  1. A couple of things:

    - Beane got in the life boat on the Titanic instead of playing as the ship was going down. He's basically Kool & the Gang from Steve Harvey's set in Original Kings of Comesy. That's a good decision.

    - Secondly someone wondered if he'd go back to Carolina because he lived in the South his whole life. North Carolina isn't the south it's the Mid-Atlantic at best. Here's a quick guide to determining, "is that the South?" If the state university plays in the SEC it's a yes with a couple of exceptions. Kentucky is too far north, Missouri is too far mid-west and Florida is its own little world. Texas functions like Florida. That leaves South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana as "the south."

That is a lot of math for my yankee mind to comprehend! 😛

  2. People knocking Schopp and Bulldog are obviously listening to them. They win.

And yeah, their content can certainly be trite. But think of it this way: we are a two-team sports outpost with a running tradition of a very long offseasons. What do people expect?

I haven't listened to them in more than 10 years the only time I hear about them is when people complain about them on social media. In my view as far as their show goes if you can't find a topic related to Buffalo sports or even sports in general on a station that bills it self as all sports all the time maybe you work for the wrong station or are in the wrong profession.

  3.

They spent 45 minutes yesterday talking about how Schopp had a bird in his house and he didn't know how to get it out....

It boggles the mind how Schopp and the Generic sports talk name have been on the air for 15 years in that same time slot. They do entire segmeyand sometimes shows about topics almost entirely irrelevant to sports. I turend them off 10 years ago and never looked back.

  4. It's more complicated than that. They really wanted OSU CB Ahmad Plummer, who was drafted by SF right before Flowers. Plummer looked fantastic early on but had bad injury issues that cut his career short. Butler, Adams, and AJ Smith were also all in on safety Mike Brown, a great player who the Bears took in round 2. Their next choice was safety Deon Grant (a good player who actually played in the 2012 Giants-Pats SB for the victorious Giants), who was drafted by Carolina immediately before the Bills picked. Travares Tillman was the last credible safety left when it came time for the Bills to pick in that round, and the Bills drafted for need (they really did need a safety at the time). But they were praying for Brown. It didn't happen, but it's not as if they mailed it in. It was a bad draft, but they had bad luck too.

Interesting fact about Deon Grant: he missed his entire rookie season because of a back injury, but played in 16 games every season from 2001 to his last season, in 2011.

Thanks for the insight into that draft I guess there were a lot of things in play that like the next 17 years didn't seem to fall our way. Didn't want to also mention that was the draft where Brady went in the 6th round.
