  1. it's shocking how many good golf courses there are around here considering the short season. even the public courses get high praise. i'm not a golfer, but i know a number of people who love the webster and penfield courses. victor hills serves a purpose. if i'm not mistaken, ridgemont was redone. there's never a shortage of places to play. i've been to a lot of the private clubs not to golf, but for functions. they all do a great job.
  2. my understanding is that the course at oak hill is unique and difficult. very long narrow fairways, and typically for tournaments the have a 6 inch rough. i'm not sure what the fees are now. years ago when i started working, i was invited to be a member. i think i was 30, so i could sign up for a junior membership. i believe it was 35k, and 70k if you were over 35. you could pay it off over time. it must be closer to 100k, but i'm not sure. i don't golf so it was never financially worth it, but i'm there all time with family, friends and coworkers. are you sure ccb cost 50k a year? that sounds way steep. you certainly pay a fee every year, and on top of that you pay for drinks, gold, dinner etc. i can't imagine someone paying 50k a year, and then spending on top of it. over the past few years oak hill has let a lot more members in. i think they needed the income, and they started to fall out of grace with the younger members. they kept strict rules that just didn't give. i was even told by one of my friends that it wasn't "special" to be a member anymore, for which i busted his balls without mercy. now i think membership is closed.
  3. i'm glad you did this. as far as guys go, this always seems to be one topic we're open to discussing emotionally, (women too, but we all know men have a bit more trouble here). the void will take time. i was thinking back to my past animals, and all i have is warm, wonderful memoires. the pain of their death over time has evolved into that, and i'm greatful for it. i know it will for you too.
  4. i personally don't know of any. oak hill is its own situation. i thought i heard that it's the only course to hold every major, (except the ones at the same course every year).
  5. I always find these post so difficult. we've all been there and know how hard it is. i'm on the cusp of this now. i have a 17 year old black cat, and a 12 year old yellow lab. my cat while old is still fairly feisty. i can feel his spine when i pet him, but he still runs around a bit and likes to play. my dog is really starting to show signs of age. his face is old, he has a number of sebaceous gland and fatty tumors, but they don't seem to bother him. even my mother in law stated that he always looked, "tired" recently. when their time comes, i think it will be the routine that will hit me the most. i wake up at 5:30 during the weekdays just so i can spend the first half hour of my day with them. feed them, let them out, play some ball to move around. same with the evening. my cat will sit with me when i do paperwork, and my dog is in his bed in my office. we always start the day and end the day together...for the last 12 plus years. i think about them not being here more and more lately, but i've taken the attitude that a lot of other posters have....animals have a short life. it's our responsibility to show them love, fun, and to take great care of them during this time. i can honestly say i've done this for my friends, and will do this every day further that they're here. it will hurt when they're gone, but i know i'll have done the right thing. to remember them, i already had paintings made of both that hang in my home office right above their bed. i'll have them forever to remember in their best points of life.
  6. Totally unprofessional. I spread my seed all the time and still perform at a high level. Ditto for Nick Cannon.
  7. no one is living in fantasy land. you're just being over the top crowing the jets for something they have yet to prove. does rodgers make them better? of course. am i trembling thinking the jets will ruin the bills season. not at all. even with rodgers i think think this team is better. if you want to keep referring to one jets game last year as if it will carry over...go nuts.
  8. my fear is he wouldn't even want me.
  9. whether the bills win or the jets win, it's far too early to know how the east would shake out. i like it as the first match up as well, but it won't tell me much one way or the other.
  10. i'm not terribly into the monday night opener.
  11. She was on a talk show recently…my god.
  12. he probably knocked up a bartender from chippewa and has to peace out. don't blame him.
  13. absolutely. there's few people in his position, and he should reap the benefits. there's not one aspect about josh's personality that makes me think he's not doing enough. the guy has worked his ass of to get here, and i don't see how this off season would be any different. he's now one of the faces of the nfl, and he's going to get more exposure. i just wonder if the people calling him out put the same, 100% of the time dedication to their jobs as they expect josh to. my guess would be no.
  14. guess what spanky? even after i have my house paid off in a few years, i'll still be paying thousands a month just to stay in it. i'd rather pay into equity than taxes. not to mention that the same house would absolutely not cost 3 times as much in most of the country. that's absurd. maybe in comparison to large metro areas, but even that's a stretch.
  15. so...people really have a problem with this?
  16. that really is incredible. i know our cost of housing is far less, but that doesn't even cover my county taxes.
  17. let's hear it!
  18. i'd assume that too. i know in the rochester area, the rule was, (i'm not sure if this applies anymore) that for every million, you pay about 35k a year in taxes, depending on the suburb. I do think it includes schools, as i checked mine, and it looked as if the school taxes were in there. that's what you get hit with.
  19. The guy really is a machine. If he comes back next year healthy and dialed in, Allen is going to duck people up.
  20. I see you having very light, wispy facial hair. Am I anywhere in the ballpark?
