  1. Mike Evans. (3rd in yards)

Julio Jones had 153 more yards on 27 more receptions. (1st in yards)

DeAndre Hopkins had 48 more yards on 29 more receptions. (2nd in yards)

Both had better QBs than Evans...and both had the same QB all year.

Evans had more 20+ yard catches (2nd behind Tyreek Hill), his long of 72 yards was longer than both of theirs, and he averaged more YPC than anyone with 45+ catches.

I'll take Mike Evans, he's the best WR in the game right now...no WR did more with less at QB.

(Jones had 11 TDs, Hopkins and Evans each had 8 TDs.)

While I don't agree with the rankings, this article has some great video and written analysis  of potential  first round prospects next year .

Thankfully  next year's draft is loaded with solid WR and DE.

Unfortunately  we will have to wait until the last pick in the first round  to see the new Buffalo  Bill  but I thought I'd post anyways for those that enjoy the process .

Jerry Jeudy, Tee Higgins, Ceedee Lamb or Laviska Shenault...I hope Beane has his trading hat on come the 2020 draft, he has to get one of those WRs.

This WR class is being compared to the 2014 class...
    https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/the-2020-wr-class-could-truly-be-historic

We won't get Jeudy...so I'd hope for Higgins or Lamb, which would give us a true #1 WR, allowing our other WRs to be in positions better suited for them.

    Higgins/Lamb

    Brown

    Beasley

    Foster

    Jones

(And one of Williams/McCloud/McKenzie/Sills/Easley...whomever produces this season.)

That would be a hell of a WR corps for 2020.

So for confidential purposes I will not say the name of my source or place of employment but trust me when I say it is well founded. With that said in conversation today I learned that training camp may be shorter then last year and the possibility is true that the team in a few years may pack up back to Buffalo.

This falls directly in line with what I have heard that the Bills preseason schedule itself would force less training camp days given when there games are this pre season. Last year the number of practices in Rochester fell to 11 total down from 13 in 2017 with only one night practice in 2018 compared to three in 2017. Both years McD has done camp the number of practices and night practices have been far less then in years prior. Rex Ryan's last year had 16 practices including 5 night practices. While the team has said they have no plans to leave, I believe realistically that it will end in the next 5 years with the Bills just doing a 2-3 day joint practice or something like that. My one compliant since Russ Brandon has left is the fact the Bills have backed off Rochester with events the way they use to and it does make us nervous that camp will go given how it already has been condensed.

That said as a Rochester resident training camp is an incredibly exciting time for us and great primer for the regular season. Plus it is cool being out in the area and seeing the Bills players and coaching staff. If you ever are up in Rochester during camp go to Thirstys in the town of Pittsford. The players, coaches, and administration tend to go there. A few years ago Whaley and I believe Rob Ryan came in there. Usually it is a little later at night.

Going to piss off a lot of Rochester fans, and lose the young fans who become Bills fans because of training camp in Rochester.

It's typical Bills that they would screw a large portion of their fans from the Rochester, Finger Lakes and Syracuse region.

  4. I just came across these and figured I would post them here...some are cool, some are downright awful (like the Bills).

I like the Broncos second design, the Bucs first design, the Chargers second design, both Lions designs, both Giants designs, the first Panthers design, the first Raiders design, the first first Saints design, the first Steelers design...and the third designs are pretty cool, but I think they're just a little bit too bold.

    What are your thoughts?

I like McDermott...but I really wish we had a young wunderkind offensive coordinator (or HC), not someone who wants to run the ball 50 times a game.

  6. This happens every single year.

Just a couple examples but even after our large FA haul , not many ppl beyond the fan base were taking this team serious. Especially since the draft , it seems some national reporters have done some research about this team , including recognizing McBeane as a potential great Hc/Gm combo. I don't mind being under the radar but glad that they're slowly getting the respect they deserve.

