  1. My cousin has been using a service called “eye stream TV” for at least 4-5 years now and he swears by it. He gets a crazy amount of channels including PPV, all the movie channels like HBO and Starz, every NFL game for every team, every NHL game, NBA, MLB, etc.

and it’s only $43/month. They also offer a free 1 week trial so it’s an option if this dispute isn’t resolved in time.

I don’t think they offer DVR or on demand though. You have to watch live.

    https://www.eyestreamtv.net/channels

You need to have one of the supported devices to download their app. Like a fire stick 4k, Apple TV, Nvidia shield, chromecast, etc.

I’ve used the service at his house a few times now and it works pretty well. Not my favorite user interface but for the price and what you get I could deal with it.

  2. I don’t see how this team is worse than last year.

    -WR looks better/deeper.

-RB looks deeper (and hopefully better).

    -Tight End looks better/deeper.

-O line looks improved, especially the guard positions.

-Safety looks better with Hyde back, Poyer healthy and Rapp for depth

-D line looks better/deeper with Floyd, Poona Ford

-CB should be better too with a healthy Tre White and Benford playing well

Where are they worse besides MLB and maybe backup QB? I’d say they look better at most positions compared to last year.

They definitely face what could be a tough opponent week one. I think the Jets are going to be very hyped up and confident. I expect them to play with a lot of energy. But the Bills will hopefully be hyped up and confident too. I’m hoping the Jets will still be working out some kinks, being a new system and all. That also means the Bills won’t really have much tape though.

Even if the Bills lose week one, or start out 2-2 with 2 division losses, it’s not the end of the world. It obviously wouldn’t be ideal to start out with 2 division losses. But it wouldn’t be insurmountable. And we’ve seen teams peak too early. We’ve also seen teams start out slow and win the super bowl. Ideally, we want the Bills playing their best football entering the playoffs.

I’m not predicting anything. I’m hoping it will be a super bowl year, but who knows.

I’m going to try my best to just enjoy the ride. It’s only a game. We should enjoy it. If watching/following the Bills makes us miserable, then what are we doing? Why follow at all? Life is too short for that. My perspective has really changed with recent events that have happened in my life. I’m sick of worrying about non-consequential things like sports. I’m going to try my best to just enjoy watching the games like I do for other teams.

  3. I don’t see how anyone could be upset about this. They added a starting caliber veteran MLB to the practice squad. I think most bills fans probably would’ve been ok adding Kirksey to the 53 man roster. Getting him on the practice squad (to start with anyway) is even better.

At worst, it’s a good veteran addition to the locker room, a good insurance policy at MLB and better depth than AJ Klein.

We should be like the Chiefs and draft a worthless running back in the first round. Or the Raiders and take Clelen Ferrell in the top-10.

I don’t think we should be knocking the chiefs draft record. The chiefs are always plugging young players into the lineup and getting contributions.

Their 2022 draft class just won them a super bowl. Veach hit on almost every pick and got contributions from many 2022 drafted players right away.

I like Brandon Beane, but I’d swap him for Veach and the chiefs scouting staff in a heart beat.

Hmmm this is very interesting…. There is no way the Bills leave Buffalo after the stadium deal but can’t say the same for the Sabres.

I don’t really see Gary Bettman allowing the Sabres to move. This area is consistently one of the strongest TV markets in the NHL. Bettman had an easy chance to move the Sabres when they declared bankruptcy and the league took over operations. But he fought to keep the team in Buffalo.

Look at how he’s stuck with the Arizona Coyotes despite terrible attendance for years and major arena issues, etc. They are currently playing in a 2000 seat college arena. Bettman doesn’t move teams easily.

Tom Golisano also apparently put some type of no-movement clause in the sale of the team.

    https://www.espn.com/nhl/news/story?id=6087856

He took less money for the Sabres to ensure they never moved. Now, if Terry sells I don’t know if that clause would carry over but if it doesn’t I would hope it would be something Terry would ensure, especially with still being the owner of the Bills and a very sentimental Sabres fan.

