You can cry and complain all you want. That's your right. They bought and run the team their way. They have THAT right. They pay the players and coaches plus whoever it takes to run the teams. You pay for a seat to watch the game. That's all you are entitled to. You rent the seat and the parking place for each game. That's it. So ask any question you want. Cry and complain all you want. It changes nothing but you still have the right to do so. Just a waste of energy is all it is. Don't like the entertainment, don't buy a ticket to the show.

I know what he is going through. My wife passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago after 29 years of marriage. I don't wish the emotional highs and low you go through on anyone. Bad things happen and we must carry on with the help of your faith, whatever that may be. You feel alone but you are anything but. Friends and family play a big part of getting through it. I know he has the support system to get through it and he and his family will be in my prayers. God be with them in their time of need.
-
If I knew exactly what he does and what he has been involved with, maybe I could answer that. I know what people think he does but he doesn't report to me or them so I don't know.
-
It takes more than being comfortable. It takes understanding what he sees on the field where he severely lacks. If Western Kentucky can confuse him...an NFL defense will make his head spin.
I feel Yates and Peterman means the end of Jones.
Jones will end up on the PS. Who's going to pick him off the squad knowing that if they do, they have to sign him to the 53 man active roster?
-
Not that I agree with what your saying above ( because I don't) you draft guys that you think can play in the NFL. You pick up older, experienced QB's to play backup or you draft a guy that might become future starter. Groom him right and it increases his value, something the patriots make a living doing. Do you think Elway called Kelly to ask if his nephew would make a good backup?
Buffalo is in no shape to be drafting luxury backups, are you kidding me? doubling down on another later round possibility is what we're doing in my humble opinion Riverboat Richie.
Name suggests you know a little bit about gambling...
Which guy starts this year? In Chicago or KC? You can't wish on a star and pick one. There is a thought process, believe it or not. Not one of the teams that picked a QB has to start him. Neither do the Bills. They have starters last time I checked. They took one where he should have been taken. Good move on there part. They been there and done that and it didn't work. If your happy with them picking a guy higher than they should then I don't know what to tell you.
-
That's very un-Buffalo like....we are supposed to not like our star players and want to get rid of them. Sabre fans want to get rid of Kane.
You are so right. I never will understand the hate for Kane. He's done everything that was expected of him. Most popular player in Buffalo is usually a backup.
-
He produces. I don't give a damn about his age or his salary. They let guys go and everyone complains. If they don't let them go everyone complains. You know what the constant is here. Unbelieveable.
-
So you think Buffalo's intentions are for him to be the starter and savior of the franchise?
I'm sure Buffalo has intentions for every single draft pick to be an All Pro.
That's not what they (or any sane person) is expecting, though.
Exactly right. Wilson and Prescott were not drafted to be the starter. Neither was Rogers. It fell into place for them and their teams. Stranger things have happened.

The new GM's primary role would not be in setting up a board which was basically done. It would have been to sit down with the coach and work out a plan to win the Buffalo Bills a Superbowl based on short, medium, and long term time horizons.
The scouting season was over after the draft. The perfect time to bring in a GM and let him settle in and get to know the situation with the team. They did the right thing and I have no issues with the draft. No one knows how it will work out but that's true with every draft. In my opinion, they did what they had to do.
-
No, I think he decided to fill needs and used the Bills board as a guide. It's also possible that the next GM for the Bills was also providing him draft analysis.
But in another post you said the draft board was already set up. That would indicate it takes a long time to set up. Where would this new GM have gotten the information to change what the Bills already had? Time line doesn't seem to fit in that case.
-
Bills should have had their GM in place before the draft. The Colts hired Chris Ballard, a top name, from the Chiefs in January and had him run their show. Having the defensive coordinator from the Panthers pick players while Whaley, dead man walking. assisted is the sign of a team's total incompetence.
That doesn't explain the Bills not releasing them prior to the draft and using the information they provided. It has nothing to do with what other teams did or did not do. Do you believe McD came in with a head full of draft knowledge on each player and then shot from the hip at the draft? Tell me you don't believe that.
-
Different issue.
Explain please. I'm not sure where you are going with this.
-
So you have a guy with no front office experience making picks off a board from scouts he deems worthy of losing their jobs. That doesn't inspire confidence.
Why weren't they let go prior to the draft?
-
Who else was making decisions?
The decision was made based on what information the scouting department provided. If McD did it on his own they all could have been let go prior to the draft without concern about information going to other teams. The pick was made on what was best for the team at the time of the pick with the information they had.
-
That's actually the heart of the matter! Who is they?! It was just Sean.
When did you interview him? You seem to know a lot about what he thinks.
-
If the Bills are in win now mode they certainly could have paid Gilmore. They decided they didn't want to which is fine. My issue is if you don't pay him and want to rebuild why not actually rebuild? Bills always middling things.
I have never said to draft a QB just to draft a QB. What I said was you don't pass on a QB if they have franchise potential if there is a guy there and you don't have a franchise QB. Coaches don't like to draft and develop QB's. Let's hope that McDermott has a plan beyond trotting out TT and the best veteran he can find.
That's BS and you know it. Everyone on this board knows who you wanted. You're not fooling anyone with the lame explanation. You never said pick one but if they have franchise potential take one? They took who they liked. They didn't feel the franchise potential was there. They did exactly what you said they should do yet you don't really like the pick? Who you trying to fool, us or yourself?
-
Not everyone thinks drafting cornerbacks, letting them walk in free agency, and drafting their replacements is a great way to build a Superbowl team.
Same Old Bills.
They had to let him walk. Couldn't afford him. If they are going to fix the unbalanced cap issues the answer is not to make it worse. Not everyone thinks they should just pick a QB with their first pick just to pick one. I you can't just pick a guy and hope he's the one. Not with your first pick. If you do that you had better know he's your starter. If they thought some one else was better they would have taken him.

This is what the OP sounds like to me:
I'd like Sean McDermott right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy post draft slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is! Hallelujah! Holy ****! Where's the Tylenol?
Makes as much sense.

lets get it to 55 pages talking about how stupid it was.
anyone got any good jokes? i need a good joke. make it a corny joke.
You know what the difference is between snow men and snow women?
Snowballs.

well beings that his post was directed towards me I feel obligated to respond to this.....
I totally understand what he's saying and its what I also said we should do. go ahead and read our dialogue the last couple of pages before you lump me in with a certain type of person.
If you feel you fit what I said then that's on you. I responded to Shaw. You jumped in so..........
-
If they take a QB in the first round next season, he probably sits behind Taylor and plays in his second season. Only way he starts as a rookie is if he's clearly better than Taylor from the get go.
Shaw,
They should all know this by now. You are wasting your time trying to explain something to those who will not see. Their mind is closed as far as the QB position is concerned, Whaley too for that matter, and nothing we say will make much of a difference.
-
Also has any body considered his injury problems may just disappear in a contract year and we may see a better Sammy than we ever have?
Yes. I think it's a warning shot if this "report" has any truth to it. He either gets signed to a new contract or they turn him loose. Those are the only two options.
-
Really. If Vic says they won't the Bills will pick up the option
You got to give Vic credit. He keeps on trying. He has to get something right sometime.
-
Did they forget about Alex Smith? Last I heard he's still their starting QB until he isn't. Start of the season may have them more pissed off than happy

They also have Dysert and a rookie on the roster. They will keep looking.