It's playoffs or bust for me. I think Allen is that good and the OL specifically will go such a long way in this team being successful

And what respect do they deserve? They haven't accomplished anything yet.

They will get respect and be taken seriously when they start consistently winning.

Winning the offseason and the draft means nothing if it doesn't translate to the football field...we've been here so many times before, and it never worked.

  7. The offensive linemen and tight ends we signed and drafted are built for the run-game.

We drafted a TE who never caught a TD pass, the other one is known for his blocking...and Kroft is a run-blocking TE, who had 36 yards receiving last year.

Plus we signed a former OT who is transitioning to TE.

We didn't draft a WR, but we drafted a RB and signed two more.

This team is building to run the ball A LOT...not for the pass-game.

Any passing attack we have will be bombs or 5-yard dink-and-dunks.

It's a decent first draft of the roster. Mine only differs in 5 ways:

    1. No need for Anderson as the third QB. Add Stanford as a backup MLB.

    2. No need for 4 TE's. Cut Fisher and add Waddle as a ninth OL.

    3. Replace Yeldon with Perry.

    4. Replace Croom with Sweeney.

    5. Replace Yarbrough with Darryl Johnson.

Senorise Perry over TJ Yeldon? Lol, no thanks.

Stanford was awful, Joseph can take his spot.

Croom is the best receiving TE on this roster, and the only one with real speed...cutting him is an awful idea.

EDIT:If Tyree Jackson gets cut, you're not sneaking him onto the practice squad...some team will take that kid and stash him on their roster.

42 on the Wonderlic and he still has wheels.  TE is already overfilled right now.  Edge is what we really need

I don't believe Ben Watson is the guy we need...but we definitely need a TE.

We don't have one legitimate, proven TE on this roster that ANY defense would be worried about covering. Tyler Kroft, Jake Fisher, Jason Croom, Dawson Knox, and Tommy Sweeney? Nobody besides Bills fans even know who they are. The five of them have a combined 91 receptions for 963 yards.

Weren't Kliff Kingsbury's defenses at TT really bad?  I know the offenses he had at TT were really good, but he had limited success, so that kind of implies that the defense was really bad.  I don't know.  But either way, he transferred to a D2 school after not starting at TT.  If he was having issues at TT and transferred to West Alabama in order to start, I would be surprised to see him succeed in the NFL.  I really don't know much about him or his reasons for transferring, so if I'm off basis feel free to correct me

I honestly don't know anything about this kid...but, NFL players come from everywhere, I wouldn't discredit him or count him out because he transferred to West Alabama.

Malcolm Butler went to West Alabama...so did Tyreek Hill, Deon Lacey, Seth Roberts and Dee Virgin.

After missing out on Ziggy Ansah, it’s time to look forward to the next wave of cuts coming.  June 1 is a big day in a lot of contracts and takes off some of the dead cap that teams have to carry in the case of cutting a player, so I looked at some teams tight against the cap and some players they would save a lot of money by cutting and compiled a list.

NOTE: I’m not saying every name on this list is going to get cut, I understand it would take some crazy scenarios for a couple of these players to get cut, but this is just a list of players that won’t weigh heavy to cut on a team that’s up against the salary cap.  I’m also not saying the Bills would be interest in everyone, or anyone, on the list.  Just some names to keep our eyes on as June 1 and training camp approach closer.

I may have missed a few but from glancing through spotrac these are the names that popped out too me.

