The Jets with Rodgers would be true contenders. The entire North can make noise.
Adrian Peterson made maybe the greatest recovery from ACL surgery and that was 8 months after. And he was not 39.
ACL tears are one of the most widespread and devastating injuries for athletes, impacting the likes of Tom Brady, Tiger Woods and Chipper Jones. While many athletes find that an ACL injury puts them out of the game for months, if not years, advances in ACL surgery are making it possible for sports stars to get back to their games faster. Football great Adrian Peterson recently made a tremendous recovery after ACL reconstruction, opening the season just eight months after having surgery. -
Always excuses..... SF has a mediocre QB who yes needs all his weapons to look great. The excuses for the defense never cease, especially since McD is coaching them. Simply they need to play better and be coached better too.
I will agree that the offense and coaching on that side needs to be aggressive and score a lot of points.
Look at what Philly is doing. The Bills offense woke up some on Thursday, but still things seem difficult.
But yup can't wait 'til Cincy put up 31 (not that I want them to) and come Monday we're told they were gutsy and undermanned and can't expect any more from them.
BTW Purdy threw for 365 vs. Cincy's D (ran for 57 too). Dorsey should be able to exploit their D and Allen has some #'s to shoot for😜.

This team hasn't shown up since Miami. With how Cincinnati has come on esp. Yesterday, it's easily going to look as bad as it did in January.
Can anything happen, sure. Will it? Looking at cold had facts...no.
I'm not as pessimistic, but this is where we are with the Bills. They are an elite team and frankly the excuses from some here get tired after a while.
The issue hasn't changed with the defense. They allow teams back in the game and way too often too many 3rd and 4th downs converted and soft coverages.
What really bothers me is the over-reactions when they make a stop on 2nd down and act as if they just got off the field and then lo and behold, the opposition converts on 3rd (or 4th).
McD (and his disciples here) go on about his defense and frankly they are mediocre (or much worse) when games are on the line.
37 minutes ago, GunnerBill said:No. The Bills defense is not in position without two of its best 3 players to win us games against the best teams. If the Bills can keep Cincy below 30 that would be a huge win. Realistically these big games are going to have to be won by the offense.
The Bills D has played well vs Tyrod and Baker for the most part. They sucked against the Patriots and that was largely on McDermott's gameplan IMO. But they simply don't have the horses at the moment to hold the Bengals.
The rest of the way the offense will have to carry is in the heavyweight matchups. They are the ones under the microscope IMO.
I'll agree the offense needs to carry them and that means aggressive coaching on that side of the ball, but quit always making excuses for the defense. Are they injured yes, but then it is next man up? Remember how bad Cincy's OL was coming into the playoff game vs. Buffalo and they manhandled them.
We should expect the same from McD of the defensive side of the ball.
Of course I'll be thrilled with a 38-35 victory and complaining about the defense next week.😜🤣

I think the Bills D will have their best game of the season so far(stat wise). O will also have a chip on their shoulders. Thursday was just a glimpse of the future game tempo and the game will turn out like the Dolphins game.😁
We can only hope. Issues are however still there. Up tempo, but still only 24 points.
What however has you feeling positive about the defense?

After Tyrod, Mac & Baker and what has been meh performances (and I'll throw in allowing Jax putting up 500 yards on the Bills defense), this week will tell a lot.
The offense should carry a big chip on their shoulder from last January and better put up 30+ and be aggressive (i.e. 4th downs <5 inside the oppositions territory), because I don't see the defense being able to stop Burrow.
Hope I'm wrong as this game is big.

A qb sneak from inside the 1 yard works.... Wow who would have thought it would work? Oh and Philly going for it on 4th and 4.

We weren't talking about the previous 3 games, we were specifically talking about last nights game.
You didn't answer my question.
What point were you trying to make about not forgetting the 327 yards passing?
Quit being obtuse. Bad coaching resulted in only 24 points being scored and a game coming down to the last play.
The thread is about McD. I'm done with you.

What point are you trying to prove about stating "don't forget 327 yards passing"? Is 100 yards rushing bad or something?
So you're happy that four games in a row the Bills have been middle of the road at best?
Yes I'm happy Josh was running again.
Asking for a friend.

What are you complaining about? We had 427 yards total offense and that's the most important stat to you.
Don't forget 327 yards passing. Sure Oldmanfan is proud of you....
24 points when it should have been 35+ again shows the issues this team is facing with McD as HC.
-
Say whatever you want but after three terrible performances (Jax, NYG & NE), coaching is to blame they couldn't do better vs. TB.
-
The problem is 3 games in a row against vastly inferior teams went down to the last second. Who else can you blame by McD. He didn't have them ready and allowed Mac Jones to dissect them apart.
This game should have been get back on the saddle a convincing win and 10 days to rest up.
The blame is squarely on McD, but luckily it was a win.

And then a sneak in the next series.
That gained 2+ yards. Oh yea, forgot about Allen's shoulder that time?
-
If ever there was a game to right the ship and show your dominance it is Thursday night at home, versus an inferior opponent. Yep they won, but again too many little things where they did not execute.