This rumor about Pegula selling has been around for years. I’ve heard it would just be selling a minority stake in the team, but even that has been refuted. Im not sure how much stock I put into any of it anymore. I guess time will tell.

  6. The trade up for Lance has to be one of the worst in modern NFL history. They traded THREE 1sts and a 3rd for Lance, just to give up on him 2 seasons later after he played (parts of) 8 games for them. Two of the three 1sts were late picks but still…

I am a bit surprised they are giving up on him before seeing Purdy start another season for them. They better hope he’s legit. I guess they feel like if he doesn’t work out they still have Darnold? Shanahan must be pretty convinced that Lance is never going to be able to excel in the 49ers system.

  7. Yeah, that GoFundMe is just a joke. That’s why there’s no actual link to the GoFundMe. I’m guessing a fan just photoshopped a photo of Chris Jones onto a GoFundMe page and posted the picture of it as a joke.

    edit -

https://www.ky3.com/2023/08/18/jones-shoots-down-fake-gofundme-campaign-holdout-continues/#:~:text=A fan posted a photoshopped,helps%2C” the tweet read.

    yep, that’s what happened.

  8. I wonder if Breece Hall may not be ready as soon as they hoped? Or maybe they want a backup option in case he’s not back to pre-injury levels this season.

I also wonder if this signing has anything to do with keeping Aaron Rodgers happy and giving him another offensive weapon after he took that pay cut?

edit - the Jets just activated Hall off PUP. Sounds like this was more about giving Aaron Rodgers 2 good RBs, or at least according to the athletic.

    Quote

For the better part of Rodgers’ last six years in Green Bay, the Packers carried (at least) two starter-quality running backs, and split their carries evenly. For the last two years, that was Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. In 2020, it was Jones, Dillon and Jamaal Williams. And from 2017 to 2020, it was Jones and Williams.

The Jets fully believe Hall is a star. They like Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight and rookie Israel Abanikanda, too. But combine the latter three together as a package, and they still don’t quite equal what Cook can do. Even as his numbers have declined, Cook has been better (including in 2022) than any running backs the Jets have employed in a while. Hall’s ceiling is even higher. Together, if healthy, they’ll form one of the best one-two punches in the league.

“As a defensive coach, I’ll just sit there and say: Gosh, you have Breece and Michael and him, and you’ve got two of those guys in the backfield,” Saleh said. “There’s a lot of different things you can do to create a bunch of headaches for defensive coaches. (Cook)’s not a trick back, either: You can turn around and hand him the ball and he’ll run downhill. He’s done it for a long time.”

There’s also the obvious Rodgers part of the equation: He took a pay cut to save the Jets $35 million of what he was owed over the next two years to help them spend money elsewhere to improve the roster around him on their Super Bowl hunt. This, as much as any move the Jets made this offseason, felt like it had Rodgers’ desires in mind.

    Quote

If anyone thought Cook’s addition was a sign that Hall’s recovery from a torn ACL was slower than expected, the reality is actually the opposite. Hall is on track to return by Week 1, and Cook still needs some time for both personal reasons (he’s expecting a child) and health (coming off shoulder surgery).

I am so sorry to hear this. Suicide when you're contemplating it, seems like the only way out. You're truly only thinking about yourself. Hearing this, it has much farther-reaching effects. There's nothing I can say that will ease the pain.

Thank you. Appreciate it. I didn’t mean for it to sound like I was directing any anger at you or anything like that. I hope it didn’t come off that way.

I really sympathize with anyone’s who’s struggled with suicidal thoughts/attempts. Being in such a dark place that suicide seems like the only answer must be a very difficult thing. I never knew until recently that suicide is like the #9 or 10 top cause of death in the US. It makes me so sad thinking about all those people and their families.

Damn brother that sounds awful. Was he or she young, was it totally unexpected? I lost my cousin at 23 to an o.d and best friend 2 years ago at 29 to an o.d.. I carry so much guilt for both because I still feel I could have been closer when they were struggling.

