  1. Unless they gave him some ridiculous money/term, which I don't see happening, I can't see any down side to signing him. I've wanted Boldin all offseason, so I'm really hoping it gets done. But even if it doesn't, it seems pretty clear that OBD is most likely going to make an addition to the WR corps between now and the start of the season. I'm sure there will be some good WR's available between now and then. It'd be nice to get a quality guy like Boldin in before training camp though.
  2. http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/07/8_things_we_learned_from_buffalo_bills_gm_brandon_beane_before_training_camp.html#incart_river_index Didn't see this posted anywhere, figured I'd share. Beane's happy here 'When the Panthers fired Dave Gettleman, it seemed like Beane might be kicking himself. After all, he was next in line to take over as Carolina's general manager before he left for Buffalo. However, given the dysfunction in Carolina's front office, Beane feels at home in Buffalo, where he is comfortable with ownership and the stability he has. Plus, the Panthers and Jerry Richardson had a chance to hire him in 2012 when he was the interim general manager. "I still felt like, you know, there was a lot of momentum in the building for me to get it and a little bit in the city," Beane said. "But you know how it goes, you guys are in that business. A lot of writers are looking for big names. And I wasn't a big name. And I think there was a lot of pressure on (Richardson) to bring in a name other than somebody from the same regime that he just fired from. It was fun for that three months. It was also a little bit gut-wrenching to have it taken away at the same time." Also, here as a couple more good articles from NYUpstate. They're linked at the bottom of the article I shared above, but I figured I'd make it easier and post them here too. 3. I've wanted the Bills to bring him in all offseason. Glad it's happening. At one time he was among the elite WR's in the NFL. He's obviously not the player that he used to be, but he could definitely still comtribute to Buffalo's WR corps IMO, and could potentially be a good veteran mentor for our younger receivers/players. I don't see where it'd hurt the Bills locker room to have some more good veteran's in it. Wonder where he would slot in on the depth chart?
  4. Wow. Seriously, how old are you? You have to be a pretty young kid. What, like 12, 13? Listen, for the 3rd time, nobody here cares about your I told you so's. Why do you think anyone gives a crap about it? You will most likely be banned again before you we even get to the end of this season anyway. And I have never once said that I think Tyrod is the answer at QB. Only that he is the best option for this season. So, the only way you end up being right is if Cardale earns the starting job and plays better than Tyrod. Or goes somewhere else and becomes a better NFL starting QB than Tyrod is. Until then, you are not right about anything. You think Cardale is a better option than Tyrod, so until he proves he is you can't say jack ****. Cardale never got benched by the Bills BTW, because he never even came close to earning the starting job in order to get benched. Tyrod's pay has nothing to do with him starting over Cardale. His play vs Cardale's play does. He was given that contract by Whaley anyway, so why would our new coach and GM feel obligated to start him? They didn't feel obligated to pick up Sammy's 5th year option or keep other players signed by Whaley. So why would it be different for Tyrod? Tyrod is starting because his play has been by far the best on the roster since McDermott got here. You just make it so easy for me, don't you... I really am done with this conversation now. It is absolutely pointless.
  5. I have heard/read the same thing. Everyone has said that Tyrod has been far and away the best QB on the roster so far. I am really hoping with some development and arm strength improvement that Peterman can eventually make a push for the starting job, or at least be a very competent backup. He has a number of the (important) things you look for in a starting QB, IMO. But as of now, I think it looks like Tyrod #1, Yates #2 and Peterman #3 for this coming season. It is looking like Cardale will be the odd man out but that could all change with a good showing in camp.
  6. I had that same thought. Definitely interesting that his release comes very shortly after he made those comments. Could just be coincidence, or could be related.
  7. Do you think Cardale Jones is a better QB than Tyrod and if so why hasn't he taken the starting job from Tyrod yet? Why is he moving down the depth chart instea of up it? That was the whole point of my statement. Noogie also implied that Cardale was better than the guys in front of him at Ohio St. which is why I brought up the benching.
