A large chunk of the fanbase is still in denial.

Believe me, I went into the offseason with the same attitude.  Cut a few aging vets.  Make a few smart free agent signings.  Kill the draft.  Get some bargains post June as the cherry on top, and prepare for another AFC East title.  Hopefully more this time.  Other teams (Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, San Francisco, etc.) seem to keep the ball rolling year after year after year.  Why can't we?  I laughed off all the media folks saying the window was closed, and the Bills would be rebuilding.

But I was wrong.  Without clearly saying it, Brandon Beane has sent the clear message we are NOT expecting a deep run this year.  This offseason absolutely is a total rebuild.  Every single move he's made screams that he's building for 2025, and I'm shocked that some people can't see it.

The Jets are winning the AFC East.  It won't be close.  And we may even get passed by Miami this year.

Agreed and I believe they may not be planning for it but they will finally move on from Mcdermott if things go bad,  he will be the guy everyone goes after.

Let's start by getting Von & Dawson contracts out. Drafting only Coleman sends a loud & clear message we're in full rebuild mode. Too bad....thought we had a chance to just reload?

I think Dawson's contract is one of the worse of bad contract Beane has worked

Yeah good point, that speaks to the overall strategy. Everything they've done this offseason has set the roster up more for 2025 than 2024. This year they're going to let young players take their lumps, still try to compete for a championship but they're not all in.

My worry is that this means McDermott and Beane both know their jobs are safe next year no matter what and feel no urgency to show improvement.

I  don't agree,  maybe for Beane but not Mcdermott who is lucky to finish last season up strong .  If this team misses the playoffs then more fans will be coming after him and you still have fans that will not forget 13secs.  I could see him fired if this season finishes less then 9 wins

This quote from Beane defines the entire draft strategy:

He is giving it to us straight. The Bills are in a rebuild year. So he went for all team captains. Guys that interviewed well. Guys that he believes set a new foundation of leadership in the building. He hunted for short term needs that fit the singular character profile he and McDermott feel comfortable with, at the expense of talent at premium positions. And he is telling the fanbase to temper our expectations without coming right out and saying it.

I'm not gonna grade a draft until we see how all the players turn out, but the overall philosophy shown this weekend is deflating and uninspiring.

Too bad, no excuses if this team sucks then Pegula needs to make changes because we can't continue to waste Allen's prime years. The Chiefs had a reset year 2 seasons ago after trading Hill away,  they won a Super Bowl by hitting on all of their picks that year.  Most of these players look like Mcdermott guys,  high character and limited in elite athletic talent. It was not very smart wasting a 4th rounder on a running turning 25 this year. Maybe you use a 6th or 7th but not a 4th

The whole draft starting with opening night has been deflating and uninspiring and we have Beane Stans that think these picks have been great.

Fans need to stop lowering the bar,  when you have a great QB there is no excuses

I don't believe we see the same offensive philosophy this year.  I can imagine we are moving to being bigger, and more physical vs fast and finesse.

Then trade Cook away and get a thumper,

Beane and McDermott have been living off Allen,  if this season goes bad they both need to be shown the door and get a manager and HC that focuses is on the offence and helping their QB.  There is no #1 on this team

    He just doesn't get it.

He doesn't get how wrong he is.

I just have visions of this offence struggling and Allen waiting in the pocket because no one open

  6.  What a disappointing draft this has been,  outside of Cole Bishop the safety with great speed and size there is nothing but disappointment in this draft and Beane started it all on opening.  First we hand the Chiefs the fastest receiver in the draft and then Miami who is already a fast team is adding more speed to the RB position in Wright ( like why did we not add him ourselves moving up with all those 5th rounders). Beane and McDermott seem to value high motor and character guys over guys with size & speed.

I see both the Jets and Dolphins improving and taking over the division and the Bills having a big setback year. This draft was suppose help replace guys we cut or traded and I don't see anything that leads me to believe this team is any better and if not worse then last season.  Like why are you drafting a running who has so many miles and will be 25 in this year?

Again both Beane and McDermott do not understand speed and I'm tired of hearing Beane talk about "he has game speed:, outside of Cole Bishop it looks like a bunch of practice squad guys or guys lining up on special teams.

Sorry but this was one of the worse draft classes in years and I feel as sick as I did the night Beane F?up and drafted good old Cody Ford over WR'S Metcalf and Brown.  I said that night Ford was going to be a bust and he was.

  7. Things no coach can teach are size and speed/athletic ability and he has all of those things for the safety position.  I like this pick much better then other 2 choices ,  I  just hope Beanne focuses in on speed with his day 3 choices.  Tired of hearing about high motor and good character guys,  you think Andy Reid cares about high character guys.

  8. As long as they live with their results and own it,  if this team misses the playoffs then I don't want hear Beane making excuses about being a reset year.  McDermott needs to be replaced because Andy Reid two seasons ago in a reset year won a Superbowl.

I suspect a majority of their picks will be used towards defence and that is soely because McDermott's push. Another thing,  if Worthy turns into another stud like Hill then Beane needs to follow McDermott out the door

We spent a lot of time with DeJean, Franklin and Walker pre-draft. I think tomorrow, we either go DeJean and Walker, or Franklin and ??

No thanks on Dejean,  that would be a total draft screw up.  He is not worth more then a 3rd or 4th rounder

  10. Pegula should have made changes after 13 secs,  this is turning into a clown show.  You have Beane handing massive contracts to older players creating one of the worse cap situations in the NFL and his good buddy McDermott who cannot win in the playoffs. To be clear the Bills gave up having a 5th year option for any first rounder so they could  move up from a 4th to a 3rd and move up some other pics.  They gained no extra picks,  Beane is all talk and I'm sorry not interested in trading for a receiver like Aiyuk who wants big money and may not even be a true #1 option.

Then we have the cheerleader fans who believe Mcdermott and Beane deserve to be paid massive money and and have jobs for life for ending the drought and being a consistent playoff team with a top 3-4 QB

Really feel bad for Josh. He is about to turn 28 and The Bills are basically saying "we are letting one of your prime years go to waste" and "hey, Jim Kelly was 30 when The Bills went to their first Super Bowl!! Maybe this will happen for you too!!".

This has been the most bizarre off season.

One of worse offseason ever and teams in our division are getting better

  11. This was a terrible move,  all we need is to hand the Chiefs to have the next Hill.  Just a stupid move and only got a 3rd and gave up a 4th.  Big deal if you helped you biggest rival add another explosive receiver.   Deflating and Beane is all talk,  he screwed this team with stupid contracts to older guys and tonight he hands Fastest player in the draft to KC
