  1. For what it's worth, last year the Bills finished 11 - 6.  Currently the Bills are 10 - 3.  The Bills have been hit with several key injuries that have required reserve players to fill in as starters.  Yet we keep on winning.

The AFC East is arguably the best division in the NFL top to bottom.  The Bills will most likely win that division and secure the #1 or #2 seed in the AFC.

This is a team that deserves our support.

Why knit pick and worry about what might happen in the playoffs?

Take the example of our players.  Live in the moment, enjoy the victory, then focus on the next game.

6 years ago we would all have been ecstatic to be in the situation we find our favorite team in currently.

McDermott will have our team ready for the playoffs.

Let's enjoy the next 4 games.

It's time to run the table.

    GO BILLS!!!

With so many people wanting to jump off of a cliff or burn it all to the ground after a mid-season, divisional, road loss, I thought I would TRY to provide a little bit of perspective and hope.

Looking into the past 5 Super Bowl winners, they all had points in their seasons where their fans likely assumed it was “a lost cause, all the players sucked, they were cursed and/or they probably should fire everyone.”

2021 Rams (12-5): Lost 3 games in a row (weeks 9-12 w/the bye in-between).  Got beaten by SF twice including a 31-10 loss in week 10 and a loss in the season finale.

2020 Bucs (11-5): Lost 3 out of 4 mid-season (weeks 9-12) including a 38-3 thrashing by the Saints.  Brady, I’m sure, was washed up, Arians had no idea how to coach, it was a failed experiment and they all needed to be fired.

2019 Chiefs (12-4):  Lost 4 of 6 (Week5 – 10).  This was the season where Mahomes was injured and missed some time.  The initial fears on his injury were significant but he ended up only missing 2 games.  The Chiefs went 1-1 in those games.

2018 Pats (11-5): Lost 2 of their last 4.  Got stomped by Tennessee in week 10.  Lost in week 14 in Miami on that crazy last second lateral walk-off play.  They’d lose the next week against Pittsburgh to drop their record to 9-5.  Their worst record through 14 games since 2008.  I’m sure the sky definitely wasn’t falling in New England (sarcasm).

2017 Eagles (13-3):  They were fairly dominant throughout their regular season but lost Wentz in week 13 for the season. It was their second loss and dropped their record to 10-2.  I’m sure the Eagles fans felt cursed at the time.  Had a “why can’t we have nice things” mentality.   A sentimentality that I have seen expressed this week on this forum.

Point being, Super Bowl caliber teams still lose an occasional game.  Especially on the road against divisional rivals.

Thank you for bringing some logic and sanity to this board.

We can now come on off the ledge.

    Good job.

Yes it is a Super Bowl Victory or bust year, but coming out of yesterday's game (particularly the second half) and you wonder whether we as fans have set the bar too high.

The first half was vintage Buffalo (after the first three & out) and well on the way to 40+ points.

Then came the second half & wonder if it was hubris, taking one's foot off the gas or just bad play and they looked shall we say "normal".

The Bills were gashed on the run and the offense looked lost.  Allen was underwhelming, missed some throws, others were bad and made mental errors (and a few drops).

And the result was a 10 point victory.

Yes I'm very conflicted.  Sure I expect them to be angry vs. NYJ, but was yesterday's second half an anomaly, a wake-up call or a portend of things to come.

Let's keep things in perspective.  Before the season, analysts were saying that if we were 3-4 after our first 7 games we would be in good shape to make a run in the final 10 games.  We are 6-1!   Not every game is going to be perfect.  Last year we would have lost this game.

Just like pitchers in baseball, sometimes teams don't have things working the way they want and they have to grind out a victory.  That is what we did yesterday.

In another thread prior to this game someone posted the question  "are the Bills peaking too early?".  Now some are worried because we are not hitting on all cylinders in every game.

We won by 10 points and were in control for most of the game.  The 2nd half wasn’t pretty, but the Bills got the job done.

We will most likely lose a game or two we should win in the remaining 10 games.  It will be difficult  to stay ahead if KC for the AFC best record.  KC  has s soft remaing schedule for most of their remaining games. We will have our ups and downs. That is the NFL.

I thought Edmunds has played better this year, but he was pathetic tonight. Just awful. When he wasn’t getting eaten up by blockers he was looking lost out there. He was like Ray Charles at an *****, blindly guessing which hole to fill.

He did lead the team in tackles tonight.  I know for all the anti Edmunds out there tackles means nothing, just like the two pro bowl honors he received.

Everyone has games where they are not as sharp as usual.

Even Josh has bad games now and then.

The Jets (5-2) are playing the Pats (3-4) this week and despite the fact that the Jets are only 1 loss behind us in the W/L column, I cannot force myself to root for the Patriots.  Anyone else feel that way?   Maybe it is because I still think that the Jets will fall off a cliff here soon, especially after losing Hall.

    ..here's hoping for a 0-0 tie.

Hate to say, but go Pats.

Not my favorite, but winning they way they do - it's growing on me!!!!

QUESTION:  They've worn these several times this year - I was wondering if these were favorites of the players?  Does anyone know?

What's happened to the blue jersey and white pants?  That is the best uniform in the NFL!

A-A-ron is going to ball out.  We'll need our A game to win.  Hope we're not looking past this.  We don't need a Jags type game from last year.

I share your concern.  Every season the Bills lose one or two games that they should have dominated.  We need to avoid those mental lapses if we want to have home field throughout the playoffs.

    Focus! Go Bills!

I don’t think that anyone but the Bills, and to a lesser extent, Rams, are options for OBJ. He doesn’t want a long-term commitment IMO. He wants to finish the year well, while playing important games. He wants to prove he’s healthy, and win another ring in the process. In the off-season he will try to chase a big deal.

He and Von are best friends. There was an article on it not too long ago. I’d bet, that a deal has already been “agreed to” contingent on him hitting certain metrics with his recovery. He will join the Bills in the next few weeks and be ready for the home stretch and playoffs. If he’s healthy, that’s his best option. He knows that.

That could be interesting.  We will see how it plays out.

  9. Who cares.

It was better than the old rock pile.

I had the opportunity to speak with Len Dawson at an autograph show in Chicago.  When he heard I was a Bills fan his face lit up and said "The old rock pile".

He then said that the visiting locker room had only two showers and only one of them worked.

    We had a good laugh.

By the way, Len Dawson seemed like a genuinely really good person.

I think reffing was better in the old days; the current system has made officials hesitant and not nearly as confident as they used to be to make a ruling on the field.

They need to scrap the entire review/challenge system ENTIRELY and go back to 1965 with all this.

The games will be SO MUCH better to watch, and go quicker too.

And some calls will be good and some will be bad, JUST LIKE NOW.

The reffing was much more decisive.   To move back to no replays the rules for a catch, interference, holding, and ruffing the passer would have to be simplified.
