Because I told you it doesn't matter-those people are not incoming GMs. Whaley was.
Then Whaley should not be tagged with those picks. Only incoming GMs set up the draft boards? That's not right. If Whaley set up the board and owns EJ for it then why wouldn't the ones who set up the board for him take the heat for the last three years?
-
Whaley claimed EJ had the "it" factor and pushed him on two coaching staffs. Right up till the end of 2016.
I guess we're done with the Who sets up Whaley's draft board question then.
-
Those people were not the incoming GM. Whaley was. He would want his own guys. Nix was phased out.
Why does that matter? If the people who set up the draft board own the pick that are made, does it matter what their job title is the next day?
-
He played a big part in the 2013 draft.
Ok I get it. He set up the draft board for Nix. That being said, Who set up his draft board in '14, '15 and '16 for him? Does that person own those draft picks?

I'm betting a lot of yardage came on long runs and added yardage by their QB. Says quite a bit about the o-line and run blocking.
-
Yeah that's a bit of a mess. And how would the cop feel about trying to detain or subdue a man that large? I'd be terrified. Glad none of the cops there fired a weapon.
They bull rushed him and he folded. They watch film too.

So Eichel did get his coach fired after all...
Coaching, or lack of, got the coach fired. How many times do you have to watch a game and say What in the name of Eddie Shack is he doing before that becomes apparent???!!!! Lineups, playing not to lose and continuing to let it happen. Playing pond hockey in the second period most of the season. Right, it was Eichel.

Maybe the plan is to let the GMs of both teams hire the coaches. We'll see how that goes for the Bills. If Whaley fails this year he's as good as gone.Only makes sense for the Sabres. Maybe the new one will be able to balance the team out and give the coach something he can actually work with. I mean how long are you going to leave the young guys in the AHL or Juniors before you bring them up and let them play. They have too many players on the downside of their careers for my taste.
-
Great, so an entire new staff for the Sabres? Does this mean ANOTHER rebuild?
Wasn't that the great idea everyone had for the Bills? Why is it a good idea for them but bad for the Sabres? How much improvement did this team have under these two? I'm happy the owners did this. Shows they are paying attention. They were not making the playoffs the way they were going, and while we're at it, the playoffs are not the goal.

I just didn't care for the roster he assembled. All of his free agent signings were garbage and overspends. Lehner looks alright at times, O'Reilly is legit, and Eichel who was a no-brainer, and Risto who has developed quite nicely.
Kulikov trade was bad. Lehner trade wasn't great. Kane trade kinda stinks cuz were stuck with Bogosian. Franson was a terrible signing. Gorges was a terrible trade. Moulson was a terrible signing. Ennis extension was a mistake.
We have a few prospects who should be ready and might be good in a couple of years. But we couldnt play them because we have so much dead weight. 2 more years of moulson and ennis... and 1 more of gorges. Thanks GMTM! Thats why he was fired. Cap mismanagement, and bad moves.
SHHHH....don't make sense here. People don't like it.

If the Bills wanted to keep Gillislee, or Hogan for that matter, they would have paid them and it would have never come to this. They don't value these guys as much the fans for a reason.
-
Not so long ago the topic here was losing players for comp picks, which are usually late round picks. Now a 5th for a backup RB is insane? I don't get message board logic. If they take Chad Kelly with the 5th is Whaley a good GM?............... God I hope he doesn't.
-
You know the Pats will design plays to get MG into the EZ, like they went out of their way with Chandler.
Sorry. Still up to the defense to stop them.
-
I will have to find it again, but a writer for one of the football websites took Graham apart on this. He added up daft picks on rosters only from drafts since Whaley has been GM, and found no significant differences between us and other teams.
Not to say Whaley can't be better at drafting, but it's just another example of unjustified criticism.
You remember that old quote right? :"if that's all you're looking for is fault, that's all you will find"
-
He's working on his little EZ dance when he scores the first of 3 TDs on the BIlls.
So if the Bills Defense is going to be that bad then why spend money and worry over a backup running back? Spend the money on the D instead right?
-
Bills are one hamstring injury, which happens frequently, to having Jonathan Williams as starting running back. Meanwhile Gillislee wins Superbowl MVP with 151 yards and 3 TDS for Patriots. I'ts the Bills way. a Joke.
Are they still going to play the season or just go with your version?
-
Maybe he wasn't the bad ass he wanted people to think he was and what he did was eating him up inside. All that alone time to think about what he did with his life and what he did to the lives of so many others. Unless you're totally Charles Manson crazy, it has has to get to you, if you have any sense of decency in your soul. Maybe he thought this was the only way to right his wrong. We'll never know.
-
Maybe, just maybe.....the Bills value a 5th rd pick more than having gillislee for 1 season. If they deemed him not worthy of the money he wanted why wouldn't they cut ties and get a pick for him. Sure, the 2017 team will be hurt because of the loss, but the pick could help the team beyond 2017. Maybe, just maybe......the Bills are planing for the future and the future doesn't involve the backup RB getting paid 3.2 mill a year While the starter is getting paid 9 a year.
One other thing. If the coaching staff wanted him they would not be in this situation. Seems to me they feel it's no big deal if they lose him. If they really want him they match the offer. I'm sure they have some say on what happens.
-
Who would you rather go against twice a year? Gillislee, Blount, or Peterson?
I think Whaley had no intention of resigning him and wanted that 5th round pick. He knew no one would give us a 2nd round pick, do went with the 5th round tender. I expect a big back to be drafted, like Da'Onta Foreman or Conner.
You might be right. I was thinking the same thing.

NFL Live crew raving about what a genius move this is and how this is the last piece of the puzzle for the Pats*. They also said they are clearly trolling us...
This is too funny. The Bills can't do anything right. The whole sports world appears to know this yet the World Champs look to sign their cast offs. Too funny.
-
He's not even an after thought when you guys go over Whaley's best moves. Now it's going to hurt the Bills if they lose him? What wrong with this picture?
-
Any GM that they would have brought in have brought in would face the same bashing. The only difference would be who's doing the bashing. He wouldn't be doing things the way some fans would have wanted him to and there goes the dynamite.
-
He has a coach quit on him, another one forced on him who also walked all over him. This is his make or break year. Let's see how he finally does on his own.
-
Is it they team they go to or where they were drafted that makes the difference?

Great when things come together like this and they still don't see it, isn't it?