  8. Cardale played more than 3 games in college... Now I am honestly wondering if you even watched much of Cardale's college career if you think he only played 3 total games. As far as answering you now, I am not really 100% sure what you're even asking me. Maybe try writing it in a coherent sentence structure. But I'll give it a try - Were what guys in front of him better? JT Barrett and Braxton Miller at Ohio State? Yes, they were. That's why they were ahead of him on the depth chart. Look up their stats, watch some Ohio St games. They were better. Cardale only played those 3 games in 2014 because the guys in front of him got hurt, not because he legitimately won the starting job. Those guys in front of him were the ones that helped win a whole ton of games during the season to get Ohio St to the championship in the first place. Were they drafted to play QB? Well, Braxton Miller switched to WR in his last year in college (2015) because he had 2 shoulder surgeries and could no longer play QB anymore. JT Barrett is returning this year for his senior season of college football, so no has not entered the draft yet therefore he obviously couldn't have been drafted. But yes, he will be drafted to play QB in the 2018 draft. And what supplemental draft are you referring to? Braxton Miller was taken in the 3rd round of the regular 2016 draft. There were not even any players drafted in the 2016 supplemental draft... and again Barrett hasn't entered the draft yet. As far as where Tyrod and Peterman were drafted, one in the 6th and the other in the 5th. But so what? What's your point? It doesn't mean he is a better QB because of draft position. Doug Whaley once took EJ Manuel in the 1st round, and Tyrod was still better than him. Tom Brady was a 6th round pick. Must mean that Cardale is better than him too, since he went in the 4th right? You're talking a whole 30-40 spot different in the draft between Cardale and Tyrod/Peterman. That's not at all significant when it comes to the later rounds. But Both Tyrod and Nate Peterman were better college QBs than Cardale. IMO Whaley reached on Cardale because all the other QBs he wanted were off the board and he had an extra comp pick, so he took a gamble on a raw QB to try and develop. So far from all accounts he hasn't shown much development.
  9. Was he a 1-5 round pick? Lmao. What is the difference between the success rate of a QB drafted in the 4th-5th round and one drafted in the 6th round? Why draw some arbitrary line at the 5th round, when the success rate of a 5th round pick compared to a 6th round pick is no different? How silly. Cardale was drafted with a comp 4th round pick, which is technically the 5th round because they are given to teams after that current round is over. You have not shown at all that you know talent. You thought Jordan Mills played great last year. You think Cardale Jones is better than Tyrod (and that's only 2 of your many terrible football takes). That shows that you have no idea how to evaluate football. If you want someone to actually take your supposed football knowledge seriously, you have to first show that you actually possess some football knowledge. Until then you're just talking out your ass dude. Ok, I have a question for you - if Tyrod is as terrible a QB as you say he is, how come your boy Cardale has not been able to beat him out for the starting job? If Cardale is so much better, shouldn't he easily take the starting job from Tyrod? Cardale must be pretty terrible himself if he can't beat out the terrible Tyrod, no? Why did Cardale get benched in college if he's so great? Why was the starting job taken away from him? Tyrod never lost his starting job in college...
  10. How can you call yourself a Bills fan when you are legitimately rooting for the Bills QB to fail, just so you can say "I told you so"? Bills fans root for their team to succeed, not fail. You think Cardale Jones gives the Bills a better shot to win this season than Tyrod, yet you're trying to school us? GTF outta here man. If the coaches and GM actually thought that Cardale gave the team a better chance to win, there is absolutely no way that he would have been dropped to 4th on the depth chart. He couldn't even hold onto the 3rd string position! Tell us again how great Jordan Mills was last season... lol
  11. Oh man these Tyrod threads can be hilarious. There is really a "special" breed of poster(s) who stick to only posting in these TT threads...
  12. Just watched this. Am I wrong, or were like half of those clips of Ronald Darby? Some were Gilmore (#24) but it looked like some were of Darby (#27), unless I just missed Gilmore in those clips?
  13. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I knew Roman only coordinated the run game in SF, but I was under the impression he ran the entire offense here.
  14. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see what this D line can do under Waufle. So excited for camp to start...
  15. I'm assuming you mean Derek Carr, but since when does he not have any weapons? Amari Cooper and Crabtree are not big name weapons? Latavius Murray is not a weapon? Crabtree and Cooper were both over 1000yd receivers, and Murray has been over 1000yd rusher. Those 2 receivers are better than anything the Bills had last year, that's for sure. I'd take Shady over Murray though. Man, your football takes are terrible dude.
