How much blame does Daboll deserve?
Buddy Hix replied to RosenNOTchosen1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't remember if it was a podcast or maybe on WGR but Ledyard was discussing how the EP system nowadays presents a ton of options for the QB, which can be more difficult for a QB like Allen who struggles with reading coverage and decision making. The summer school article briefly touches on that, "It wasn't until Charlie Weis joined those same Patriots decades later that the modern iteration of the system came to be. Instead of using a simplified passing system to minimize the duties of the QB, Weis used it to massively enhance the multiple options and possibilities within a given play." -
What about the throws he didn't make? There were numerous times Allen had wide open targets and tucked the ball to run, go check out Cover 1. Allen also struggled to stay in clean pockets, I can think of two plays where he had to just step with the protection and instead panicked and ran into sacks. I'd love to know what progress you saw.

It's McD's fault... Why bring in a guy who runs the EP system, which is tougher to grasp than most others, when you are intent on taking a kid who struggles with reading presnap coverage? -
Bills vs. Texans All-22 Coaches Film Reviews
Buddy Hix replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is going to be ugly, especially for all those “Allen looked good yesterday “ fans. -
To win. I think that if McD feels Anderson gives the team the best chance to win that he will play him. While I agree that Anderson hasn’t been a good QB, neither has Allen. The Bills think so little of Allen that they refuse to run an NFL offense, it’s not beyond the realm of possibilities that McD has more confidence in Anderson.

I’ll watch the film again when 22 comes out but Allen looked jumpy to me, sensing pressure when it wasn’t there or running into pressure when he could have stepped away from it. But I agree that Daboll has not helped him either.

Progress? Allen looks worse now than he did to start the season, the kid is shell shocked and now has happy feet, not to mention being gun shy. Beane botched this entire process, and I’m sure it’s going to cost him his job after next season. I don’t think Allen was ever going to turn into a franchise QB, but at least the kid deserved a shot. Beane, having no plan at the position, has forced the kid into an untenable situation, and I think the slim chance Allen could have been good has been reduced even further.

At 1-3 and coming off a game I went to in Green Bay in which the team got shutout by a below average defense I was solely concerned with Allen's development. After a somewhat surprising win against a division leading team I can buy into going for ugly W's and sheltering Allen for as long as the season is still alive. If/when it gets out of hand (3 or 4 games below .500), I really don't see the point in sheltering Allen for the sake of meaningless W's, I want to see what we have. So basically, any type of W tomorrow will gladly be taken by me.

The Bills have screwed this up so badly thus far that I fully expect Anderson to start as soon as he is up to speed on the playbook. You’d think it is obvious that the team is not a contender and it’s best at this point to develop your young QB the best way possible, with reps, but I really think the Bills are hoping they can win 9 games.

Decent podcast. Essentially they think accuracy is impossible to correct, which doesn’t bode well for Allen. They do mention that Allen may have a lot less reps than his contemporaries, so maybe there is hope, but they don’t seem optimistic. A good point made in the podcast, what QB has ever really improved their accuracy in the league? The only answer they could muster was Aaron Brooks, which again lends itself to Allen being SOL.

For those that say McDermott is a younger jauron
Buddy Hix replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, super legit. McD literally punted from the Colts 41 on 4th and 1, in OT with 4:13 to play. -
Josh Allen is the piece just need players around him

The “stop posting because your opinion is different than mine” guy, nice to meet you. Shall I explain how a message board works?