Paranthesis are roughly (team savings by cutting player/teams cap space)

DE, Everson Griffin - Vikings ($7.5M/-$17M)

DT, Gerald McCoy - Buccaneers ($13M/-$13M)

OLB, Lavonte David - Buccaneers ($10M/-$13M)

WR, Mohammed Sanu - Falcons ($6M/-$14M)

CB, Joe Haden - Steelers ($10M/-$14M)

DE, Dante Fowler Jr. - Rams ($12M/-$6M)

CB, Aqib Talib - Rams ($8M/-$6M)

DE, Mike Daniels - Packers ($8M/-$10M)

CB, Tramon Williams - Packers ($4M/-$6M)

DE, Mario Addison - Panthers ($8M/-$5.5M)

CB, Chris Harris - Broncos ($8M/-$6M)

DE, Derek Wolfe - Broncos ($8M/-$6M)

    DE/OLB, Ryan Kerrigan - Redskins ($10M/-$3M)

TE, Vernon Davis - Redskins ($5M/-$3M)

DE, Calais Campbell - Jaguars ($12M/-$5M)

    OLB, Sean Lee - Cowboys ($6M, -$250k)

    DT, Tyrone Crawford - Cowboys ($7M, -$250k)

    DT, Xavier Williams - Chiefs ($3M, -$2M)

    RT, Marcus Gilbert - Cardinals ($5M, $500k)

DE, Chris Long - Eagles ($5M/$4.5M)

If any of the above were to get cut, there’s quite a few players that I think would be worth taking a flier on for the  Bills.  Namely being Everson Griffin, Mario Addison, Ryan Kerrigan, Calais Campbell, Mohammed Sanu, Aqib Talib, Joe Haden and Chris Harris.

Chris Harris is really someone to keep your eyes on with the reports of wanting a trade if not restructured.

Lavonte David or Sean Lee would be awesome additions to this defense...I'd prefer David, but Lee would  be solid too.

That would allow McDermott and Frazier to use Lorenzo Alexander in a variety of ways, and give them three LBs that are good in coverage too.

David/Lee - Edmunds - Milano would be a top-5 LB unit in the NFL.

And I might prefer Alexander at DE over anyone not named Jerry Hughes, especially on passing downs (where I'd prefer a better coverage LB).

Other than that, I'd take Sanu or Davis...we still need a big (proven) WR and a #1 TE.

I’ve always respected Reed’s play but after hearing his thoughts and mindset my respect for him period is immense. Great interview, talks about working with Jaquan Johnson (4:20 mark) and what he believes is a steal for the Bills. He continues after with some very revealing comments and insights on his time in Buffalo. Although he never mentioned Rex Ryan by name I got the impression that he wasn’t too thrilled with Ryan & Co. matter of fact you can tell he felt disrespected.

Bills Mobile: Ed Reed: "Ultimately, in a team sport, it takes a team"
    https://www.buffalobills.com/audio/ed-reed-ultimately-in-a-team-sport-it-takes-a-team

I also want to mention that after looking at the current roster, especially the OL position, there is finally some great competition going on for a roster spot. Seeing how many FA OL Beane accumulated and the draft was more of a defensive draft, do you think that Beane could trade 1 or 2 of our OL? I’d hate to see them just outright waive some of these players and receive no compensation for them because they are under contract to us.

One last thing, everyone knows that whenever a new player comes in that there’s a “great debate” whether bleau cheese or ranch for the chicken wings. Everyone knows that the right answer is bleau cheese and the thought occurred to me that Blue Cheese would be kind of a cool nickname for the Bills or for the secondary because nothing covers better.

None of those guys are worth anything in a trade, besides Morse, Dawkins and Ford.

PS. I think it's "bleu" cheese...I'm not sure though, because I hate it! ?

  13. I hate when I'm wrong...but it looks like this kid is going to be an absolute stud.

And I'm just as jealous about the weapons the kid has...Beckham, Landry, Callaway, Higgins, Njoku, Chubb, Johnson, and Hunt.

Mayfield is 24, Beckham and Landry are 26, Callaway is 22, Higgins is 24, Njoku is 22, Chubb is 23, Johnson is 25, and Hunt is 23.

That is so much talent, and they're all young enough that they can grow together...that is going to be a very dangerous team, given they have the right head coach.

(Not to mention their defense with...Garrett, Ward, Ogunjobi, Kirksey, Avery, Schobert, Randall, Vernon, Richardson, and now Greedy Williams and Mack Wilson.)
