1. Thanks again Bill.

What is your definition of "is" Mr. Clinton?

You righties are so funny sometimes. Pot, kettle, and all that.

Never once in that speech did Bush say mission accomplished. On the contrary he stated there was a lot of work yet to do. The administration said they had nothing to do with the sign. If they did it was stupid, however you have no proof they did.

Say Bush makes a speech at a restaurant that has a sign over his head that states "All Meals Free on Fridays" would you say that Bush said the restaurant was giving away free meals on Friday?

  2. Here you go

So sorry. It was a big huge sign. Isn't that great?

This has been argued over and over. I asked when did Bush utter those words. You show me a sign. Unless he barfed up those words on to the sign or ordered that sign written they are not his words. Did he order that sign written? I don't know and neither do you. So there is no sense in arguing an unprovable point.

  3. I like it alot.  I have seen the first two parts.  There are 5 parts in all.  Very detailed and well researched.  I like his baseball series too though.  I thought his History of Jazz documentarys were awesome!

That would be awesome. However don't know if I could swing a trip from CA for that. If you folks do something like that could somone film it? I would love to see that. I have tons of battlefield books and plan to spend good chunks of my retirement wandering those fields.

  4. I see a great deal of history appreciation here.

A friend of mine is getting ready to publish a Civil War book on the history of the West Point class of 1862. Tremendously well researched and there are some really fascinating stories there. He graduated West Point himself (Retired Colonel) and is often asked to conduct seminars and such. The story is told primarily through the eyes of a central 19 year old cadet (who's room mate was GA Custer) and it deals very nicely with the politics of the time, what life was actually like at the academy in those days, and very detailed and scholarly descriptions of the battles they participated in. Goes into their later life experiences, for those who survived. He's located many rare period pictures to accompany the story.

When it comes out, if anyone is interested, I will get some autographed copies.

Count me in. I'm a big collector of books and search and pay alot for first editions and autographed copies. Keep me posted.

  5. That's the first thing I had to eat in Paris. Would love to try yours.

If I had to pinpoint the foods I make the best it would be the long braises that the French make so well such as cassoulet, coq au vin, beef bourgignonne, blanquette de veau and my favorite choucroute. Fall and winter is my favorite time to cook and eat!!

  6. Cassoulet would be excellent. You have the little cast iron roasters? Olivier was going to get me some, but we never got around to it.

    104584

I have one, but only holds enough for about 2 people. To get your lips smacking for my cassoulet, when I worked at one of the top French restaurants in LA the Times food critic, Ruth Reichel, who is now the editor for Gourmet, used to come in and order two. One to eat there and the other to take home. But I'm open to suggestions...I can pretty much make anything.

  7. I had potato onion with my pork loin last night.

And galupkies rule. Ever use red cabbage? Makes them a little crispier.

Maybe we should set up a pierogi exchange? Our politics may differ, we may fight, argue and call each other names, but no one should be deprived of pierogi.

I really wish we all lived closer together. I'd have you all over and I would cook a wonderful meal. Left, right, liberal, conservative. A great gourmet meal, excellent wine would help bring us all together. Everyone put down their favorite dish and we can vote on it. Mine...due to the chilly weather that is upon us would be cassoulet with bottle of Burgundy. For dessert, my famous tart tatin. MMMMMMMMM food!!

  8. <sigh>  You have to be able to define it before you can figure out how to get there.

You may as well ask: Can we pfthileromnie the war on terrorism?  Well...what's pfthileromnie?  I don't know...but can we pfthileromnie the war?

    102692

I'm not sure about the war, but I sure pfthileromnied my wife last night. :D

  9. I'm sure congressmen in the halls of congress are using profanities about GWB behind closed doors...a !@#$ Bush sign is harmless..who does it hurt..i here students say !@#$ you every in the hall of my schools

Since when did we hand out teaching credentials to people that cannot spell? Listen folks, this, by far, will do more harm to this country than four more years of Bush.

  10. link

Oh I'm sure they ALL do it.  Like those 80,000 people who turned out to see Kerry and Springsteen today...I'm sure it was really only 79,599 and the rest were Kerry staffers and their families, not REAL voters...

    90571

No, it was probably more like 79,950 there to see Springsteen there rest there to see Kerry. ;)

  11. We want reality, whether it is pleasant, optimistic or frightening.  By the way, you still haven't answered my question, how many Americans were killed by Saddam Hussein between 9/11 and our invasion of Iraq?  It is a simple question isn't it?

    78665

I'll say zero Alex. So we wait until he does. How many Americans did Hitler kill prior to our entering WWII?

  12. Have you ever gone to his website to read his plan?

And can you explain exactly what GB's plan is?

    77809

Just did that, what a load of crap. I was as if it were written by the local senior running for class president. Plans, plans, plans. No real plan on how to pay for it. Oh yeah, by increasing taxes on the rich. Well I've got news for him, the rich are best equiped to offset those increases through hiring good CPAs and planners to offset those increases through deductions, deferrals and investing in plans where the income in not taxed at all. Why do you think Theresa paid only 12.5% in taxes. Good luck Johnny boy.
