I thought I actually heard something snap.

His knee is going 90 degrees sideways.

I saw that live. It made me queasy. Gave me flashbacks to my knee injury.

I actually had a very similar knee injury, except that my knee was bent 90° in the wrong direction forward. It completely tore my ACL, MCL, ripped a big chunk of my meniscus right off the bone and chipped my knee bone.

My first knee doctor was one of the guys who works on the Bills and UB football players and he told me he never drained more fluid from someone’s knee than mine. It looked like I had a watermelon around my knee 😂

    I really feel for Chubb.

Well to be fair 2018 is when we drafted Dahlin.. which is when I said our pipeline actually changed.. we've became loaded from 18 to 23

Our pipeline in 2014-2015 was barren.. besides Jack eichel and Sam Reinhart.. which shot us to the top of the rankings because we had two projected superstars

But they started playing in Buffalo at 19 years old ... They never really were a part of a pipeline... They were thrown right to the big leagues..  they weren't seasoned in the minor leagues... The difference between 2014 and 2023... Is we have bona fide top 6 forwards in the minor league system.. we didn't have that outside of Jack and Sam

Take Reinhardt and eichel off the prospect list... And it's horrible

Yes, I agree. They’ve never had a prospect pool like this since the rebuild started in 2013. They have good prospects in juniors, the AHL, Russia, Europe… it’s crazy!

I was just saying that the #1 prospect pool ranking (the ranking itself) probably doesn’t mean much to Sabres fans that haven’t really been following the team lately like pine barrens.

Eichel and Reinhart almost came straight to the NHL... eichel did Reinhardt took one year

They really weren't part of our minor league pipeline system.. Reinhardt for like a year

Sabers had some good young talent coming straight up.. but our minor league pipeline was absolutely still pretty bare even in 2016... Certainly not the best in the NHL

It's nothing like today.. where we have future top 6 forwards in the OHL and WHL and in Rochester

We didn't have that in 2016... We had two 19 year olds who were supposed to be studs.. that's about it

The Sabres still had the #1 prospect pool ranking in 2014/15, 2018 and numerous top 3 rankings too.

But I agree, this time is different. They have an insane amount of good prospects right now. And it’s actually transferring to the ice this time. Prospects are developing, both in the AHL and NHL.

I wasn’t disagreeing with your post BTW. I was just pointing out that to a casual Buffalo Sabres fan who hasn’t been paying attention to this latest version of the rebuild, I can see why a top prospect pool doesn’t mean a whole lot to them.

That certainly isn't true your first statement lol

The 2000 years that were really good we sapped our entire pipeline to stay relevant

Trading away prospects and picks to remain relevant...

The sabres pipeline has been entirely rebuilt starting with Dahlin pick...

Matthew savoie , isik Rosen , Zach Benson .. we have stud under 20 kids and a lot more

i think he’s talking about 2015-2020 ish with the old core like Eichel, Reinhart, Nylander, etc. It is true that the Sabres had the #1 ranked prospect pool multiple times during the previous rebuild and it never led to winning.

However, I do think this time is different. Their pipeline this time is sooooo deep. Way deeper than any time in the last decade or more. And it actually seems like the kids are developing this time. Plus, they’re already having success in the NHL.

I am really looking forward to this season!

Wonder if he'll be back available soon.

    Wtf?! What happened?

edit - I had read about him asking p,Ayers to share photos of their families to get to know each other better. Apparently this all stems from that? I don’t get why he was forced to resign over that.

  6. Good article on the athletic that touched on some of this:

    https://theathletic.com/4867821/2023/09/16/josh-allen-bills-quarterback-turnovers/

“You don’t just have to run around willy-nilly,” Gilbride said. “That’s kind of what I’m seeing with Allen. He’s looking to take off too early. Sometimes you have no choice and that’s a great weapon. He’s a big, powerful, courageous kid. Sometimes that becomes almost a crutch that’s overused.”

“Aaron Rodgers a few years ago, he had gotten to the point where he was so good at the secondary phases of the routes and scramble mode that I got the sense that’s what he was looking for rather than throwing the ball on time,” Gilbride said. “He had a terrible year and I was breaking down the games for Sunday Night Football for Cris Collinsworth. I just said, ‘He’s all out of whack here. He’s all out of rhythm. He’s trying to make a big play on every play.’ That’s kind of what Allen is doing. But he’s doing it more with his running or running around and then throwing.”

Gilbride said when he watched Allen in the playoffs against the Chiefs two years ago, he saw a quarterback in rhythm, one who was looking to beat Kansas City from the pocket first and run if he had to. When he watched toward the end of last season and even in the preseason this year, something had changed.

