Man...you had me with the first sentence.  Then wow, you just lost me with the 2nd.  Its utterly crazy how many people can not seem to grasp the logic in why AJE didnt dress week 1.

    1. Hughes and Murphy, ONLY DE's on the team with experience in our system.
    2. Murphy reportedly had a very strong camp, and combined with having 2 years in our system gave him the lead on starting.
    3. Addison, a perennial double sack player, was literally our 3rd DE.  So that means AJE would have had to beat out Addison, which was never going to happen going into week 1.
    4. Daryl is a ST ace, and him as the 4th spot was never up for grabs because of his significant importance to ST.
    5. Jefferson is really a DE helping at DT with Star opting out and Butler out week 1.  So he is someone can easily swing over to DE if injuries happened to our top 3 guys.
    6. COVID had no preseason nor very little contact reps in camp for rookies to get up to speed and earn a bigger role.  And DE has a log jam, so AJE is a luxury, not a player at a position of need.
    7. McD loves bringing rookies around slow when possible.
    8. We open the first 2 weeks with important divisional games, in a season where we have a real shot to contend and our schedule gets toughest down the stretch.  Meaning these are important for us to win, so those most ready to play will get priority, which lends itself to vets and returning players over rookies.  Same reason Murphy started over Addison even though Addison is the more accomplished and better all around player.
    9. AJE was a luxury pick at our deepest position that was chosen for the future, not to be an immediate contributor.

Why are so many people completely deaf to these facts.  They are not excuses, this is reality.  Is it common for a 2nd round pick to not dress week 1 when injuries were not a factor?  No...but its also not common to have no preseason, very little contact, etc in camp.  Its also not common that 2nd round picks come into a team positioning for a SB run while playing a position on a team that is as deep as the Bills DE rotation.

The AJE not dressing week one is literally a non story in terms of the arc of his career.  It was actually not surprising at all to me.

Love the excuses for why a 2nd round pick couldn't make the field, as if he's an UDFA.

A 7th rounder with a full year of practicing with the team and playing some right? And omg did the MEDIA really say that? Well yeah his career is doomed. We should probably cut him now and save Beane the embarrassment of you being smarter 😂😂😂

Yup, because that's exactly what I said...isn't it, idiot?

He hasn’t even played a snap yet 😂😂😂

Crazy a 2nd rounder couldn’t even see the field immediately on this D line.

Yeah, it is...given Darryl Johnson, a 7th rounder, made the active roster ahead of him.

Anybody who says they're not concerned with our top pick being benched is kidding themselves.

The media has even said he did absolutely nothing in training camp, except one rep where the guard and tackle tripped over eachother.

Interesting - Tre was on his Rookie deal this season.  Next season, the option kicked in.  By signing, he get a huge increase this year (when we had more cap space) and continues to get top-CB $$$ for the rest of the term.

Next up: Josh Allen and Edmunds.  Would love to keep Milano, but thats probably not happening.

Hard to argue with anything McBeane (in this case, its Beane) does - whoever we lose due to cap, they will figure out how to re-stock the shelves!

Tremaine Edmunds is as important to this team as anyone else...he needs to be kept at all costs.

Allen, Diggs, Edmunds, White...those are your four cornerstones that you cannot lose. (Well, I *hope* Allen gets there, the other 3 are elite.)

The 49ers have significant talent on both sides of ball as evidenced by Superbowl run last year.  However,  I believe that they are being held back by a very limited QB in Jimmy Garoppolo who cannot make enough plays to overcome situations where game is close or there is not a huge talent differential.   This is certainly a very different situation from few seasons ago when lots of folks were ready to anoint Garoppolo as the next elite QB.

Thoughts on where the 49ers should be going with QB ?  You can only retain so much talent for so long and windows close quickly.

This is how I feel about the Bills. Is Allen the guy? We need to know by the end of this season.

(They don't have anywhere near the talent we have in the RB and WR room.)

All we heard around here last year was how 300 yard games were meaningless and usually only happen with bad teams who have to throw the ball in desperation to get back into a game, now it means eliteness because Allen finally did it.

The defence played great yesterday but was it because they were dominate or was it because the Jets offence was just bad, all everyone was talking about around here is how bad the Jets offensive weapons are around Darnold? had the jets been able to do anything with the ball, those 2 fumbles could have been huge to swing the game. Maybe some people aren't out planning the SB parade just yet because it was only one game against a bad team and there are still things the bills will need to work on if they want to be considered a true contender and not be 'one and done' in the playoffs again.

This team still seems to be similar to last year where they don't want to put a game away by driving up a score. They were up 21-3 at half time then were outscored 14-6 the rest of the game as it appeared they put the brakes on the offence. i don't know anyone that is truly pissed off about yesterday, but some aren't as excited and ready to declare the team being in elite status and a SB favorite just yet

And those kinds of calls are typical of just about any sports talk show outside of maybe a handful of teams where they are used to dominating (Like the Pats or Yankees/Redsox)

Count me among this group. I'm not the least bit "pissed off," but I'm not going to drink the kool-aid quite yet. It was a nice win though.

(I'm actually REALLY concerned about Edmunds' injury...if he's out long-term, this defense could suffer tremendously.)

I know some on the board still play Madden. I know my kids are into it. I'll also play against them every now and again. This made me have a good laugh though. An 81 overall for a QB who hasn't played in 4 years and is a 58% career passer? Josh is rated at 77 OVR on the game and is the lowest rated starting QB, but the 4 years dormant Kap is the better QB? The 81 OVR rating is the same as Ben Ro and better than 4 more other than Josh. With those being Tannehill, Mayfield, Carr, and Cam.

I'm sure someone else pointed it out, but his 81 overall rating is actually better than 17 of the 32 starting QB's. Lol.

And for those wondering, his last rating in 2016 was also an 81 overall.

  8. You love the Allen-Brown connection, but Beasley was Allen's security blanket.

There's zero chance he gets traded...this team doesn't need cap space and draft picks.

(And with the lack of talent and depth at TE, you don't trade Kroft either.)

  9. If things were how I thought they were, that you could protect four players all season without risking losing them, mine would be...

    Jake Fromm

    Isaiah Hodgins

    Darryl Johnson

Tyler Bass (If he wins the kicking competition, then I'd keep Dane Jackson in this spot.)

But there really is no "protecting" anybody, since they can be stolen away and signed by another team.

Why are they releasing him is the first question?

Same reason they released Spencer Long...he's not very good.

Rather move Cody Ford to RG, where he belongs.

I'd rather kick Ford inside.  Or Williams.  They're younger and potentially better.

I don't get this line of thinking with Williams...the guy was an All-Pro at RT, which was arguably our worst position on the team last year.

Darryl Williams should be the starting RT for this team if he's fully healthy.
