You are absolutely correct. Pettigrew is exactly what we need. He is an every down player that creates mismatches. He is the next Jason Witten. He will be a better blocker than Witten.
We have invested a huge amount of money already at DE. I don't see us using a first round pick or signing a high end free agent at the DE position, unless we release Kelsay or Schoebel. We certainly have enough other needs to address including C, TE, OLB. Believe it or not, there is a significant likelyhood that we do not address the DE position at all. We also used a 3rd on Ellis last year and Denney is solid.
Bannan looks good because he plays next to Ngata. Even Mccargo would look good next to Ngata. It just shows you what a terrible mistake the bills made on passing on Ngata. This mistake rivals Donahoes boner of letting Pat Williams go.
Matt Hasselbach, Donovan Mcnabb, Kyle Boller, Derek Anderson, Joey Harrington, Rex Grossman, Mark Bulger, Matt Cassel, John Beck. Some of these people may not be available.
Aren't you concerned that JP could blossom next year for a different team in the right system? Can you imagine how devestated bills fans would be if that happened and we were left with an underwhelming Trent?
If Edwards continue to play like a poor mans RJ, than the bills will have to look at veteran options to bring in next year. Mcnabb played at Syracuse and might be a good mentor to Edwards.
We are the least physical team in the league. Our receivers are smurfs and Lee Evans is easily stopped with a double team. We have too many choirboys and no tough guys. We will never be a real contender until we get size and meaness on the D line. Maqrcus Stroud(310lbs) is good, but not huge. We need a Pat Williams or Grady Jackson(360lbs) An NFL caliber TE would be nice too.
This should be the final statement in this thread. I like Whitner alot but, Haloti Hgata has made Justin Bannan seem like a good player. For Ngata to achieve this in his short playing career will likely result in enshrinement in Canton.
We should have taken Ngata and traded up for Whitner. Instead we reached tremendously for Mccargo. Ngata is an elite DT. I am very happy with Whitner, but for a high first 2nd and third, we only ended up with one good player (Whitner is not great or pro bowl level)
If we play 2 or 3 TE+FB on every play. we our not going to succeed on offense. None of these guys is a threat of any type. We need playmakers on the field. The presence of these noncontributors limits the number of playmakers that we can have on the field at any time. It is now painfully obvious that we really didn't need to draft so may CB and we should have addressed our TE position earlier and gotten more of an impact player than Derek Fine. I predict the the jets TE Dustin Keller will have a huge year. He would have looked great in our uniform.
Thanks for Galla's. It reminds me alot of the Buffalo food I grew up on. There are alot of us bills fans in ATL and I do miss Tim Russert. He exemplified everything that is special about buffalonians.
I agree with the price being outrageous for your typical bills fan. If it was priced comparable to RWS than it would have sold out fast like the winter classic.