“He wasn’t in rhythm,” Gilbride said. “He wasn’t looking to make the throws all the time. He wasn’t getting the ball out on time.”

Gilbride said Allen needs to get back to being a point guard, where he’s distributing the ball to his playmakers. Right now, he’s not trying to solve his problems by throwing, and that’s throwing the offense off. It’s also providing a blueprint for defenses.

“I would take away the quick throws outside,” Gilbride said. “Right now he’s much more comfortable throwing the clear, easy-to-read stuff outside the numbers. I would play as much quarters coverage (as I could) to force him to read stuff in the middle of the field, force him to see the high-low stuff and make decisions. I’m not sure he’s reading those things at all. That’s what I would do to slow him down.”

Last season. This season I'd be shocked. And really the Eagles should have won if Hurts hadn't inexplicably dropped the ball.

For all the talk about the AFC being a gauntlet, the Eagles, 49ers, and Cowboys all look pretty clearly like the best teams in the league IMO.

Yes, the Eagles are 2-0 but IMO they don’t belong in the same conversation (at least right now) as the 49ers and Cowboys, who both dominated week one.

I haven’t been impressed by the eagles offense at all so far the first 2 games of this season. Their defense has looked good and they’ve been pretty darn lucky with turnovers. But their offense has looked nothing like last season so far IMO. I think Hurts looks pedestrian. I think the play calling has been questionable. Their passing game has been mediocre at best. They were able to run the ball last night. But week one they were lucky to even win against the patriots. They really didn’t do that much outside of those 2 turnovers early in the game.

check out the stats on the eagles offense through 2 games:

    https://www.nfl.com/teams/philadelphia-eagles/stats

It’s way too soon to say which conference will be the toughest this season anyway. The first weeks of the NFL season are always unpredictable. The eagles do have a new OC too, so I’m sure they are going through some growing pains. I expect their offense to play better as the season goes on.

Evidence is a poor choice of words.  You dismiss the report and says you see zero chance of it happening, yet you have no information to back that up except pure speculation.  I am not even claiming he did say it, but there was a report filed on one end very soon after the zoom call, it was followed up weekly for months to 2 separate individuals, and then it was promptly ignored.  People don't typically file complaints and put that much effort into it for it to be purely phony.

It was reported that there was an investigation by the NFL into the claim. They talked to everyone at the dinner and nobody remembered him saying that.

    https://x.com/kfitz134/status/1701645969090081021?s=61&t=mvFwLU5P2NuqNnOmVpYtwg

Also, the person who filed this complaint and was continually following up on it (Trotter) was not the same person who supposedly heads Pegula say this. He filed his complaint based on 2nd hand info. So his persistence doesn’t mean much as far as whether Pegula said it or not.

    edit: from the article:

    Quote

A league source told The Buffalo News that the alleged comment was thoroughly investigated, including interviews with Terry and his wife and co-owner, Kim Pegula – who both denied the statement – and every other person at the dinner where this conversation purportedly took place.

The investigation took place shortly after the comment was brought to the league’s attention, and no one else from the dinner recalled the statement being made, according to this source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The dinner took place in 2018 and no one complained about the purported racist remark until the 2020 NFL Media video call, the source said.

so the comment was supposedly made in 2018, and the reporter  brought it up on a zoom call in 2020.

Deal is worth up to $25 million.

    Quote

Jones will sign a one-year contract worth up to $25 million, per sources informed of the situation.

The $19.5 million base salary he was already set to make (minus $1.08 million game check for Week 1 and fines incurred for skipping training camp) remains the same, but he has the chance to make more with another successful campaign.

The details of Jones' incentives are as follows, according to Rapoport:

$1 million for 35% playing time.

$1 million for 50% playing time

    $1.25 million for 10 sacks.

    Another $500K for 15 sacks.

$1 million for first-team All Pro and Super Bowl LVIII appearance

$2 million for Defensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl LVIII win.

A notable aspect of the pact is that Kansas City retained the ability to franchise tag Jones in 2024, ensuring leverage over the star defensive tackle and potentially keeping him off the open market. The tag number would be about $32.4 million in 2024, NFL Network's James Palmer reported (a 120% increase on his 2023 cap number).

Looking at the incentives, unless he’s injured he should easily hit the first 2, making the contract likely worth at least $21.5M. He might be able to hit the 10 sack incentive, which would push the contract value up to $22.75M.

The last $3.5M in incentives will be harder to hit and depend more on the chiefs as a whole.

Chiefs also retain the ability to tag him.

So he’s really not getting that much more.
