This would be a nightmare. Two head cases in Rosen and Beckham with no depth on our OL, DL, or LB corps. I would hate this. Thankfully it won't happen.
Oh and both are major injury risks. I've been trying to think of a worse scenario than trading up for Josh Allen, and Eric Galko just found it.

fairly miserable place to live during a regular year..... let alone one with 193 inches of snow. haha.
I make it a point to get off at Peach St any time I'm heading west. Worth it for the Krispy Kreme alone.

If they were going to draft him they would have kept Tyrod for him to learn behind. IMO there is no way we draft him.
Mayfield and Rosen are the two QBs that will probably start right away. They don't need a bridge QB. Which is why I've thought since we traded Tyrod that they're our targets. McDermott loves players that have a lot of college starting experience and can get on the field right away.

His Analytics are generational. It surprised me. I still believe Rosen will be the elite prize for Buffalo, but based off of analytics (which the Bills subscribe heavily to), there’s no QB in this draft that’s on his level. The analytics have vastly improved from the wonderlic tests. They’re pretty insightful.

This part is pretty interesting:
Why are you hearing about the AIQ now? One of the two teams that subscribes fully to the testing service already has its franchise quarterback.
The other team is not a perennial winner, picks in the top half of the first round this year and is one of the handful of teams most interested in drafting Baker MayfieldI know I shouldn't jump to conclusions but the Bills have invested a lot into analytics and the bolded part could easily be talking about them...

Few are more plugged in to Buffalo, than J-White. He’s usually very closely tied. He has some great, great sources. I believe there’s smoke here. I don’t think Baker is their top guy, but I do believe he’s an incredible #2 or fallback option.
Baker has been my #1 all along. His attitude problems aren't like Rosen's. His problem is he cares too much about winning and his emotions get the best of him. I'll take that any day over someone that might not even like playing. I think he fits our team and city better than anyone. I bet he would get along very well with McDermott. And we can get him without paying a huge ransom. What am I missing? His height? That's the only real knock I see on him.

FWIW he says this isn't a smokescreen because his source isn't directly associated with the Bills.

I was waiting for the "insider source" connecting us to Mayfield. We have now officially been connected with every one of the top 4 QBs. I still have a hunch that we secretly love Mayfield but this report from Jeremy White doesn't make that more likely.
-
I get why they created the rule, but it really came out of nowhere and it changes the game more than they might realize. I'm sure the Shazier injury had a lot to do with this. That was a nightmare for the league and there's enough bad press about concussions.

Man I would trade up to #1 overall for Rosen's talent alone, whatever it takes. But I just don't know if he would be good in Buffalo. I feel like he's the kind of guy that will have a long career if drafted by the Giants or Jets but would get ruined in Buffalo or Cleveland. That's my big concern with him.
I would trade up to 5 or below for Mayfield. I wouldn't trade up for anyone else and my personal preference is take Jackson at 12. Nothing in the OP changes my mind about that. Thanks for putting this together bandit.

When people keep upping the standards of what a hit is they are also decreasing the hits in other parts of the draft. I think we are down to 3 draft hits outside of the first round, Brady, Brees and Wilson. So is it crazy to trade the farm for a 33% chance when the alternative is a 3% chance.
Well because the standards actually do change. Case in point would you rather spend multiple 1st and 2nd round picks in a big trade up for Cam Newton, or spend one 3rd round pick on Russell Wilson? It's a no-brainer. It's not just about how much more likely a top pick is to succeed, you have to factor in the cost of getting there. This is such a QB heavy draft it will be a shock if someone outside the top 10 doesn't turn into a franchise QB. If the Bills think they can identify that guy that's the best opportunity we have for long term success.

Adding Suh and Beckham in one offseason while getting rid of all their draft picks and maxing out their cap space. What could possibly go wrong?
If they actually pull this trade off I'm taking the under on whatever their win total is.

I hope Peterman has been working on his arm strength. That's the one thing that could save his career.

I'm just looking at their division: Niners are a trendy pick but who really knows about them, Cards are going to be garbage I think, Seattle same...Rams are going to walk through the NFCW easily imo.
That's definitely fair. I don't see them being dominant like everyone thinks but they won't be terrible.

Las Vegas does not agree with you.
I definitely wouldn't bet money on my hunch. But I swear every time a team tries to go all in on one year it blows up spectacularly. There's something to be said for building a team, as opposed to assembling talent. Doug Whaley vs Brandon Beane, basically.
-
I have a hunch I can't shake that the Rams will be terrible this year. Just seems like one of those things that's bound to happen.

Do you know how they measure this? Actual throws to receivers running routes or just throwing through a speed tracker? If you watch his tape you'll see he absolutely rifles the ball into receivers hands.
Yeah I don't think arm strength is a concern with him. If he fails it will be because he doesn't fix his inconsistent mechanics or because he doesn't learn to slide at the right time. He is nothing like Tyrod. He always looks to throw first before he runs and throws with better anticipation. Which team wants to take his unique skill set and build an offense around it is the question. I don't think he's a McBeane QB at all.
-
Being able to escape the pocket is a positive. Being fast and able to elude defenders is a positive. The way people around here talk about it you'd think these are disadvantages. It's not enough for an NFL QB but it is a plus. I'd rather have that than another Bradford type which is what scares me about Rosen.

So Les Snead is betting everything on 2018 and 2019. After that they won't be able to pay anyone. Good luck with that, I guess.

This is why I don't expect any kind of trade up until draft night. Even if we have something tentatively set up with the Giants they won't know until the Browns pick if they want to move down.

I’m not surprised to see Mayfield where he is, in fact, it’s exactly what I expect.
If this is truly where teams value him we could get our franchise QB by giving up nothing more than pick 65 or 96. IMO that's way better than giving up multiple 1sts and 2nds for Rosen. Sign me up for this.

If you like him you don't wait for him at 22. You trade up to 16. Remember when Buddy Nix and Doug Whaley traded DOWN for a QB? That was as dumb as it gets and betrayed how they really felt about Manuel. If you dont like a QB enough to trade up for him you shouldn't be drafting him in the first place.

If two inside sources suddenly gave that information to him tonight, it is probably false.

Baker Mayfield

We have the right OC to make this happen. Daboll will build an offense that works around his height. It's crazy that people would dismiss an amazing QB prospect over something so small (pun intended). It has to be the most predictable outcome in NFL history that Mayfield will have a better career than Allen, but Allen will almost certainly be drafted first solely because of his physical traits.
