1. Yeah, that last part would be nice but if it was going to happen, it should have happened a couple decades ago (at least).  Buffalo is full of people who will vote Democrat 100% of the time without ever wondering why the city (and region) is in a downward spiral.  Maybe we're just a few more unions and a few more tax increases away from that economic boom......

Buffalo's number one export is people.  And that's because there's no reason why anyone on the outside would ever want to invest in the region given all the other places they could invest their money.

My mother almost cried when I told her I was a Republican. Then I asked her how she felt on some of the basic conservative values. When I got her answers I said, "Mom, guess what, you're a Repbulican too."

  2. Why are some folks so concerned with whether the guy on the street in France or Jordan likes us? News Flash! They have NEVER liked us. We've given them something real visible to B word about.

    76508

That is so true. We were in France in the spring of 2001. Spent some time with a guy who we were importing some things from. Took us out to lunch and in typical French fashion we proceeded to down three bottles of wine......at LUNCH! Well needless to say tongues loosened up. Yes BiB, they didn't like us before 9/11, they liked us for about 24 minutes after 9/11 and went back to not liking us thereafter. Has NOTHING to do with who is President. They don't understand us, and don't care to. This Iraq war just gives them a tangible reason not to like us.

  3. Allow me to take the middle ground here.

I did see Roger and Me. It was great, and should serve as a reminder to all just how bad a company will screw it's workers and even an entire city in some instances (No, not ALL companies).

Now, he is nothing but a limosine liberal and an elitist.

He spoke at the college that my daughter attends and took questions after the speech. He ignored all questions from conservative. students. My daughter asked him a question. His answer was "Next."

Because her school is in New Hampshire, she has spoken to numerous candidates, including Edwards and Dean on many occasions. She claimed that they were corteous and respectful.

Moore otoh, is a rude pig who runs when cornered, just like "Roger" did.

Just curious Bill, what question did your daughter ask?

  4. Oh and by the way on this board I personally have been attacked numerous times for things I didn't recall saying.  People spend hours going thru the archives looking to trip me up (that is SO flattering).  If I, a mere citizen, am so accountable then surely the Emporer must be held to as high, if not higher, a standard.

    72282

Please, don't flatter yourself. I highly doubt people search the archives to find things you've said. Some of it is so off the wall it's very easy to remember without going through the trouble looking for it.

  5. That you don't see anything wrong with judging and condemning people based on their appearance surprises me not at all.

    72288

Where did I say I didn't see anything wrong with that. You have a wonderful ability to read peoples minds.......unfortunately you're often times wrong, which makes you look pretty silly. The trait of an angry person. The point, and the ONLY point of my post that you quoted.

  6. vast, vast, vast majority of scientists, doctors and researchers that actually do the work and are in the field think that the government should fund stem cell research and that Bush's policy prevents it.

    72087

And I really, really, really feel that the government should fund my mortgage payment research.

Maybe they feel that way because the government hands out money like I hand out candy on Halloween.

  7. This may be a weird angle, but why do people feel we have the right to live forever. If we cure every disease and everyone would live to be 120 and older just imagine what that would do to this already overpopulated planet. You think we have problems with Social Security now, imagine if people were retired for 50 years! Disease and dying, unfortunately, are a fact of life.

  8. I put on a few pounds myself after my son died.

I would imagine that if you scratch the men on this board who are overweight, underweight, balding or just plain plug-ugly there would only be 2-3 left.  Nevertheless it doesn't keep most of them from standing in judgement on someone based on appearances.

Angry, angry, angry. For your sake I truely hope Kerry wins. If not, I want the Prozac concession in the Pacific Northwest.

  9. Oh boy, the hatred that spews forth from some of you on the right is just downright comical  !  Bush is on his way out, and the truth hurts dsoesn't it?

It must be killing you guys to know that Bush is falling flat on his face.  Flame me all you want children, I'll be laughing at YOU on November 3rd.  Gotta run, have a nice day!

    67770

Actually the hatred spews from both sides. It's like watching a tennis match in hell.

  10. Well, then I guess you're disgusted by in-vitro fertilization. Until you're one of the many couples who needs to use it to conceive a child.

Sorry. That's the science. They take a lot of eggs, they take the sperm, mix it together and many embryos are formed. The doctor selects several that appear the most viable and implants them. A lot of the embryos are not viable, a lot of them are really weird-looking. They freeze or destroy the rest.

It's the body human. Double U, Tee, Eff?

    67704

Thanks for the science lesson Mr. Wizard. And yes I am disgusted with in-vitro. Choosing one life over another in my opinion is not right. So they can't have children, maybe it wasn't meant to be. With all the children in this country that would give anything to be adopted into a loving family there should be no reason to have to do this. My wife had a boss who did this and 5 children, yes children, were conceived but they kept only two. The others, if they had been given a chance could have grown up to be President some day.

  11. Christopher Reeves was mentioned by John Kerry last week during debate #2 which of course you well-informed and open minded gentleman watched and dissected.

If everyone followed your logic and Bush's logic we'd be thinking horsedrawn carriages were riske'.

Conservatives are such frightened little people. Change is natural and can be good.  And if there were no explorers or people willing to push the envelope where would we all be?

Probably living in the shadows, afraid.  LIke in The Dark Ages.

A great Conservative Era come to think of it.  Imagine how people like you would have freaked out over the Renaissance.

    67620

So how did you feel about Bush's plan for Mars? Or did that suck because he mentioned it?
