Should have held onto him so we could have used him when McBeane Getz fired and we switch back to the 3-4...
-
We didn't give Boldin the key to the city. So, yes, that is my point - we don't overspend for vets.
Juron gave TO the key to the city?
We didn't pay Boldin?
-
Shut up, Meg.
Seriously tho I can't see the similarities beyond their stern demeanor. McDermot seems to have a plan, Jauron seemed to be going through the motions. Remember TO? Would we have signed him under the McBean administrations?
We got Boldin, instead. Or, was that your point?
-
no, Shady, Deshaun and Maclin all fit his scheme. He just didn't want to pay them.
Like Watkins, Woods, and Gilmore?
-
By this time next year every single Marone/Ryan era player will be gone.
And, by this time 4 years from now ever McBeane player will be gone. Your point?
-
This is trolling with swagger!!!
Made me chuckle, guy. Thanks!
-
Lmao, he'll no.
-
McBeane might go for it, before Watkins turns... I mean, they was counting on Boldin and now need a #1 WR.
-
Just curious, when has trading away all the teams talent for draft picks worked?
I am not for doing this, just curious.
-
Then why the heck did he sign here in the first place? Is he (and his agent) really that stupid and unaware of who is the QB in Buffalo just a couple weeks ago when he signed the deal to come here?
Tanking worked so well for Pegulas other team..............
Yeah, I knew the stupid Oilers would get like their 3Rd first overall pick in the last decade with McDavid, despite the Sabres having a the best chance at getting that pick. It did work out for the Oilers, eventually.
-
Man, I miss Whaley.
-
Why not trade matthews too? He's not gonna be here next year and he's not gonna lead us to the playoffs
Trade him for a Powerade water cooler?
-
McBean came in and, despite their already thin margin for error, made it even harder for themselves right off the bat. For no reason.
I'm so happy the McBeane thing is catching on more and more the faster the ship sinks. I wonder if they will get rid of TT or Shady. I don't think they'll get much for them, but when you're burning down the house to spite the mouse...
-
Funny thing, if McBeane made that trade, people here would act like it was a smart move and that the Bills were not tanking.
-
For the Jags first round pick, has me listening...
-
Well, I guess we see if TT is worth a cent.
As a Rams season ticket holder, I loved the trade. As a Bills fan near LA, I hated it.
I will give this, to the objective folks, Rams season tickets were not sold out when the trade was made. But, Goff is like Ryan lite, IMO. Sammy will light it up this year and the Rams will get at least 6 wins.
The Bills 7 wins.

I like the idea of just dumping all the talent the team has left, then using the extra cap space next year and the #1 overall on a chance at a franchise QB... I want to see a team of Aaron Maybins out there this season, apparently.

Spotrac shows the Bills with an estimated $26M in cap space for 2018 -
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/2018/
Sammy just recently said that NFL players don't get paid enough and he think that him and his fellow 2014 receiver class will change all that. That doesn't sound like someone that's going to sign a deal with a reasonable cap hit. That sounds like a guy looking to set a new record high for WR pay to me.
So, let's assume that we tag him then. What the franchise tag for WR looking like in 2018? Roughly $17M or so?
So that leaves $9M in cap space, with more than just the QB position to fill out, roster wise. I don't see how they'd even have a chance at signing Cousins (but to be clear, I don't think they will try and break the bank to sing him anyway), let alone fill, out the rest of the roster.
That's assuming that they add no other free agents to try and help the team. You only get a comp pick for Sammy if you lose more players to FA than you sign.
So you'd possibly have to fore-go trying to improve the team in order to ensure you get that 3rd round comp pick.
And a 3rd round comp pick comes after the 3rd round is over, so it's really more/less a 4th rounder. The 2nd we got for Sammy could be in the top 5 of the 2nd round. I'm not saying that Sammy wasn't worth more than that, because I think he was. But getting what could be a high 2nd is a lot better compensation that a comp 3rd (aka a 4th) if they didn't have intentions of re-signing Sammy.
That is just mental masterbation to try and justify this malarkey... They lose a #1 WR in exchange for moving up a round and year. Oh, they also got a worthless CB, too.
Rams fans are all happy, for a reason. Whereas, about half of Bills fans have lied themselves into thinking it was a good move for Buffalo. Unless there is something nobody else knows, this was a tragically horrible move.
Congrats, you gave up a year of Sammy in order to move up a round and year in the draft.
-
Bills would have gotten a comp 3rd if Sammy would have left via FA. This makes no !@#$ing sense. Now, no ER and a mid-2d? The people approving this BS are acting like Heaven's Gate folks. I may just stop being a Bills' fan, for a few years, over this stupidity.
-
I think he sucks. Oh well. 1 year rental and good bye
Truth.
-
One of these had a better QB, too.
-
First comparing Sammy to Julio, now comparing him to Eichel. This thread has gone full retard.
Really? Trading talent for picks and getting poor value on those picks is pretty asinine. The Bills' FO is once again "smarter" than everyone else, only in thier heads.
-
Man, just get rid of Russ Brandon, already.
Bills' FO deep state must go!
-
Well, sucks for the season ticket holders... I'll probably be banned for cursing this move in about 10 weeks when I have fully given up on this team.
