    PHOENIX --
(AP) Authorities say a dog mauled a 69-year-old woman to death at a Phoenix boarding facility.

Phoenix police say the victim was found Wednesday in a dog exercise area at Canine Country Club and Feline Inn with significant injuries consistent with dog bites.

She was rushed to a hospital, where she died. Her name hasn't been released yet.

The woman reportedly volunteered at a rescue group called Akita Advocates that rents space at the kennel.

She was trying to socialize the animal to prepare it for adoption when the attack took place.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control officials say the Akita Advocates group will put the dog down.

Winter RedBird came back to our yard today and landed on the head of St.Francis!

Cellphone camera sucks at that distance.

This is a good home made squirrel baffle.  One good thing about it is if you use a bought pole or shepherds hook with a fork at the bottom, you can use this design to wrap around the pole before you close it.

Stopped the squirrels but one issue I had is the small opening at the top of the baffle was just the right size for chipmunks.  Had to duct tape the holes.

I had this same thing on a different post on the other side of the house, worked just fine (no chipmunks here). Made it out of a roll of sheet metal left over from work.  Other than this, the best way I've found to keep the squirrels out of the feeders is to buy cheap cayenne pepper and mix it in liberally with the seed. Doesn't affect birds but sends any mammals heading to the nearest waterhole... after a couple of tastes they give up.

  4. It's so nice to see so many familiar faces/posters here, all assembled. The only mods from the bbmb I lost contact with are Flafitz and Chazz, wonder what they are up to now. I had Jayhawks contact info but can't find it right now, he was one funny mofo lovem or hatem. He was my mentor way back...

There are a lot of half truth's and also a Lot of information omitted in the postings here... I have no problem taking it out into the open to clear any air that wasn't clear already.

    Big 12 sightings!!!

Funny you said both of those. I go to Sarasota fairly often, at least once a year. Go to Casa de Pizza all the time. It's about a mile from where I stay. The Just Pizza was a mile from where I used to stay and it sucked for some reason.

The Buffalo Casa de Pizza was by my mother's house, on Elmwood Ave, a block from Bryant Street by the old Children's Hospital. I think I heard it recently shut down but was there for 30-40 years I think. Really great food all around.

And Bocce's was always my favorite.

Good call on Casa Di Pizza... we go to the one on SR64 in Bradenton. Really the only place down here to get a decent pie that I'm aware of.

If anyone remembers Vargo's in Lancaster, that used to be my go to pizza joint... I actually have their sauce recipe.

  6. My favorite sandwich is one that is made by someone else. Sure, I can make whatever but when someone else takes the time to make it For me it just has more appeal. Can apply this to almost any food... however, my fried egg, ham, cheese, pepper, etc. sandwich is tough to beat. Bacon grease.

  7. I've done Amazon Fulfillment, I choose that so they can handle everything (stocking, picking, shipping). It was odds and ends that I didn't want anymore, but were worth some money, and I didn't want to deal with eBay. So mostly it was about the ship it to Amazon and forget it.

What kind of merchandise are we talking here? I have half a house of antiques, albums, etc. I'd like to get rid of for a fair price so we can get back to WNY..

  8. You have never been to Portillo's (Chicago).

No iPads needed, just pencil and paper & short-hand system written on a bag. They have people in parking lot too taking orders.

Portillo's is great, they opened one up down here last year... about as close as it gets to Teds. Decent food at a good price.

We have chicfila's around here but haven't been to one in over 10 years, the lines and traffic are a hassle just for a chicken sandwich.
