Anything new to report (Everett injury)?
ndmanley replied to Greg de'Ville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills have to take out an insurance policy and the player is the beneficiary. I am not sure on the amount but it is probably covered in the CBA. -
HOLY COW! Rigas has to pay 715 million!
ndmanley replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While it is true that it is a shame that he built the company from nothing and blew it. The bigger shame is that he stole millions. He ruined lives and he cost people their jobs and their savings. And the greatest shame of it all is that after all that has happened; he gets to keep $78.9M in assets. -

It gets worse. Adelphia (not Rigas) is paying the Justice department $715M. Adelphia is getting the money from the over $1.5B they got from Rigas. It is that $1.5B that represents 95% of their assets. That means he gets to keep $78.9M. What makes this worse is that it appears that both Adelphia's and the Justice department cases will be settled by this. Plus, neither John nor Timothy Rigas have been sentenced yet for their crimes. http://money.cnn.com/2005/04/25/technology...dex.htm?cnn=yes http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/t...ettlement_x.htm -

That means they get to keep $37.6M. That isn't exactly making them poor. Now, my guess is the assets they keep are probably assets that cannot be touched by the Adelphia lawsuit. So, they will end up just fine. -
Nice reference. He is long gone. He was funny for a while but JK is way better with him gone.

If you enforce the rules, that would help. The biggest difference would be if they moved to a larger ice surface (i.e. international hockey). The players have become so big and the equipment so good that they have simply out grown the current rink size. However, they will never do that though because there are too many new arenas and it would just eliminate premium seats.

Perhaps Tom D. is not the idiot everyone

In a battle of wits between Donahoe and Green, I will take Donahoe anytime. He will get what we want. He is just trying to see who blinks first. -
And that is why Bledsoe never progressed as a quarterback (and was ultimately unsuccessful with us). It takes more than just throwing the ball deep to be successful QB. If doesn't know that now, he never will.

I also think Willis McGahee will be our starter at HB.

We are not talking about production. He had a great game and many other great games. Even in that game, you don't see Andre Reed walking up and down the sideline making sure his team stays in it. However, you do see Kelly and Talley being leaders.
-
I have to agree. Let's not forget how self centered Andre Reed was. Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith won many times because they were the leaders that sometimes willed their team to win. During our great years, those people were Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas. I would not say that about Reed. Reed has great numbers but it will be tough to put more than four or five Bills of that era in the Hall. I would put him behind Kelly, Smith, Thomas, Hull, and possibly Tasker (although it is tough to put in a special teams guy).

No one acts anymore. Everything that is old is great. Nothing new is any good. Paul McCartney is the best half time performer ever. Blah! Blah! Blah! Personally, movies haven't been the same since they invented sound. What really drives me crazy is all this color on the TV. What do we need all the color for black and white is just fine. Frankly, why do we need TV? I long for the day when a man can come home from a tough day of riveting. Open up the ice box and have a Genny Creme Ale, while lounging in my dungarees and listen to a fireside chat on the Victrola.

I think people are assuming I don't like other music or their music wasn't good. It is not about their music. The Beatles and Paul McCartney were one of the greatest bands. However, their time has past (not the music). It is like watching Unitas in a Chargers uniform or Thurman in a Dolphins uniform.

Never said Ashlee Simpson was any good.

That is funny.

I really like all kinds of music. You might be surprised to hear this but I like the Beatles music. The difference is that those days are gone and too many people are holding on to the past a bit too tight. I was a big fan of U2 although the latest CD leaves something to be desired (proving it is a young man's game). Recently, I like Green Day and Maroon Five, and the Killers. As you said though, it is just an opinion. As far as the broad brush, there have been many in this thread. I am just adding to it. People saying that at least he isn’t lip syncing, all pop music is trailer trash, etc.

You are dead on. Everyone who thinks that the halftime show was so great, has to remember that some of the songs are now nearing 40 years old(Guns n Roses covered “Live and Let Die” 20 years ago). For all you baby boomers, that is the equivalent of you having to listen to the big band sounds of the 30's and 40's. Could you imagine having to listen to Benny Goodman? Think how you felt when everyone told you how great that music was and how your music is crap. Everyone always thinks that their generations’ music is the best and everyone else’s is crap. Bottom line is that music is a young person’s game and watching ageing stars, like Paul McCartney was not only boring but painful.

Do you really believe difference between the Bills being in the playoffs is our cornerback and our right tackle? Last time I looked, neither played QB. Losing Winfield was a loss but McGee played well and he seems to have a ton of upside. We just could not keep him at that cap number. Those of the type of decisions that Butler made (see Rueben Brown) and set the franchise back. Besides, if we kept Winfield, then we would not have signed Vincent. Of course, that would mean Baker, Prioleau, or Reese would be our free safety (unless you are going to move Winfield to safety). McKinnie has been up and down just like Williams (and many young linemen). The jury is still out on that one.

Miami's win over Pats: Bills perspective.
ndmanley replied to Fear the Turtle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought that too but NE owns the head to head tiebreaker with Indy. If NE, loses and Indy wins they will be tied. So then it will go to the last week. The problem is NE plays at 1:00 (against SF) and Indy plays at 4:00. By the time Indy kicks off, NE will have kicked the crap out of SF. -
No apology is needed. He deserved all the heat he was getting. He brought it upon himself. He showed up late and overweight, skipped practices and mini camps, did not play well at beginning of the season, etc. That being said, he is playing much better. So, has the entire offensive line. There are a lot of people who deserve credit his and the line’s improvement (the most obvious is Mike Williams himself) but I think you are starting to see how important McNally is.

Obviously Denver, Jacksonville, and Baltimore have to lose one more game each (or Jets lose two). We really need the Titans to come up big next week. Denver finishes the year home to Indy. Since Indy plays SD this week, the winner will have the three seed locked up (unless the Patriots lose 3 straight including tonight and against SF). Indy will probably use week 17 as their bye week. We also need Pittsburgh to come up big next week too. The Ravens finish up at home to the Dolphins. Now, the Jaguars have two winnable games (Texans and at Oakland) but could easily lose one of those games. Crap, I am a nervous wreck!!!!! Damn opening game! Why did Nate just knock it down?

Like wow. Harrison signs 66 million extension
ndmanley replied to nodnarb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is great news. If James leaves, then Indy will need a running back. The Bills may be able to move Travis and get decent value (I hope for a 1st round pick but realize a 2nd would be probably the best we could expect). TH has a cap friendly contract. He would fit perfectly into the Colts, who will need cap relief.
