Only reason I'd worry about Hillary is because foreign policy under Bill's administration was nothing more than one long collossal blunder. I can't see any reason that would be different under Hillary.
Plus...if she gets elected, that would mean from '88 on the presidents would have been:Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush, and then Clinton. Twenty four years entrusted in two clans...that's nauseating.
If Hillary were elected and was re-elected then Jeb was elected to two terms it would be: Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush. That's half a life time devoted to two families running this place. That's not nauseating, that's just damn scary.

I’ll agree with the premise of the thread title, and I do believe that.
But my waitress kept bringing me the wrong orders. First she brought a Caesars salad, when I asked for a Chef salad. Then she brought a me Shrimp Cocktail when I ordered Steak tar tar. Then she brought a Filet, instead of the Lobster tail I ordered.
Then to top it off, she brought me Jell-O, instead of the Chocolate cake I ordered.
I think I’d have a hard time having a couple of Pops with her after that. But that’s just me.
Just funnin Jim, I see your point. I hope you see mine.
And of course she blamed the kitchen the whole time. That's why we keep our knives sharp. Nice clean cut. If anyone wants to know what really goes on in a professional kitchen, read Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. Be warned though, you may never dine out again.

I guess in my case it is from all those years cooking professionally for people. At that time my number one goal was only to make people happy regardless of who or what they were. Everyone becomes someone you care for and will litteraly bleed, sweat and cry for. I have cooked for some people in my time that really upset me, but I never did anything to their food other than to make it look and taste better than anything they ever had.
If the world were more like a restaurant on a busy Saturday night............ many times I told a server to fu** off, and get the fu** out of my kitchen at 8:00pm and we were buying each other drinks and laughing about the whole incident at 10:00pm.

Thanks for the support, however I'm not being too kind, it's just my nature. I cannot, and will not completely judge someone until I meet them.
-
Wow, very nice. And you know how well?? I would never ever completely judge anyone without meeting them face to face and actually talking with them and getting to know them. And even after a reply like that I would still reserve complete judgement on you until I had the chance to meet you and talk. As of right now I feel I barely know you.

Would you please point out to me where I said ANY OF THAT in my post?!
Unlike you, I do not PRESUME. Certainly I believe that husbands and wives talk. But as an outsider who doesn't know EITHER person or the dynamics of their relationship outside what they feed to the public through the press, making a decision based on a spouse would be a very shallow judgement indeed.
If that's part of your judgement process, that's you, not me.
It sure is easy to torque your wingnut.
And if you don't ever consider the candidate's spouse, maybe you should. If memory serves me correctly didn't one come close to drafting a government policy on healthcare that was a disaster?
And I do believe calling a spouse of a candidate superficial is pretty much the same as saying their opinions are not influential?
-
As I woman I can honestly say I NEVER consider a candidate's spouse. Never. It's immaterial and a non-issue. It's a judgement based on superficialities, no different than judging by the candidate's hair color, cut or suit or personal mannerisms.
I don't adore Mrs. Bush and I don't hate her. I never think of her just like I never thought of Pat Nixon, Lady Bird Johnson, Nancy Reagan, Roslyn Carter, Barbara Bush, Hillary, etc.
I likewise don't adore either Karen Hughes or Condi Rice. They are both smart women, no doubt about it, but I wouldn't want to be like either one of them.
And by the you'd find that anyone who ever met me, and quite a few who haven't, consider me to be a VERY strong woman. So I guess I am in a better position to judge than some.
Do you really think that any first lady has no say in a President's decision making process. Most husbands, me included, trust our wives opinion enough to ask what they think of certain things. You must have a pretty low opinion of woman if you think that none of the First Ladies are capable of an influential opinion.

Besides, in the first decade of there being no estate tax, tax revenues would be about $4 Trillion dollars less. Given the already stultifying deficits we have, how in the world would we make up for the loss of $4 Trillion dollars of revenues? Any thought that you could some how cut that much money from the already mired in deficit budget is delusional. I am not sure that this is the kind of wild tax scheme we need to indulge inorder to come to the rescue of besieged multi-millionaires.
By eliminating the step up in basis. That will effect everyone, not just heirs of multi-millionaires. And with the run up in real estate values over that past several years this could be a huge windfall for the government.