  16. Eh, I think a lot of it comes down to winning. From what I remember, the Bills were a pretty marketable team back in the glory years of the '90's. They were actually one of those trendy teams that gathered bandwagon fans. You'd see people wearing Bills gear all around the country, and even the world. They'd have bills apparel in Hollywood movies and you'd even see celebrities wearing Bills gear. It would probably take an amazing run of winning/championship(s) to get anywhere near the marketability level of the top teams, especially after 17yrs of total irrelevance. But like you said, start winning games and get a star QB and we will get more TV coverage for sure.
  17. I find it kind of ironic that you count Tyrod's 4 years sitting on the bench (where he threw a grand total of like 35 passes in that entire 4 years, and was learning a completely different system than the one he ended up starting in, in Buffalo), yet you make no mention of Jim Kelly's years as a starting QB in the USFL after college, before he ever started a game in the NFL. Kelley was drafted in '83, but never played a game for Buffalo until '86. He spent those years starting for the Houston Gamblers, where as Tyrod spent 4 years sitting on the bench. So which one was more prepared to start their NFL career? It's debatable. I don't know if Tyrod will get much better than he is now, but it's not impossible like you seem to think. He's only started in the NFL for TWO YEARS. Not 6. If this new system fits him better, it's very possible that he could take a step forward. But even if he doesn't, he is a serviceable starting QB until we draft and develop a true franchise caliber replacement, which is what you seem to be completely ignoring.... If we dump Tyrod, tell us, who do we replace him with right now that would be as good, let alone better? And don't say Cardale...
  18. Very well said. Beane's hired an all star cast of talent evaluators to surround himself with. And for the record, he does have years of experience evaluating talent under Dave Gettleman. DG was training him in that area. We've had a scout running the team and it didn't end up working out all that well. I like that Beane is very well rounded in almost every aspect of running an NFL team and I think he seems to have a clear vision on how he wants to build this thing. There are entire teams of scouts and personnel directors for a reason. I'd rather have a collaborative vision and talent evaluation anyway. I actually kind of like that he's not a scout. If the Bills drafts are not up to par, he can fire some of our current talent evaluators and bring in someone else, where as if an ex scout GM doesn't end up being too great at drafting, we are stuck with his sub par drafts until he is fired.
  19. Most of what you said is so far off that I am not even going to bother trying to address it. But, as for my excuses - tell me, what excuses did I make for Tyrod in my post? I did not see any. And as for you're "I told you so" comment - I am rooting for Tyrod because he is the Bills starting QB and I want the Bills to be successful. I could care less about your "I told you so". What are you, 12? Should we all say "I told you so" if/when Cardale ends up most likely getting cut (or is at best our 4th string QB), and is out of the NFL in a matter of a few years, while Tyrod will still be a starter or backup somewhere for many years to come? I won't bother though because it's childish, and nobody cares about some random poster on a message board who wants to act like they know everything... and I am also not rooting against Cardale because he is a Buffalo Bill, therefore I want him to succeed. I would never root against an active Buffalo Bills player because I am an actual Buffalo Bills fan. You are clearly not a true Blls fan. You'd rather have Tyrod fail so you can say "I told you so" than have him succeed and, in turn, have the Bills succeed. I didn't realize that you were BuffaloBud420 though, so I'm done now. It's pointless even trying to have a discussion with you.
  20. Yeah, then Bruce Allen publicly stating that Cousins and his agent were not even willing to exchange any contract offers, I think it's pretty safe to say that Cousins is as good as gone next season (if they don't give him the exclusive tag again). I think he's been as good as gone for over a year though, IMO. I don't know exatly why, but there is definitely something preventing them from getting a deal done. I read a rumor a while back that he was unwilling to stay as long as as Allen was running things. I don't know how much truth there is to it but I sure don't find it too hard to believe.