Granted, they were smoked by a really bad NE offensive team...especially on that last drive.
Listen to the all-22 and see that most of the team played poorly. They benched Williams and brought in Dodson and he was a little better. It was so bad that Jordan Poyer was playing LBer...
I don't know why, but it seems like these bad teams suddenly play like world-beaters against the Bills. Starting with the Jags, then the Giants played the best game of the season against Buffalo and the Bills were lucky to even win that game.
Looking back, it's sort of amazing how they beat the Raiders, Commanders, and Dolphins so profoundly. 38-10, 37-3, 48-20. Currently, they can't score in the first half, missing field goals by Bass 0 matic.
Suddenly, the Buffalo offensive line that looked so good in those winning games now looks really, really bad. We know why the defense looked bad to a degree because of the loss of star players. But still, they really stunk on that last NE drive.
If they continue to play like they have the last few games... it's season over.
But the Raiders & Commanders were both able to move the ball, though points were minimal. The Bills padded their turnover and sack stats, but dive deeper and there were cracks that I pointed out. Dolphins they were a little better, but also a TD was called back and there were some 4th down stops deep in Buffalo territory.
Just food for thought.

Played lousy, put up 25 points (missed FG too) and dropped fourth down pass.
Oh and he's to blame for the Pats last drive too?
Maybe not his greatest game, but more then enough to win.
Remember those saying "Just Win Baby"😉

Can we fire posters?
The team lost their elite LB, and elite DB to injuries and is still stopping offenses. The offense is having issues with not being able to score in the first half of the last few games. Yes, blame Josh Allen to a degree. Blame Dorsey to a degree.
The trade deadline coming up and Beane should make some moves...to whom, I have no idea.
This wasn't on coaching! It was on the players!
What KoolAid are you drinking???? Wow just wow..... Mac Jones torched them. Tyrod pout up #'s and Jax had almost 500 yards.
-
First the proviso, that I think McD is a good coach, however not great & frankly I've said it before I never bought into what was referred to as The Process.
So one, the sliding glass door question.
If Andy Dalton doesn't connect with Boyd on a 40 yard TD on 4th down and the Bills don't make the playoffs, does peoples' perception of McD change?
And #2. Yes we know injuries, and I'm of the camp that all teams have them, but.....
The fact that McD is coaching the defence this year (and not Frazier) too affect how people perceive them?
They were good vs. Las Vegas and Washington, but I posted that I saw some cracks. Vs. NYJ they were gashed on the ground and still amazed at all the praise they got allowing almost 500 yards vs. Jax and barely a stop (yes not a lot of points). They were getting a great many takeaways and timely bounces (have read about fumble probabilities) that went their way.
And really some people still shifting the blame to the offence when Mac Jones tore them apart?
As usual food for thought.
-
And again if this was Frazier's defense all fans would be up in arms (injuries or no injuries).
The fact anyone defends that side of the ball is because McD is coaching it.

Mac Jones had his best game by far yesterday, His quarterback rating was 126.7 for the day. Even with yesterday's inflated number, his average rating for this year is 81.8. His highest game day rating this year before yesterday was 91.3 with a low of 30.5.
And he looked like Joe Montana in his prime, setting a completion percentage ratio of 83.3% and again including yesterday's inflated number, his average this season is 66.7%.
And yet I read several threads on TDB about how desperately we need to fire Ken Dorsey, how josh Allen looks disinterested, etc.
The glaring problem isnt on offense, not on Dorsey and Not on Allen (except the Jets game).
How anyone can defend the defence yesterday is completely beyond me. Mac Jones, Mac Freakin Jones picked them apart.
But go ahead blame Allen.
Love you McD apologists.😜

NE pressured 40.9% yesterday and there were 18 hurries.
How is that acceptable?
Add to that Davis never seems to get open and throws to the middle of the field and room to run are non-existent.

This thread is about the defense and they were again pathetic yesterday. NE score 20 points (on the nose) once in their first 6 games and put up 29 vs. Buffalo.
MAJBobby though decides this is about JA and the offense. He is right the offense is not playing well, but the defense let them down again (as they did vs. Jax).
To allow Mac Jones, who frankly one more bad game may have been done as the NE starting QB to surgically dissect the Bills apart is pathetic.
As for Josh, seemed again he was running for his life.

How did your 250M QB play? How about that completely healthy offense?
I mean they didn’t throw a pick on play one right?
they didn’t continue to not show up the entire first half?
Is the defense missing
all pro LBer
both Top end DTs
all pro CB
Again look at the drives and they had a TD wiped out on a questionable call, a missed FG and the usual suspect playcalling.
It was Mac Jones that lit up the defense this week. Quit looking to blame Allen.

Geez I remember questioning the defense allowing almost 500 yards vs. Jax and people here telling us that the "D" played admirably. What a crock.
Yesterday they allowed Mac Jones to go 25-30 and complete pass after pass and got 1 sack.
They got gifted a fumble, but when you needed a defense to make a play they did not.
McD built his reputation on that side of the ball and has been embarrassed. What a bunch of front runners they are.

HE is the HC! During the TD celebrations and TV TO, it was up to McClapper to get his ST & D players ready to perform EXACTLY in the manner toproceed forward. In those critical, never seen before FUBARed moments it was ENTIRELY up to him, to dictate exactly how 13 seconds and 3 plays will be defended!
He failed all 3!
Don't forget they used two time outs too in order to ensure the right defense and terrible each time.
Yesterday Allen had 12 seconds too. Unfortunately Diggs dropped a pass that at least would have allowed a hail mary.
