  1. I think he knew it was time to leave. His body was not going to hold up over the course of the season. He set himself up for doing something when the time came to leave the game. The time has arrived. Like a lot of us, he doesn't want to admit he's getting old and can't do things the way he use to.

  2. League leaders in WR categories tend to play with good NFL QBs ( there are always exceptions). And on offenses that actually throw the ball once in awhile, while targeting their best WR often. He showed what he could do when they actually threw his way. He had some injury issues. It's not like the guy was always thrown to , never missed any time, and still failed to produce. It's hard to say a guy that took so much flack from fans was overrated. His time here was mostly waiting for what could have been, for various reasons. That's about it.

So how does losing a guy that you won't throw to and had "some injury issues"' make the team worse? Any way you spin it they didn't get the production from him. Oh, he's not 100%, oh he has Taylor throwing, or not throwing, to him. Coaches are using him wrong. He may has well have never been on the team at all. The team sucks as much with him as it ever did without him. How was that going to change based solely on Watkins being there for another year?

  3. Do you try and be an ass or does it come naturally? I'm not a moderator....do what you want

Actually I have had years of practice. I'll let you get back to your soap opera fandom. I'm interested in Bills football on the field, not the fantasy drama queen front office BS. Have fun!
  4. men who watch football like to discuss players on other teams, especially if they want a point proven about Bills management or they want a steal of a pick in their fantasy leagues.

You hope a player from some other team makes your team look bad? Nice work at being a Bills fan. You care more about them looking bad than looking good. Is that what you and a lot of other are about?

  5. I'm not saying it isn't possible that SW gets injured or that the Bills draft the next great WR with that second rounder. I just wouldn't have done it given SW value to the team if he's healthy, his age, the return received, and that the team had little to lose if he didn't produce in 2017 vs the potential gain. That's it. If SW produces at the level he is capable of elsewhere it's a loss for the Bills vs losing nothing but what they spent 3 years ago with a different GM to obtain him.

I don't care what he does with the Rams. Good luck to him. He wasn't doing it for the Bills and they moved on.There are no do overs, he's gone. They are moving on.

  6. Because it's not a huge difference and they would know how the 2017 season played out. Taking some uncertainty out could be worth just a couple mil in salary. Not a terrible strategy if you want more data vs more time.

Well it appears they had all the data they needed. I really don't want to believe that there are people who think the coach and GM didn't know anything about Sammy. They made their decision based on what they know. That's all that matters.

  7. Please tell us how much the Bills were going to offer and what Sammy's walk away price is? Evidently you know.

Why is it so important that we give up a years production to get "something" for Sammy?

We got nothing for Woods, Gillislee, Hogan, Fitz, Robey, Gilnore, Fred, Byrd, Nigel, Mario ...

That's what happens most of the time. Deal with it.

I don't own a Sammy jersey and I HATE the trade.

Besids, it's still a Bills jersey. Wear it with pride as I do my EJ, Mario, Rob Johnson, and Flutie jerseys. :)

    Go BILLS !!!

How much was it to pick up the option? They didn't do it. If they wouldn't pay him that what do you think they would pay him? More than the option would have cost? Why would they do that?

  8. Even if they signed Watkins to a 5 year $65M deal with $40M guaranteed (which is way more than he's getting) who would the Bills have to get rid of to do that? They wouldn't have to make a single roster decision because of that contract so the signability is irrelevant. This team is going to be half full of guys on rookie deals without a highly paid QB. The money is there to load up elsewhere.

They didn't think he was going to be a fit for them or they wouldn't have done it. Bottom line. It's not an indication of tanking. They invested a lot of time in him and apparently did not like the results enough to keep him. Unloaded him before he walked for nothing. People can spin it any way they choose but the bottom line is they didn't think he was a player they wanted to go with.

  9. Best WR in the league, what are you talking about? No one is asking that nor saying that. he was by far this teams #1 WR. The Rams also think he will be their #1 WR.

We Gamble on Matthews who has swirling questions about his knee, and wont be able to practice for weeks? The guy will not be a factor early on this year.

How much you going to pay him on the franchise tag? Exactly what he's worth in terms of production? How much is that compared to the rest of the league? He's not shown he's top five.
  10. The bills are teh one that put themselve in this position by not excercising the 5th year option. Which most people fail to realize.

Also franchise tag him the year after.

I just found a minimum, 3 more seasons of Watkins on this team, just like that.

Why didn't they pick up the option? Because they didn't want to gamble on his health anymore. They know more things about him than we do. You're not talking about the best player in terms of production here by any means. That's what people fail to realize. He wasn't going to be the best receiver in the league just because people want him to be.

  11. No. It has to do with the recognition of a top tiered player and questioning the decision to trade him away. The same thing would happen if the Bills traded McCoy or any of their best players.

He wasn't going to resign for what the Bills were going to offer. They got something for him. They didn't want to gamble on him any further. This has been explained more than once, yet the crying continues. This is the best reason I can see for it.

  12. The writing was on the wall when they failed to pick up the option on Sammy. I said a long time ago that he would not see another contract with the Bills. They were not using him the way you would think they would after giving up what they did to get him in the first place. Then the injury thing happened. I really didn't think his heart was in playing in Buffalo anymore. Since the Bills were not likely to pay him what his agent would ask for, the next move would be free agency. Better to get something for him then to let him go for nothing. The Bills took a shot and it didn't work out for them. Will it work out for Sammy's next team? Who knows? It didn't work out for Buffalo and that's all that matters as far as the trade goes.I'm only concerned with the Bills and their situation, not a former player or his team. Good luck to him and GO BILLS!
