  1. I said for the most part There's obviously some psychopaths... But it is a fraternity These guys hang out with each other in the off seasons and their families hang out.. it's a very small fraternity of NFL players It would be an extremely extremely extremely small minority who go out with intent to injure... Colleges will kick a kid off of a program if he continually is dirty Football is violent but that doesn't mean there's not an insane amount of respect between coaches and players Greg Williams and bounty gate is the minority... And he's sick
  2. Again.. football is still my job I defend players and coaches for the most part.. it's a fraternity I don't know the guy and I don't know his football history enough to judge him... If somebody could pull up weeks and weeks of tape of him being dirty I have no problem admitting it But in a fast game where stuff does happen like this unfortunately... I don't like to think that people a part of this fraternity would just want to hurt people ... Yes Conrad doublers exist I don't think there's more than probably a couple of them in the league
  3. The media is not defending it There are plenty of coaches who will never give an opinion because it doesn't mean anything to them There are dozens of NFL coaches you'll never hear from on this.. dozens of assistant coaches.. hundreds of division 1 coaches They'll keep it to themselves Nobody is parading around saying great hit for football.. I have given multiple examples of extremely dirty plays in football To show that there are levels to dirty.. and this is basically at the bottom rung It's not taking off a helmet and trying to beat someone with it... It's not going behind a player picking him up and slamming him on his head after the whistle It was within the whistle and an illegal play according to the rules... That does not mean it's the dirtiest thing I've ever seen And I don't think the guy went into the game trying to kill Trevor Lawrence
  4. Perhaps I am But my point is that quarterbacks sliding do unfortunately get taken out.. this isn't the first time it's happened and it won't be the last He's not the first or last player to do that... And we're talking about husbands and fathers Most football players do not want to injure anybody
  5. There are plenty of football players who have taken piss poor angles .. lead with their helmets etc over the years The play is happening a lot faster than what people are making it seem.. sure did he lead with a forearm yes In a game of milliseconds I don't think he's thinking I'm going to throw up my forearm and take his head off.. I just think it happened .. I've hit plenty of people with my helmet over the years in a bang bang play and I never thought I'm going to lead with my helmet... It just happens occasionally I think he did it without thinking... It happened I don't think he planned it The difference is dirty players go out with the intent to be dirty all the time.. I don't know this guy good enough and I don't watch his film to know what type of guy he is But the speed of the game is immense and at the end of the day you're talking about raising his forearm in a millisecond decision... If he was clocking dudes heads all day I can see intent But he literally had milliseconds Not 3 seconds
  6. I've seen the hit... It's all so not as cut and dry as everybody is making it seem It was a very very fast play and yeah he did lead with his forearm
  7. Lots of NFL players don't wrap up now and shoulder tackle Just hit someone as hard as they can with their chest or forearm or shoulder I agree 100% forearms are dangerous and that is why you can't use your forearm on a defenseless player... That's why he was flagged I think it just boils down to... Do you really think before the game started he said I will do whatever it takes to take out Lawrence... If you believe yes then that is intent and it would be very dirty... Or it happened on a fast football field and he just did not protect Trevor Lawrence to his best ability I'll tell you what if somebody did that on purpose I don't think he would apologize
  8. I distinguish things that happened between the whistle... Aka the hit that happened yesterday And things that happen after the whistle completely different of dirty Hauschka getting blindsided when he's walking off the field , not making himself a part of a play.. is dirty... Jim McMahon getting body slammed on his head after a play is dirty You can call this dirty.. but it's between the whistle on the field of play , where stuff like that does occur unfortunately It's a lot less dirty than body slamming a quarterback on his head after the play.. that's what I consider dirty
  9. Yeah but intent is a lot tougher to judge when there's 22 guys flying around If I came into the game saying I will do whatever it takes to take out their running back or quarterback.. and then I go through total intent If I'm just flying around football field and one play happens, where I don't protect the quarterback as much as I should have... Because he also slid late and I take his head off Illegal yes.. Violent yes I keep going back to Jim McMahon because that player had the intent to seriously injure him.. before he did it You don't go up to a quarterback after the play and body slam him on his head unless you're thinking it I don't think that player woke up with any intent to try to derail Trevor Lawrence's career.. he made a bang bang play where he did not try and protect Trevor Lawrence in the heat As I said if Lawrence slides two yards earlier I don't think he's hitting him The bang bang of the play allowed this illegal hit... If the slide happened the yards earlier I don't think he's coming in to take off his head.. because Trevor was trying to get every foot I've been in locker rooms with hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of guys over the years and it's very few who are psychopaths and have intent to be dirty and hurt
  10. Put it this way At the end of the day no coach is having the back of a player that doesn't have the respect in the locker room... No coach is backing a player who goes out of his way to harm other people... That doesn't have a place in football and coaches typically preach family Anybody who thinks people celebrate an injury like that on the football field are wrong... 99% of players and coaches never want to see that but it happens... Players are a fraternity He's not putting his ass on the line for a dirty player... He would throw him under the bus and say there's no excuse and I don't condone that The coaches reaction is all you need to know that this is unfortunately something that happens in football... Never said the guy did not crack Trevor Lawrence in the face ... He did But that also got invited because of a super late slide... If he slid yards earlier this doesn't happen.. a fast game and late sliding invited this huge illegal hit If he got down a yard and a half before that he does not get his head taken off I believe that An illegal hit happened on a play ... Does that mean this guy is targeting every single quarterback? I think there would be a lot of film to show he does I think the league would have plenty of evidence to suspend him if he is consistently targeting quarterbacks
