Brady has been to the last two super bowls living this way.

Ocho Cinco was on KFC radio talking about the Pats offense and why he didn't work in it.  He explained it is all about playing from in the inside out and the quick hits.  The only player that worked with an outside game was Randy Moss, a HOFer.

This is the game Daboll has learned.  The reason you seen Benjamin line up in slot and the reason Croom made team.  It is going to be about the inside of the field where the big boys play.  A place Peterman has zero issue with.  Lots of movement presnap and lots of figuring out defense presnap.  Also, why Peterman is a good fit with Daboll.

Brady throws it 30-40 yards downfield at least twice a game still to keep the safeties honest

While I agree his arm strength is a big question mark, and has been since he was drafted - two other variables you should consider before questioning his deep ball: 1) playcall - unless he's Peyton Manning, I don't see him checking down the coverage and calling hot routes on the fly, he'll execute the play as called, and 2) do we really have any deep threats in our WR corps for him to throw to? KB has size and hands, but he isn't exactly a threat to get behind the safeties and keep them honest. We have a few speedy WRs, but none that can really demand the attention and concern of the secondary. It's also pretty easy to cover against when we send the same two people deep every time they're on the field and don't mix them into other routes.

It's not exactly a formula for success, but my guess is that you'll see plenty of passes within the 10-15 yd range and some in the 20-30. Before we say that it's only a matter of time before safeties start cracking down on this, just remember that Brady built the second half of his career on the short pass. Peterman is no Brady, but Daboll spent some time in that offense and certainly picked up that trend. There are other ways to mix up playcalling to rely on the short pass game (i.e. screens, misdirections, running game, play action, or RPO, though I doubt they'll have Peterman run the latter).

I already explained that yes he can only run what Is called. But I also explained that most plays (around 70%) have someone stretching the field deep. Whether a 9 route or deep post... sure they aren’t the primary, and are used to stretch the defense BUT it’s always up to the QB to make the decision , especially if their open

I’m not knocking Peterman I’m stating facts. Josh Allen has gone deep More in 3 preseason games than Peterman in 7 preseason... who is he throwing it too deep? The same people

and Brady still tests people deep a few times a game... I’m not talking 65 yard bombs... I’m talking 30-40 yards downfield on a post or 9 route. A play a good NFL QB should make

and yes we have deep threats. Kelvin Benjamin is a legit deep threat. You don’t need 4.4 speed

He is 6’5 240... he is a nightmare 35 yards downfield. Bring in some extra blockers, go PA, and dial up a shot play

I answered that with regard to CFB.  In hoop I also don't really have a favorite but am thinking of going with the Globetrotters.  Do you know anything about this Washington Generals outfit they seem to play a lot?

The confit stage will cook the meat and render the fat out of the skin without overcooking or burning the skin.  You can also steam the wings to achieve the same effect but you do risk overcooking and you introduce moisture to the skin.

The second fry makes that cooked skin perfectly crispy.  I have not been able to achieve the same results with one fry.

I am very curious as to how the big spots in Buffalo manage to crank out the volume without sacrificing quality.

On hectic days like SB Sunday they will pre fry them for 5-7 minutes earlier ... and re fry them a second time when order is up

makes them crispier and less fry time

Not really concerned about him throwing 50 plus yards.  Brees and Brady barely air it out.  It is all about the mid range game and short game in the NFL.  He just needs to be smart and go through his progressions.

I don’t think I ever said 50+ yards ... and Brady and Brees in their prime were not afraid to air it out

you cannot live within 10-15 yards of the LOS in the NFL

    32 team playoffs

It's only 5 extra games but only for the elite teams and those kids will be pros anyway and if not it's more football for the kids. When I played I hated when the season was over and wished it was longer.

    Everybody wants to play longer

problem is they don’t have the time for 5 extra games. They can’t go deep into January/February

and they arent going to start August 1

Pro players get their bodies destroyed in 16 game seasons... most amateur college kids can’t play 16-17 healthy games

QB's rarely throw over 30 yards. That's why arm strength is overrated. It's all about timing and accuracy.

I would not say rarely and arm strength is not overrated

Kellen Moore would be a very good QB if he had better arm strength... he has all the timing and accuracy you want

Aaron Rodgers has used his arm strength to his advantage his whole career

A good QB throws 30+ yards downfield atleast a few times a game. I have yet to see Peterman do it in a live game yet

"if you want it bad enough and you work hard enough you can make it happen in America"

So, I'm 5'8" , 170 lbs, 60 yrs old.  If I work really really hard, can I play DT for the Bills?

When you were 18 you could’ve worked your butt off and played scat back or safety . Gotten a D1 offer and drafted to the league

    at 5’8 I’m sorry but I can’t see you being an effective 300+LBs ... especially at 60 ? jkjk

we need as much depth as possible

yeah, but everyone knows him as the guy that threw five picks in a half. historically bad. i'm sure he wants that taste out of his mouth. and i am also pretty sure that he will have to move mountains in order to silence some of his harsher critics. not to mention, there will be a large contingent of fans screaming for the rookie with every drive not resulting in a td. that is some serious pressure.

