Although I still think there's other issues at play here(playcalling, scheming, personnel, etc. ) I definitely agree with this.  It's a completely different ballgame when you are a young team on the rise after being a dumpster fire for 17 years, everything is all roses and gravy and I'm sure the atmosphere felt very fun for the players.  But now after too many disappointments and the years going by with early exits in the playoffs, the pressure begins to mount.  Expectations rise...it does feel like this is a team that really struggles with pressure and expectations.  It just doesn't look like they play with a real confidence anymore even though they still say all the right things in press conferences.

    I have to agree.

I think part of these real poor first halves the team played the last two weeks is due to nerves/tightness.  When the team loosened up in the 2nd half they play/played better.  I mean last week they got away with it.  Not this week

I’m all in on an AZ/TX World Series wITH AZ winning it.

I despise the Phillies and the Astros. If that’s the WS matchup, I hate to say it, but I’d root for Philly.

This has nothing to do with the Astros’ cheating scandal.

I just think they’re a bunch of arrogant pricks.

But they are - and have been - a hell of a ball team.

I haven’t watched a lick of postseason baseball. Probably the first time in my adult life I’ve skipped this much of the post season.

I plan to tune into the World Series and - regardless of the teams - I really want to see some high quality baseball.

Is that you think due to how much emphasis is placed on analytics in today's game?

    One article on it

    https://nypost.com/2022/04/21/mlbs-marriage-with-analytics-changing-baseball-for-the-worse/

I've been checked out the last few seasons in the post season with the Mets being home.  2017 was the last year I cared a little about the MLB Playoffs enough to watch the games.    Baseball today just seems so long, boring and heartless by this for me.

I still prefer the old school manager type.  That's why whether that was fair or not Buck seemed to be my #1 disappointment last season for how underperforming the team was

Bobby Bacula Sr. He made an incredible impact in just one episode.  What a talent.  RIP.

I guess its a testament to his acting...  I always found when he drove off the road the toughest scene to watch in that series

Turned on the game tonight in the hopes of seeing Max get lit up. Top 3rd and he's given up 4 runs so far. Good times.

Well the other side to that is I’m not sure how much of an anti Philly guy you are but they seem to be rocking and rolling

Id still root for them in the World Series over the Rangers (not that I’d watch an inning of it).  What probably influences my decision is really no contact with Phillies fans at all in my life

  5. As more time passes I'm not happy but a little more accepting of the result.

Benefit of the doubt calls from the ref, karma, whatever it is I'm confident for sure the Bills lose this type of game during the Drought.

Also, Daboll and Tyrod I'm sure had a little extra motivation in them last night to ball.  And hey beating a much bigger market team on Primetime TV as well that's won 4 Super Bowls.

I have fond memories of watching her as Carol Lambert on Step by Step growing up.  One of the all-time great TV Milfs.  Unfortunately created some completely unrealistic expectations of what I expected my friend's Moms to look like

    RIP

I remember that show very fondly as well but well never looked at her like that at that age.  She seemed the cool and good mom.  Although I remember her and Frank always wanted to get it on 😅

When I started getting older though I looked at her and Peg Bundy differently like that.  Haha

Rest well.  She seemed a good person in general

  7. This feels like to me the football gods gave us this one to make up a little for Wide Right, the 07 Dallas game, and the 09 Patriots game.  All other prime time games too.

It’s like you’re playing the Giants on prime time TV.  You didn’t deserve to win but there you go

  8. I kinda actually miss NFL on TNT from what I vaguely remember of it but I digress.

The 1st football game I remember was Super Bowl 25 and I of course always wanted to see a rematch.  So this day finally came.  I actually recall being pretty pumped for it most of the day.  I was only 9 back then.

I remember it was 10-0 Bills early and my parents told me I had to go sleep.  No TV or phone in my room back then I woke up and was real happy to see the 17-14 win. But it took until YouTube to realize how much of a nail biter this game was!

And it is still the last time the Bills beat the G-Men in Buffalo

  9. My Cousin Vinny

My neighbor Amanda way way back then I thought had the cool mom who took her and her friend to the movie theaters to see it when it first came out.  I think this was when we were in 3rd grade?

Anyway my Dad never allowed me to watch it.  Him being a Catholic man who never swore didn’t want me to hear the language in the movie.  But my Mom gave in and rented it for me at the Library.  I still recall hiding the VHS tape under my bed so my dad wouldn’t see it.

It's amazing after all these years what a topic of conversation that still is in WNY and Bills folklore.  I was playing Tennis with some friends over the Summer and I don't even remember why or how it got brought up but somehow the Norwood kick comes up and then we are talking about it for 30 minutes....I was thinking to myself this is crazy, that was 30 years ago now and it has already been analyzed to death yet here we are 😄

I agree though if this team can bring us to the promised land all of the talk about Norwood and the 4 Super Bowl losses truly becomes ancient history.  It's only still relevant today because the Bills have never won one

I dont blame the OP or any other fan that still thinks what could have been kind of thing....

