    Me.

Well written piece. Your description gives a sense how downtrodden the area is and also the promise of it. Outsiders don't realize that there is a resilient and lively community surrounded by worn out buildings. I'm hoping that the proposed development of the train station facility and the selection of it for a train station gives a boost to that area.

As a former Canisius Crusader I have to give you the credit you deserve on this project. Well done!

Wow, my piece must have been pretty good if a daisy is giving me credit

  2. I have written as a neXt correspondent for the Buffalo news for 4 years now. This might be my best work!

Background- about two months ago I went for a photography trip by myself down Broadway to the former St. Anne's church. It inspired me to write this little piece. All pictures are by me (the actual paper had eight pictures, the website only has three).

Featured on the next section cover today, maybe some of you saw it.

    Hope you guys enjoy.

    March 22, 2017 NFL

    Dear Fans,

Here at the NFL, we have a relentless drive to improveparticularly when it comes to the way fans experience our game.

In order to understand how we might deliver a better and more exciting entertainment experience for you, we embarked on a specific project before the start of the 2016 season to gather feedback about the in-stadium and live NFL game viewing experience.

Consistently, we heard from fans that we can improve in two key areas: the flow and pace of the game, and commercialization and the number of unnecessary disruptions to the game on the field.

Today, I want to tell you about some of the ways we are working to address that.

On the football side, there are a number of changes we are making to the mechanics and rules of the game to maintain excitement and also improve the consistency of our officiating.

For example, next week clubs will vote on a change to centralize replay reviews. Instead of a fixed sideline monitor, we will bring a tablet to the Referee who can review the play in consultation with our officiating headquarters in New York, which has the final decision. This should improve consistency and accuracy of decisions and help speed up the process.

Regarding game timing, we're going to institute a play clock following the extra point when television does not take a break, and we're considering instituting a play clock after a touchdown. We're also going to standardize the starting of the clock after a runner goes out-of-bounds, and standardize halftime lengths in all games, so we return to the action as quickly as possible. Those are just a few of the elements we are working on to improve the pace of our game.

Together with our broadcast partners, we will be working to meaningfully reduce down time and the frequency of commercial breaks in our game. We will also be giving our broadcast partners increased flexibility to avoid untimely breaks in the action. For example, we know how annoying it is when we come back from a commercial break, kick off, and then cut to a commercial again. I hate that too. Our goal is to eliminate it.

We also know that you feel there are too many elements in the broadcast that aren't relevant to the play on the field. With our partners, we will be looking to instead focus on content that is most complementary and compelling to youwhether that is analysis, highlights or stories about our players.

All of these changes are meant to give you more of what you want: a competitive game with fewer interruptions and distractions from the action.

There is much more work to do in the coming seasons as we continue to listen and learn. But these positive changes are intended to create a better experience for you, our fans.

We hope that you will continue to give us feedback on how we can improve.

Thank you for all that you do for our players, our teams and our game.

    Roger Goodell

This will be great if he's actually trying to get rid of extra commercials. A lot of this is just damage control for the tanking ratings, but I think it will help clearing commercials and fixing the refereeing issues. I especially like the tablet idea with a link to central command.

  4. I would add the Untouchables to my top five list if Kevin Costner made more than one facial expression playing Elliot Ness. Robert De Nero was excellent as Capone, and Sean Connery was awesome as usual.

Actually speaking of Connery, I would add Hunt for the Red October and Last Crusade to my list of honorable mentions. This is hard.

  5. Almost every episode is at clubmst3k.com. Sometimes the production companies pull them (The Thing that Couldn't Die was pulled from a long time) but usually they are on YouTube.

Just finished I Accuse My Parents. Hilarious.

Invastion of the Neptune men is the worst movie I've ever seen. Very little entertainment value, even with M+TB's treatment. The only thing I remember is the aliens blowing up the Hitler Building (stock footage)

  6. The discussion in the favorite movies thread inspired me to create this one.

For those unaware, Mystery Science Theatre 3000 was a cult classic show that ran from '89 to the late 1990s on Comedy Central, and, later, the Sci Fi channel.

It centered on a "guy named Joel" who has been trapped in space because "his bosses didn't like him." As part of their experiment, he is forced to watch terrible B-movies while his bosses monitor his brain.

To stay sane, Joel creates some robot friends, Tom Servo, Crow T. Robot, Gypsy and Cambot. Together, they riff on the terrible movies and keep their sanity. Joel was replaced with Mike Nelson halfway through, carrying the show for another 5 seasons.

Here's a sample of what might be the guys at their peak form:

I know we have a few MST3K fans here...do we have more?

What are your favorite episodes? You guys excited for the reboot?

    Discuss!

  7. Yeah, those two are really bad. I think MST3K did all of the Coleman Francis directed movies.

Invasion of the Neptune Men, is a painful one to sit through.

A couple that I would add would be, Monster A Go-Go, and Ring of Terror. Monster in particular is so ridiculous, but Joel & the bots do a good job with it. Ring is just so boring.

I think thats why Manos is not a bad episode...JATB really go to town, especially when Torgo shows up.

One of my favorites is San Francisco International starring Pernell Roberts. The last few scenes with Davy is an example of the very best of MST3K.

  8.

If anyone one at One Bills Drive is thinking 7 wins would be a decent season, every single one of them should be fired for holding on to Tyrod. You either think you have the team to make the playoffs or rebuild now. The biggest mistake was not letting Kyle Williams go to a contender, holding on to Alexander and not trying to trade Shady when his stock is at its peak. 7 wins is garbage and if that is in the cards, the Bills really looked at this season upside down.

Getting rid of Shady at his prime would be the Billsiest thing of all. We are keeping the top ten scoring offense and the top rushing offense intact. That is a good thing.

  9. Loved this show.

Can't wait to see how the Netflix version will turn out. Patton Oswalt looks like he could be the son of TV's Frank, and Felicia Day as Dr. Forrester's daughter is so delicious.

This might be worthy of it's own thread, but for those who loved MST3K, what do you think was the worst movie they ever spoofed? I'm sure a lot of fans will say "Manos: The Hands of Fate", and they would be justified with that pick. It would be fun to decide that.

I got to say Red Zone Cuba or Invasion of the Neptune Men. The latter was so freaking terrible that even MST3k couldn't save it.

  10. Top 5 TV shows of all time?? A great (and impossible) topic. KD has a point, half hour comedies and hour long dramas have little in common and probably should be their own categories. I'm almost tempted to say the same about cable and network shows because those are different beasts as well. Tom also had a point about how much to weigh the historical impact of a show... and there's also the issue of how to classify a show which had a couple great seasons but ended poorly.

I'll have to think on it a bit more before committing my list to digital ink. But I'm surprised it's been 4 pages and there hasn't been a single Arrested Development mention -- but conversely, I'm glad MST3K is getting so much love.

Hope they don't ruin it on Netflix. Hearing positive things though.

By the way, you suppose there is beer on the sun?
