  1. Can he gain 10lbs of solid weight? Yes. He's not a speedy guy anyway. And he's not the guy, right now anyway, to gain separation by himself. I envision him in the slot making contested catches. So gaining muscle may be good for him.

I think his biggest obstacle is Covid 19. It's hard to gain 10lbs of muscle. But it's even harder to do it without help. Monitoring calorie intake, macros, and a proper weight training regimen. I don't think the bills training staff will be able to help much right now.

  2. I don't know if any are locks after Epenesa and Moss. But they all have a chance to make the final roster. I have a feeling that Hodgins will be a better pro than Davis. He seems to be the right kind of WR that Allen needs. A big target. Like Duke, Hodgins doesn't get much separation. But, unlike Duke, the young man CATCHES EVERYTHING. I can see Josh giving Hodgins a chance to make a play on the ball.

I get what you're saying about Know not having a lot of opportunities at Ole Miss but then again maybe they didn't throw to him much because they knew he had hands of stone.

The problem might simply be that he lacks hand-eye coordination and that's virtually impossible to teach.  I'm not going to rush to judgment on a rookie but the drops are concerning.  He's not getting any love from me - beyond the love I give all players in a Bills uni - until he proves he can be a reliable target for Josh.

Maybe he needs someone tossing bricks at him. Didn't Jerry Rice train his hands this way? I could swear I read that somewhere. Maybe just an urban legend.

Dareus was a day one starter and incredible talent who played at a high level even as "lazy" as he was. He dealt with a massive train of tragedies in a short period of time and he just couldn't cope with it. Whaley and the Bills staff at the time knew what he was dealing with and they were doing their best to help him and encourage him. It was a solid draft choice that didn't go as planned for anyone. I give my best wishes to Marcel, that he can recover and lead a good life whether he plays football again or not.

I agree with you that he was troubled. I too hope things get better for him. He suffered terrible losses as well.

But I feel that you could see this on the field at Alabama. Just went through the motions at times. Physical abilities were not the problem.

I know this is just a game we're talking about. He had more important things going on.

But respectfully, I don't think his career was solid for the #3 overall pick. You need a superstar at that pick. I appreciate your comments by the way. Our opinions aren't that far apart, I feel.

A lot of people died around him.  Sometimes that motivates people.  Other times, you go the opposite way.

I’m going to call BS in the Watt stuff.  You were really calling for the Bills to draft a guy with 11.5 sacks in 3 years in college?  Really??? Over the guy who was the D player of game in a national championship? Really???

Yes, I was calling for him. It's not just about stats. Watching him play in college, you could see he was a monster. His game speed for a guy that big was just unreal.

I did not want Dareus. Again, just from watching him play. He dominated at times, but didn't seem to care at others.

I've been wrong plenty of times with regards to college players. I have no problem admitting that. I wasn't sold on Russell Wilson. Huge screw up there.

  6. I don't like our chances if Fromm has to play a few games for us this year. He may be good for the QB room. But I don't see him being good for the field on Sundays.

Playing game manager for a crazy talented college program doesn't mean he has what it takes in the NFL. I wanted the Bills to take a QB in the draft. Just not Fromm.

He's the kind of guy who becomes a successful coach after leaving the NFL.

Epenesa is listed at 275 and Oliver is around 290. Epenesa actually had the highest body fat % of any DE at the combine so it will be interesting to see what the plan is at the gym for him.

I didn't know that about the body fat. I wonder if playing at 260 - 265 would allow him to play quicker without losing too much strength.

His film study is also very impressive, my initial reaction to this pick was totally wrong. After 6 hours of reading and watching I think this guy is going to be a nice addition to this defense. Nice job Beanie.

I'm the same way. I didn't like the pick at first. But I've been watching a lot more of him over the past few hours. He's slow. But he is freakishly strong, and just seems to make plays. Like you're saying, maybe it's his film study that will set him apart. We'll see. Hopefully he ends up as a great addition that teams regret passing over.

  9. Couldn't agree with you more on Kristian Fulton, and Jaylon Johnson. Love these 2 guys more than any of the other 1st round CBs except Okudah. I'm on board with one of these 2 guys if they're there at 54.

I think Edge rusher and CB2 are our biggest needs right now. I really don't want Gross-Matos. The only edge I like in this spot is Terrell Lewis.

I dont think either guy is worth those contracts today.  Neither are at pro bowl or pro bowl alternate level yet.  Those are the guys Buffalo fans adore the team traidionally over pays.  The truely elite guys like Gilmore, in this case White, become too expensive and are not retained.  I think Dawkins is closer to being a core player than Milano, but neither are as important or as good as White.    I hope Buffalo breaks the mold.  Pay White and letnthe middle of the roster players walk who want too much money.

They got 2020 to see if either guy is worth it.  If Milano looks like a real playmaker maybe you keep him over Dawkins.

Maybe so on Milano over Dawkins. It's possible, I won't count anything out. But he'd have to ball out. As it is, Milano is a better LBer than Dawkins is an LT, but LT is just so valuable to a football team's success.

  11. I really like Milano. But I don't see the Bills signing him to an extension. It's all about allocation of resources. The salary cap is a finite number. Tre and Dawkings are going to average 35 - 40 million total. Milano will require a lot of money to re-sign. Not LT or CB money. But it will be a significant number. You want to keep your own, but you can't re-sign everyone.

Epenesa?    He seems like he's falling over the past month...

I'm not high on Epenesa either. the guy is strong as an ox...the problem is that moves like an ox plowing a field. I don't see him getting a lot of consistent pressure on the QB in the pros (Of course, I'm not a scout or GM).

So what is he in the NFL? A run-stopping DE in a 4-3 on obvious running downs? Kicked inside to DT on obvious passing downs? Do you spend a high draft pick on him if he really is one of these two things.

The guy has the strength and skill to play in the NFL. Probably great as a back-up because his floor is pretty high. But I wouldn't want to use a 1st or 2nd on him since I can't see that much of a ceiling.

It amazes me how often this comes up. For years we have dealt with needing a QB1 and we finally get one in Allen and now ppl have moved on to worrying about the backup. I get being worried because of how he plays but really? I'm more focused on Allen progressing than I am who warms the bench behind him.

I hear you there. I won't speak for anyone else, but my concern isn't, "who covers for Allen if he fails?" My concern is, "who covers for Allen if he gets injured?

I wouldn't say QB2 is a huge need. But I'd say it is a need. Can Barkley win a few games if needed? I'm not sure.

  14. This team certainly looks better on paper. Now it's up to the coaches to get them to play as a team. I believe they will.

Success still hinges on Josh Allen taking a big step this year. His willingness to be coaches and make changes to his game gives me hope that he'll improve. With this roster, we don't need him to be great just yet. But he becomes a genuinely "good" quarterback, this team will win a lot of games.

He's not there yet, so winning the division is not a foregone conclusion. But it is a pretty decent bet.

As long as they have Belichick, NE will continue to be be a thorn in our side. Hopefully the magic was all Brady and not the Hoodie. I guess we will find out this season.

Agreed. I'm not as bullish, as many others are, about our chances to take the division.

We should be in the hunt. But the pats wiil still be tough (is Dalton that much of a step down from the current Brady). And I expect the dolphins to be a lot better next year.

You'll hear no sh!+ talking from me about the current state of the pats. Though I'm hoping we stomp them into the ground.
