If this happens, my hope for Baker would be to use this as a time to sit back and learn from it. Show a mature attitude. There's a lot he can do to contribute as a backup. It'll be his chance to be "the adult in the locker room". That was a damning statement and doesn't look good for him.

    Might be for the best.

These examples rarely synch up due to comparing a Hall of Famer to a inconsistent 1st Overall Pick…

…but…Drew Brees didn’t become Drew Brees until Season 6/7 in the league and a New Team.

Mayfield is only in Season 5…and on original team.

Just stating this because, Mayfield still has plenty of time to turn the ship around if he can center himself, get out of Cleveland and hook up with Sean Payton when he comes back.  Okay that last part is 😉.  But mayfield definitely needs to synch up with an up and coming Offensive Minded Coach in 2023.

They surely will be tough for the next couple years but then Joe will get 50 million a year and things will even out.  I still think we are better than them right now.

Buffalo should be better than the Bengals.

Buffalo is 2 years ahead of the Bengals on their timeline.

For all the sudden success the bengals had in 2021…it gets forgotten that they are WAY ahead of schedule.

What they did in 2021…most didn’t think they would do until 2023/2024.

Good luck AFC. Building a powerhouse and a dynasty.

Perhaps the idea of a “dynasty” will need to be recalibrated or just dropped all together if each of the QBs in the AFC all get a little piece of the pie.

Right now…KC having 4 straight Championship Games at Home is closest thing to a Conference Dynasty.  But their only going 2-2 in those games and 1-1 in Super Bowls dampers the overall dynasty if not out right nullifies it.

Who else do you believe has that in them?

Of course its not an indicator of consistency, but it is an indicator of an extra gear your QB needs to have in the biggest moments.

The reason that game is a forever classic is because the high level back and forth play is so rare, even with the elite QBs in the game.

The literal back and forth nature of the game felt special (without actually looking into how many other games this  season had similar dueling nature)

But…there have been plenty of games and dozens of QBs who have cranked it into an extra gear in games in 2021, 2020…etc.

I will say that being a “star” in any league gives you a little more attention from the announcers and writers that in effect influence audience opinion.

    If you watch the NBA…

No Name player comes off the bench and does an amazing dunk…announcers say “cool”

Lebron, Durant, Giannis do the same exact dunk…announcers say “greatest dunk in history of mankind”

All part of selling the product.  Push the stars.  Mahomes and Allen are stars.  But many other QBs could have executed those TD throws they both made.

Not sure where to put this, but came across it and it seems pretty noteworthy given the wild QB stuff we’ve seen this off-season..

Prisoner of the Moment take … but that’s okay.  More just the way the game flow of that particular game went and showed what those 2 QBs (and many others) can be capable of when the wheels come off during the game.  Not really an indicator of how these 2 QBs are going to play on a consistent basis going forward at all though.

Pretty much everyone felt that the Bills year was 1990. They had the best team and had it all set up. They’d just crushed the Raiders in the championship game. But go figure….they went back year after year after year. The point is we don’t know YET whether those thirteen seconds were the end or the beginning. It’ll be a whole lot of fun to find out. 👍

    GO BILLS

Well they definitely were not the beginning as Buffalo had lost the past 2 seasons  in the playoffs.  Each one of those they had just a good a look of going to the SB as they did in 2021.

So 2022 marks year 4 of their window.  Which is probably in the middle of a window barring internal collapse due to non football related issues or just parity of the league.

It Sucks that there are so many elite, young, qbs in the AFC while so few in the NFC. There are legitimately 7-8 AFC teams who will be competitive for the next decade simply because of their QB (including us, of course.) Getting the elite QB is the hardest part of the equation, and much of our  competition has that spot solved. I guess the posting is they are all outside the afc east.

The NFC has like 1 or 2 answers at qb for the present and future. If we are in the NFC I think we could cake walk our way to the Superbowl until Josh’s legs fall off.

When everyone has a Top End QB…they no longer are the biggest decider in the win or the loss.

in the past…Allen gets the ball drives down the field and scores.  Game in hand.  But now…Allen scores…and now you have Mahomes, Wilson, Herbert, Carr, Jackson, Watson, Burrow who can all easily just match point for point.

So now you ask…what will be the difference?

And all eyes point to Health, Depth and the most important…COACHING.

Or more to the point…in game decision making.  Which McDermott has a lot of work to do.

Watson, Chubb, Cooper, Njoku..not bad at all.

    Good for Cleveland.

Every team (seems like) has a PrimeTime Baller at QB now…each one can toss 4k 30+ TDs and deliver last second game winning drives.

So…all eyes on Sean and Leslie…because the days of beating Trevor Siemian and Mike White are over.

You're the starting QB for an NFL team.  You have a torn labrum in your non-throwing shoulder, but instead of going on IR and getting surgery like you should, you tough it out.  Management tells you after the season that you're their guy, yet a contract extension is not forthcoming.  You have to watch as the team tries to land human excrement in Watson, so you send a tweet thanking the fans and request a trade.  For that, Baker Mayfield is getting the crap kicked out of him in this thread.  The Browns told Mayfield exactly what they thought of him when they went after that POS Watson.  What would you have him do, stay in Cleveland and take whatever ***** they send his way?  Baker Mayfield did not create the situation, the Browns ownership and FO did.  The hate he's getting here is ridiculous.

1.) Bakers play is inconsistent.  Despite personal feelings many have on him…if he was winning…people would still hate him, but they wouldn’t talk.  He’s down now so it’s easy to pounce.

2.) Baker…doesn’t play or carry himself the way media/fans “romanticize” a player should carry/play…and that makes them hate him all the more.

After they have completely destroyed any confidence and trust with the QB they drafted #1 overall and currently have on their roster.

Always amazes me how tough football players and the sport are propped up to be.

    But…

Its Hockey … where head coaches publicly call out their own players, bench guys, move players off of lines…

Yet those guys seem to be able to work their way through it.

yet in the NFL…coaches have to be so careful not to say the slightest thing which might be negative about a player less it causes fan/media speculation of trading, loss of confidence, internal dysfunction, player mental collapse…etc.

I know this situation is not exactly that…but it just is curious to me.

  11. He was so important on seemingly always making it

    2nd and 4 or less

    or

Turning 3rd and 5 into a 1st Down and extending drives.

the real secret to the prolific buffalo offense has usually been Off Schedule 1st downs by Allen running or the short 3rd down grabs by the Beasleys.

without those contributions so many drives would have been forced into 4th down decisions of punts, go for it or field goals instead on the end result that was many times touchdowns.

  12. Absolutely Zero rush for Watson to “win” whichever team he selects.

This move is not a win in 2022 move.

    Watson is 27 this season.

In 3 seasons from now (which is a lifetime in the NFL)

Watson will be 29…Brady and Rodgers will be long gone and which ever team he selects will be the cream of the crop in the NFC SOUTH if not NFC.

    Long Range Thinking.
