Sully and Gleason are trolls, nothing more. No doubt the current eras of the Sabres and Bills are target rich for critics. And the new owners have made their share of mistakes. A semi-skilled writer could offer insight into what's going on with the team and write some good articles.
These guys don't do that though. Instead of offering a clue why Ryan's defense isn't working (maybe compare it to Rob's Saints defense), they call Rex a blowhard and take other easy potshots.
And every article they write about the Pegulas reads like a crackpot conspiracy theory.
It's difficult to not be critical of the Bills organization over the past few years, but maybe the professional writers could leave the hysteria, cheap insults, and tinfoil hat conspiracies to the Internet, and conduct themselves with some dignity and class.

Pegula needs to hire a czar before he hire the next coach. Spend the next few weeks finding a candidate and then turn football operations over to him.

Yep. The idea that the offense is fine because the team scored 31 points is absurd to anyone who actually watched the game. Zero sustained drives until the last possession, when the Jets DB's were lined up in Lackawana. And that 4th and 1 sequence....
And the defense gave up huge chunks of yards on 3rd downs to a journeyman QB. Are we really going to argue this? The OC was fired five days into the season by a coach who practices nepotism and is trying to save his own job.
It's a total tire fire. It's Mexican soap opera level drama. It's a joke.

Here is the truth about the game last night:
1. Defense was bad. To be fair, it was missing its most talented player and 3 other expected week 1 starters. It was also facing a ton of pressure having to be on the field for a ridiculous amounts of time because the offense left the field quickly in the first half from either quick score or a unsustained drives. At the same time, the scheme itself looked bad, I mean it was like the safeties were ghosts out there. Hard to say how much of that had to do from the missing personnel and getting wore out never getting off the field, but overall, the secondary was torn apart and was frequently in bad position.
2. Offense was more bad than good. Offense had a few bright spots, and we got a couple scores in those few bright spots. However, overall, the play calling was utterly atrocious, the effort from some of the guys TT threw too was piss poor (Clay I am still furious over that 3rd down where you ran your route straight out of bounds and didn't even look for the ball TT threw right into your butt that you should have caught for a first), and TT more often than not looked uncomfortable and didn't see multiple opportunities or flat our missed them.
The team did battle back, but that battle back was more built around a couple of big plays rather than a consistent team making plays.
Overall, I havent been that disgusted with an OC since that POS Hacket was here. I mean throwing bombs on 3rd and 1 or getting too cute on 3rd and 1 all game long is how you lose football games and put even more pressure on your D. His run schemes are terrible too and he has no clue how to get the most out of McCoy. Any OC who isn't getting a min of 10 attempts to Sammy and 10 to Clay every game shouldn't be coaching as those are our only 2 real receiving weapons. Woods is a 3rd string WR at best who never seems to keep his feet. Goodwin is a deep threat specialist with the talent to be more but the body who can't be more because he can't take the hits. So if you aren't throwing 10 times a game to Clay and Sammy then you need your head examined as an OC. Not to mention, Roman seems to have no idea how to actually run plays for those guys when he does.
I gave Roman credit last year, but man he has been bad this year. All the things he did last year that irked me have become the norm this year. At least last year, there were a lot of other positives to over shadow the dumb calls.
PS: This team misses Karlos Williams...a lot. McCoy is NOT a power back. Hopefully Williams can come in and fill some of those shoes.
The defense had more than enough opportunity to get off the field. The Jets were over 70% on third downs, and converted many 3rd and longs. The defense's problem was the cover 1 that Rex stupidly believed the Bills CBs could handle. Fitzgerald was throwing into tight coverage, and the DBs couldn't make the plays.
You would think after the first half, Rex and Rob would figure this out, but the Bills stayed in cover 1 or man 2 for most of the rest of the game.
The Bills defense lost that game on 3rd down last night, playing schemes that their secondary personnel couldn't handle.

Reports from Schefter that Roman is being fired.

Whos greg Gabriel?
A master of the obvious.
-
Jets had 375 yards in the air and 123 on the ground. That's why you hire a defensive genius like Rex Ryan to be your coach!
-
Man. That third timeout sure would be nice here.
That would require strategy.
-
Tyrod literally has the check down and the deep throw
I question whether he has any situational awareness at all.
Whaley needs to go with Rex. Football Czar time
Whaley's been in the front office for what, six years or so, and the Bills had one winning season in that time? Why WOULDN'T you fire him?
-
Rex won't be fired unless we lose 12 games or more. Sorry guys. He gets at least one more year
You're probably right, and that's why the continuity argument is garbage. Rex is who he is. Giving him another game, or another month, or another season isn't going to change that. He was washed up two years ago.
Meanwhile, the franchise sinks in the name of continuity.
-
As far as I'm concerned, Rex should have been fired after the 2nd game last season (the Patriots home game). Every game since then has just been a waste of time. Rex's neanderthal approach is not a fit for the modern NFL.

Create a pile up formationally and then run a finesse back into said pile
Yeah, the Ramsey Bolton strategy from the Battle of the Bastards didn't work there.
-
The Bills have the worst coaching staff in the league.
-
This is pathetic.
-
Hey, a north/south run by Shady!
-
This defensive scheme looks like something a 9 year old with ADD would call playing Madden.
-
This is the Saints defense from last year.
-
Note to Whaley, let Gilmore walk.
-
Is muscle-head Ed a doctor now?
-
If you think the defense is embarrassing, take a second and look at the TOP. The defense has been on the field way to long. It doesn't excuse everything... but I mean cmon.
Look at the Jets 3rd down conversion rate. Chan is schooling Rex.
-
Rex is a fraud.
-
Does Rex have any other brothers he can hire to help us out? Maybe a cousin or a nephew?
-
Well typical Bills game. After a half of terrible football, we get to honor a guy who was drafted over thirty years ago. It's been going on for 16 years now.
-
Taylor bails on a good pocket and Shady doesn't run out of bounds.
Time to fire Whaley

This is Whaley's 7th year in the Bills front office. His first three years he was the assistant GM. This season is his fourth as GM.
The Bills record during his six plus years with the team is 40-59. Almost 20 games under .500. Not good.
The Bills record with him serving as GM is
24-27. Mediocre.
You cannot argue that the Bills have not had consistency in the front office during Whaley's tenure. They've had time to implement a 5 year plan, or multiple three year plans. And yet the record is mediocre, if not outright bad.
This season is it for Whaley. The team he's built over the last seven years needs to start winning to save his job.
