So the Rams obviously didn't give up two first round picks and Goff is obviously not EJ Manuel. So obviously the situations are nothing alike. Obviously. It's obvious the Rams went out and got a potential superstar pick for a second round pick and a throw away player. Their coach is offensive minded and he now has a young QB, stud wideout, stud running back. But hey let's pointing fingers at other organizations because obviously OBD knows best.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Brandon Beane Era Begins
CommonCents replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they are getting a QB then TT is gone. Shady will be toast by the time the young guys come together. Both of them are just going to hurt the draft pile. Just because you have extra picks doesn't mean you shouldn't maximize the return. Get them out of here and do it right. Otherwise they will waste all those picks for one big homerun swing on one of the QB's coming out. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Brandon Beane Era Begins

You mentioned them wanting a star QB and replacing what they currently have. Fans that are still blindly supporting this team and it's personnel decisions are missing one major point. IF they don't not move Shady or Tyrod this team can fall into 6-7 wins. Those 4-5 extra wins will waste so much if not all of the draft stock they have built up just to move up for the star QB. If they do have a plan and they are confident about executing their vision then they MUST trade more players away to better position themselves for the QB and the future. As it sits it's a half ass rebuild that will only prolong the losing. If it takes one terrible season and then we have a franshise altering draft I could get behind that, as would many others. -
My thoughts on today's trades...
CommonCents replied to gr8billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get that. I was just saying it's about the value you can expect from a player on a one year deal. Johnathan Cooper was the throw in on the other deal. I just think both teams were in different situations. The Pats sold high on a guy coming off 12.5 sacks and the Bills sold low on an injured Watkins. If the plan was to deal him they should played him the first half last night and let him go bananas. -
Haven't seen a ton of him TBH but from what I have read he is a tackler, I like corners that can tackle. He is shorter than an ideal zone CB and according to various scouting reports he is tight in the hips. Not the kind of guy I'd go home with but I'm sure he play CB in a pinch. From reading up on him he is another "good attitude" "proffesional" player, I have been begging for an attitude change in the locker room but I am concerned he is doing it in exchange for talent.

Tearing down the rest of it? Like TT or Shady are here for the long term? Shady will be to old by the time the draft picks are ready contribute assuming they use them all and hit on an even percentage come 18' As I said in another thread the difference between winning 3 games and 7 will give you about 10 draft slots per round and that's worth more than the trades you made today. So why not trade away TT and Shady who will push you closer to 7 wins? -
A RB with his contract, if they can move him for a third I'd have him on the next plane out of Buffalo. You said they are thinking 2018 and beyond, Shady equals more wins and that hurts your draft pile. 3-13 is a top 5 pick, say Shady and company get you to 7-9. That means you lose 10 slots in each 6 rounds of the draft. Those slots are worth more than the trades today. So in itself trading Shady for a 3rd would yield more draft capital than Watkins and Darby did.

Serious question: Is this the beginning of a tank?
CommonCents replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Left work an hour early and I'm tanking in honor of OBD. Two big steaks for the grill some tequila for the shot glass and corona to wash it down. When is draft night? -
So you and GG agree they should trade Shady and get some additional picks? They won't. That's why I'm pissed. It's another one foot in one foot out hokey !@#$ing pokey over there at OBD. Yeah big things, 3 slot WR's, resigning a running QB and ditching a guy that could thrive in the modern day NFL.

If that was their answer then the mistake that was made is cutting loose a prospect like Watkins and then drafting a QB high next year. Then you paired your stud QB and WR and scrapped your attempt at designing an offense for Taylor. Now once you realize it don't work you need a QB and an elite WR because the combination they currently have is not suited for a downfield passing attack.