But my guess is most of the present Bills players are sort of oblivious to it for the most part?   I mean they've heard of it but it's like this is before my generation kind of thing.    Von Miller at 34 years old is the oldest player on the roster.  He was not even 2 years old when it went down.

NFL or NCAA, is there ever a 47 yd FG attempt that doesn’t make you think…

    Wide Right

It does make me marvel sometimes how hitting 60 yard field goals today isn’t really outside the norm anymore.

A reason why I have Steve Christie as my avatar.  It was exciting in those days as a kid to see him drill 50 plus yard field goals consistently.  I want to say he was one of the first field goals kickers who was consistent at that distance

You're right about Mookie. Sorry, I should have included him.

I like Bobby V but I don't know that he was a better manager than Davey Johnson. DJ was tasked with keeping all of those massive, partying egos in check & on task and he does have the 1986 Championship on his resume. Nobody since him has one, including BV. If one wanted to argue that Bobby V "got more out of his teams", I don't think I would argue that point. It's a valid thought and certainly open for debate. They were both good in their own right. Bobby certainly gets the edge in moustaches. 😉 😂

Did you ever read The Bad Guys Won by Jeff Pearlman?  It chronicled the 1986 team.  That’s where a lot of my knowledge of them came from.

In my opinion it came off a little on the tabloidish side but a decent and quick read

I am mentally preparing myself to say goodbye to Pete Alonso.

He just hired Scott Boras to be his agent.

I am sick of this douche ruining baseball and I really hate the 10+ year mega deals.

I realize that it’s part of the game now and that Cohen has bottomless pockets with no salary cap … but I just hate Boras.

I think we may have seen the last of Pete in a Mets uniform.

On an unrelated note - looks like Counsel is the favorite to replace Buck.

That would be a great hire, IMO.

Only hesitation I’d have on Counsel is he doesn’t exactly strike me as a New York kind of guy.  But I agree he knows his stuff

    Yeah read this

Yeah, that was laughable. Doc, Daryl, Keith, 'Nails'...they were all cokeheads &/or booze hounds. 'Kid' & Knight were about the only 'holy rollers' of the bunch.

I thought Mookie was a clean living guy.

Yeah Davey J was before my time but would you agree Bobby V got more out of his teams than Davey did?

A very sort of pass the work day exercise for me.  I’ll probably watch very little or none of the baseball playoffs.

But I’m wondering if you guys have a memory of a Mets team that missed out on making the playoffs because of 3 Wild Cards now and coulda done damage.

I was in 8th grade but I remember the 1997 Mets were a fun team.  Under this new format the 98, 07, and 08 teams woulda make the playoffs.  But they were kinda coming apart at the seams by the end of the year.  And the 2021 Mets didn’t do much in the playoffs

So I’d go the 1997 purely on memory without analyzing it too much.  I mean the Marlins won that year

This can’t be true. Who would watch a football game just for the chance of seeing a couple shots of Swift in a suite? Might as well just look up pictures or videos on YouTube.

Yeah I mean even if say the camera goes on her and she moons the TV....   it would all just go viral in matter of seconds.

But then again you might be surprised

  16. @SinceThe70s @ExWNYer @Gugny

Well outside of the Tre White injury this was a real good sports Sunday!

Eppler deserves some blame but Buck imo was the number one culprit of why the team had such a poor year.  Having said that I don't dislike him the man and am glad he got to say goodbye with dignity showed to him.

Jury is very much still out on the future but at least this shows Cohen is going to do what he thinks is necessary at the end of the day to win.

When I was like 12 or 13 I stole a Pam Anderson Playboy from a bookstore...I wasn't a bad kid for the most part and that was probably one of the first things I did in life that I shouldn't have and I had a guilty conscious about the stealing part for awhile

The thing is I wasn't trying to be cool or a badass, I just wanted to see Boobs!

    Haha that story is awesome.

I know there was a Playboy with Geri Halliwell (Sexy or Ginger Spice) I was half tempted to do that with.  But for nostalgia I bought and still own the copy off eBay.

Yeah sometimes in high school it really bothered me how other kids would cheat on tests and what not.  Then I grew up and I have to think some of that is on the teacher for being dumb and naive

  18. This was a good game but Dolphins at Bills 2009 is one of my favorite drought games.

If I recall Jauron just got the ax and Fewell I think was the interim coach?  Anyway, his aggressive play calling I think won the Bills that game late.  And I recall a Fitz to TO touchdown which kind of sealed the deal