Them feelings you have will get better. Promise. Might not feel that way right now, It feels like it'll last forever but time will heal it to an extent.  Just hang in there, tell the family that he wouldn't want you guys suffering with that pain. Keep ya head up brother

Thank you. Appreciate it. Yes, he was young (30’s). And yes, totally unexpected. Nobody even knew he was struggling, not even his wife and they were very close. He even made plans with her for that day and was in communication with her and others that day. That’s one of the things that’s made it so hard. It really caught us all by surprise and it’s hard to make sense of. It also makes it hard knowing he never even attempted to get help.

I’m doing ok though. A lot better than the first month or two. I know it’s going to take time.

edit - my condolences for your losses as well.

I didn't watch it, but read that when he was diagnosed with Bipolar, he didn't accept it and went into a spiral. As one who also has Bipolar, unless you find the right partner/therapy/medication, it is nothing to play around with. I was standing on the deck of the Golden Gate Bridge, ready to jump. My therapist at the time played around with my medication. Thankfully I walked off and went to the Psych ER instead, got my meds straightened out, and reconnected with my now wife 4 months later.

    Thank God.!

Ya I've had some hard times where I thought about it, never attempted but i had the mentality that i was going to 1 day , mainly due to substance abuse and being young, thinking I ruined my life forever.  AA and NA meetings helped alot and made me realize I'm not alone or special and many ppl have a similar story and got me out of that thinking and on the right track

I am so glad you both were able to find the help you needed! It warms my heart to hear that.

As someone who just lost a close family member to suicide a few months ago, it is absolutely devastating. I can’t even put it into words besides to say It has destroyed our lives. Even just waking up in the morning, knowing we have to get through another day, feels overwhelming. It honestly feels like nothing will ever be the same. It’s like living in a nightmare. We are all in therapy, trying to recover and deal with the PTSD from the events of that day and finding him (it was gruesome, I’ll leave it at that…). Even some of his friends are in therapy.

Suicide is a loss like I’ve never experienced before. Any loss is hard to deal with and I am not trying to compare, but it is just so different than any loss I’ve experienced. The questions you are left with that you will never be able to get answers to drive you insane, as does the guilt/remorse. The anger can be overwhelming at times too.

I can confidently say that It is not a solution to any problem. It destroys your life and the lives of everyone you love.

I just edited my post. I forgot I was behind in the game. Lol. I meant that (last?) Barkley TD drive with the TD pass to Patmon at the end. Allen came out and did that celebration with Barkley and it looked like he possibly had a call sheet in his hand. I also saw a radio on his waist line but I rewound and didn’t see him wearing a headset so I’m thinking maybe not.

so I guess the answer was ‘yes’ after all…

Well that's what you get when your use to being a loser & you have to make changes to become a winner . Even the NFL has softened to todays standards .

It would be great to go back to say the 90's and inject these players into a practice back then when they had 2 a days & hitting like they had back then boy i can just imagine the whining you'd hear from some of the players today .

Excellence in anything you do is not easy to come by it must be earned by hard work !!

There are still just as many excellent players today as back then, and I would argue they work even harder. Today’s players are in MUCH better shape compared to the 90’s players, where offseason workouts weren’t really a thing. You came to camp to get in shape. There were 90’s era players who even smoked. Today’s players have no real offseason. They train year round.

So there’s no need to go back in time…

I’d argue that NFL games today are about as exciting ad they’ve ever been, too.

  14. I legitimately look forward to watching Hard Knocks every year. I tried to watch the first episode of this new season last night and ended up turning it off about 1/2 way through. It was just an Aaron Rodgers love fest. 🤮 I don’t know that I’ve ever seen any player get their ass kissed by hard knocks quite like that before.

It was also a pretty boring episode from what I watched.

I don’t know if I’m even going to be able to watch hard knocks this year if every episode is going to be like that.

The only guy I can see out there on the market that it may be worth considering is Bridgewater. The concern with him is you have to change your entire offense from Josh because he is so different in style, but then that kind of applies to Barkley too and Bridgewater is a better version of Barkley.

I dunno, I feel like that must be worth a phone call to his agent?

NFL network reporting that he’s signing with Detroit.