Casual NFL fans have no idea who Nathan Peterman is. He is playing with house money

no one expects anything great and we have a young kid waiting on deck... if he plays good it is a bonus for us because we can win games this year, give Allen some competition to win the job, and have some trade bait in the future

or we have a long term backup

It's the 'flip' I'm worried about - on the play in the clip I linked, I dunno if it counts as a whiff, but both DEs remained on their feet and bore down on Peterman....

....the good news is the ball was already gone.

The bad news is, if the WR had tripped or failed to gain separation, Peterman better chuck it OOB PTQ if he wants to finish the game

Found this highlight from camp of Peterman launching one

    https://www.buffalobills.com/video/camp-highlight-peterman-to-phillips-touchdown

I would say the RT semi whiffed and the LT did not do great because his man hurdles him

a clean cut at the LoS leaves the defender completely out of the play

Agreed.   I guess I was keying on "Most plays have someone going deep to stretch the field. Whether a 9 route or deep post ".

I agree that if they put in extra blockers and chip they can dial up a deep route, more thinking that the "most plays" deep guy isn't gonna see much action

Just watched a Cover1 analysis of a few Peterman plays in the Panthers game  and he pointed out something I have not been aware of  - reliance on cuts by our OT (it's at 9:40)

Cover1 points out the positives of this strategy and praises the scheming by Daboll, but of course the negative is if the QB does not get the ball out lickety-split or the play busts up downfield, chances are you now have two big, athletic DE who stayed on their feet and are coming for the QB like a pair of deranged bookends.   Tell me why I should agree with Cover1 that this is a Good Thing

Cut blocking with Tackles on pass protection has been used in the quick hitting passing game for a while

it can make the D end think twice about how fast he wants to shoot upfield, knowing now that he might eat the turf hard at fast pace

it also immediately takes a defender out of the play...

it can be used successfully on quick passing plays and back side screens and such...

on the flip... a whiff of a cut leaves your QB on a 1 way trip to the concussion tent...

on the positive... Dawkins and Mills are 2 maulers who are more physical players than finesse blockers

Dawkins excelled at cutting at Temple

Bill Belichick has used this technique over The years

We did see it on the 1st drive vs Carolina. I'm begging them to call a hitch and go on the very 1st play. You know the Ravens will be thinking INT early in this game.

What ball on the first drive traveled 30+ yards in the air? I don’t recall

    22 minutes ago, billsherd said:

I thought he threw one long ball to either Benjamin or one of our back up receivers in the 1st preseason game.

The ball traveled around 17 yards In the air on a Benjamin TD... doesn’t really qualify as a deep ball

    I tend to disagree.

When he came out (and no, I dont care what round he was drafted in) hehad a small amount of buzz around him. In his first chance like it or not, he became a national punchline. Any man with any self worth is going to strive to prove himself. Now, as I stated no, he's not likely to be a franchise QB for any team. But he can still be what I believe he would have become . A back up, spot starter. I could easily still see him (if he shows well this year) having a Todd Collins/Chase Daniel type career.

Yes, as I said the only person he has to prove anything to is himself

he can certainly become a capable backup but he can certainly fail... thats why I wouldn’t say IVE NEVER SEEN a player with that much to prove... he was projected as a backup, not a starter

he doesnt have that much pressure on him except the pressure he creates

  14. 9 minutes ago, No Place To Hyde said:

I've never seen him play a game from start to finish.

I've never seen him win a game as the starting QB that didn't involve what an insurence agency would classify an "Act of God".

I've never seen him quit either.

I've never seen him make excuses.

I've never seen him work harder than he did this off-season to improve.

I've never seen a player with so much to prove.

While I don't expect Nate to look like Rodgers 2.0 I am hopeful that the work he put in during the off-season and the addition of Brian Daboll can show he is at the very least a servicible spot starter in the NFL.

He doesn’t have that much to prove. He is a 5th round QB who is keeping the seat warm for a first round pick

Nobody expected him to be anything other than MAYBE a backup... except  saviorpeterman ... he should only be trying to prove to himself he can play.. not care about anyone else

Do you think our OL can hold long enough to let a WR get deep?

That depends hapless... do I think we can go 3-4 wide with only 5 lineman and dial up a deep play? No

Do I think Daboll can go singleback or I form, keep in some extra blockers and dial up a PA shot play? Yes

Correct.  Also in the eyes of the law, there was technically no murder.

He was originally charged with murder, along with his two buddies, but Lewis "flipped" and testified as state's witness.

Both men were acquitted on grounds of "self defense", meaning as I understand it " In the eyes of the court, no murder took place. "

    That would be correct