  11. So you think of Trevor slid two yards earlier he still gets his head taken off? He doesn't
  12. Because one is a true dirty play which has no basis in football And the other there are a thousand instances of quarterbacks sliding and getting hit ... The speed of the game has milliseconds to react... He could have slid two yards earlier and it would have been avoided... But he slid late which did invite a potential late hit Yes it was a hard hit on a sliding quarterback which is against the rules but to make it full on this guy tried to kill Trevor Lawrence... That's a lot Coming out to hurt people is dirty ... There is zero proof that he goes out there with the intent to hurt people It happened on the play
  13. At the speed of the game.. it's impossible to judge intent These guys are not going 3 miles an hour.. you're going 20 miles an hour with 22 bodies flying around the field If Trevor Lawrence wanted to guarantee his safety he could have slid one or two yards earlier Late sliding is inviting a hit... Again watch Jim McMahon get body slammed on his head That is dirty on the field... This is not that You can make the case that he didn't do enough to try to protect Lawrence... But until you're running around 20 miles an hour with 22 other grown men on the field it's tough to judge intent I really doubt that guy wanted to seriously injure Lawrence because most football players are not evil
  14. Not all football players disagree with me There are plenty of coaches and players who think this was just and unfortunate incident that occurs on the football field Our old GM Whaley even said it himself ... Humans should not be playing football It is a very very very very very violent game... And that's why it's a penalty because they're trying to take some of the violence away So yes it was a penalty, and could even be an ejection according to the rules But that doesn't always equate to dirty which means intent... Dirty players have intent to be dirty Conrad dobler
  15. When that guy body slammed McMahon he knew exactly what he was doing I guarantee you before that play started that guy just was running around at 100% not thinking he's going to kill Trevor Lawrence He was playing football at full speed
  16. Actually a hit is within the bounds of the game ... Even a helmet to helmet hit is not considered intrinsically dirty because helmets make contact on every play If he took off his helmet and started beating a player with it like Myles Garrett that's not part of football Playing at full speed and hitting a sliding quarterback even if you made contact with your forearm or even your own helmet is now a penalty... But it is certainly within the bounds of what happens on a football field If you think that's the first time that's ever happened on a football field your mistaken .. sliding quarterbacks get destroyed a lot Yeah but at the speed of the game the quarterbacks still occasionally get hit If you don't want to get hit you slide extremely early.. sliding late invites hits This is a fact
  17. I never said it wasn't a penalty But to say that quarterbacks sliding and getting hit is not part of the game is crazy My point is valid.. Jim McMahon getting slammed on his head is dirty This hit is a penalty but you cannot convince me that he came into the game wanting to kill Trevor Lawrence.. the speed of the game and the milliseconds of reaction created a massive hit And he may have four armed him in the face That does not mean he went in the game planning that which would be intrinsically dirty It happens in football unfortunately
  18. There's zero chance that he came into the game thinking I'm going to take off Trevor Lawrence's head It literally is the world's fastest game with huge humans
  19. There's no garbage being argued because nobody's pro spousal Abuse This is the most violent sport in the world.. the biggest fastest human beings are in car wrecks 80 plays a game As I said dirty is when Jim McMahon got picked up and dumped on his head after a play was blown dead.. that's intrinsically dirty That hit in a game where people are running around 20 miles an hour.. where it's milliseconds... Is not intrinsically dirty It is a penalty... The guy certainly did not wake up saying I'm going to murder Trevor Lawrence today That hit happens at all levels of football from high school to college to the pros all time It's a penalty within football... It would not have been a penalty 40 years ago That's why it's not intrinsically dirty... Picking up a player and slamming them on their head was always illegal He had milliseconds to react to a quarterback where everybody is flying around.. that's the difference Fine him sure, is it a penalty yes Saying it is an intrinsically dirty play is wrong because it happens at every level of football for a hundred years.. that kind of stuff happens in football unfortunately because the speed of the game
  20. 30 years ago Trevor Lawrence would be on jacked up And they would be celebrating
  21. Yes it is .. 40 years ago it's not even a penalty There's a difference between a penalty, in the world's most physical game.. where the speed is immense Vs waking up and saying I'm going to hurt someone with intent on the field When Jim McMahon got body slammed on his head after the play that's not within football... A player who is getting hit while sliding even if it is a penalty... Is within football because these are grown men running around at 20 miles an hour playing a dangerous game If you're afraid to hit the quarterback you're going to lose.. it's not like he had five seconds to react we're talking milliseconds
  22. It was dirty when that player ran behind Jim McMahon picked him up and dumped him on his head 30 years ago This was within the bounds of what happens on a football field over the last 30 40 50 60 70 years It was dirty when the hauschka was walking off the field versus the Jets and he got blindsided out of the play This is a penalty, but at the speed of the game it happens.. I don't think that dude woke up today and said I'm going to kill Trevor Lawrence
  23. Pff sucks They have great advanced stats and analytics that coaches can use.... Their grading system is completely flawed and biased even... It's a tool , not the bar that should be set Anybody who understands football doesn't need someone else to tell them what they see... Eyes don't lie typically... I don't need their arbitrary grade Take away the nuance and it's not hard to tell who is getting their ass kicked and who's doing the kicking typically
  24. 49r fans from East Amherst lol Makes sense