  21. There are a very small handful of QBs in the NFL that can consistently put their a team on their shoulders and win games, and even the few who can were not necessarily able to do it in their first couple seasons starting, and almost definitely not on a consistent basis. If the Bills are getting rid of every QB that's unable to do that consistently, we won't have a QB to play the games. Tyrod is by no means elite. He has plenty of flaws to work on to be considered a franchise type QB, and he may never get to that level. But like him or not, he's the best QB the Bills have had in easily over a decade, probably more like 2. You don't just throw him away for the dream of an upgrade (and no, Cardale is by no means an upgrade as of now). All we can hope is that our new GM and coach will continue to draft and develop QBs until one of them cements themselves as that true franchise caliber guy. But there's nothing wrong with starting Tyrod until someone legitimately EARNS the starting job away from him. If Cardale is able to do that, great! But he hasn't even come close to doing it yet. By almost all accounts he has really been struggling so far, and is 4th (last) on the depth chart right now for a reason... I also disagree about Cardale being able to put a team on his back. IMO I've seen him do it once, maybe a couple times if I'm being generous. His very first start was fantastic, but he tailed off in his next 2, then struggled big time the next season. Ezekiel Elliott and Ohio State's run game carried that team way more than Cardale ever did. That team was fantastic, and one of the best coached teams in college football. That 2014 offense was the 2nd highest scoring offense in team history (only behind the 2013 offense) and it had nothing to do with Cardale (he didn't even play till the last 3 games to end the season). That offense was built to put up points. Ezekiel Elliott and QB JT Barrett carried that team in 2014 and Elliott again in 2015, and even though Barrett didn't start the first 7 games he still blew Cardale out of the water in TDs. In 2014 Barrett threw for 34 TDs, Elliott had 18. In 2015 Elliott ran for 23 TDs, JT Barrett accounted for 22 TDs (11 rushing, 11 passing, and that was with Cardale starting the first 7 games), and Cardale accounted for a total of 10... I would also argue that Tyrod carried his college team to more wins than Cardale ever did at Ohio St. But college is college, and the NFL is the NFL. All that matters is what he's able to do in the NFL, and so far he hasn't been able to do squat. He struggled even running the practice squad! I have really seen nothing from Cardale that makes me think he has the ability to put a team on his back and carry it so far. I'd be thrilled if he does, but as of now it looks like there's a better chance he will be cut, and if he's lucky will end up on some team's practice squad. He has a ways to go before he's even close to ready to be an NFL starter, and that's just the reality of the situation right now (not to sound like a jerk or anything). And last - it's terrible that you are rooting for TT to fail. That means you are rooting against the Buffalo Bills. Hard to call yourself a Bills fan when you say you "can't wait for TT to fail"...
  22. This kind of lends a bit of credence to a theory I've brought up a number of times over the past couple years - that one of the reasons I felt Gilmore would not end up re-signing in Buffalo was because he wanted to play on prime time TV much more often. IMO, He always seemed jealous to me that he wasn't mentioned as one of the top CB's in the NFL, and I really think that he felt the reason for that was because he didn't get the national spotlight that some other CB's get. I don't think that was the only reason he didn't sign here. Money and winning were likely bigger factors, but I do think it was part of the reason.
  23. I do think that some front offices "tank" on occasion (like the Browns recently, and possibly the Jets this season). I'm not sure if their ultimate goal is losing (although i find it very hard to argue that the Browns had any aspirations of winning games when they basically purged their roster of the little talent that it had 2 seasons ago and I suspect that's part of the Jets plan this year - lose games to get a top QB next year, but that's just speculation on my part at this point), but they're definitely not trying to win either. I guess that's just part of a full scale rebuild, though. But I agree in that I don't think any NFL coach or players try to purposely lose games. I also agree with what you said about the Bills not tanking. Like you said, Tyrod and Kyle (etc) would not have been brought back if that was the goal. I don't think Tyrod is only a $1M dead cap hit if cut next year, though, is he? It shows an $8.6M dead cap hit on overthecap.com (pre-June 1st) and a $9M cap savings, which still isn't terrible especially since it's only for a season. I think a post-June 1st cut is cheaper, but spread out longer? I'm not sure though. But yeah, I just don't see what the Bills are doing as tanking in any way, shape or form. I'm not really even sure what someone could point to as to (legitimate) reasons why the Bills are tanking... I don't think they would have signed Hyde, or went afte Maclin and Barnidge, or traded up in the draft twice to plug holes on their roster if the goal was to tank.
