It's likely bye bye read option with Orton at QB since he's not much of a running threat.
I feel like it's best used during the hurry-up offense. While we're trying to establish the run or eat up clock later in the game, put the FB out there and run out of more traditional formations.
On that note, I haven't re-watched the game yet, but my initial impression of Richardson's run blocking was good.

Shwarts needs to call a good game on defense and I suspect he will.
Seriously.
I'm waiting for the defense to disappoint. SD was the closest they came to it, but still made good adjustments mid-game and gave us a chance to come back.
Schwartz knows the Lions well. It'll be another game where the offense decides our fate.

WSDTQNY:
"We should draft this quarterback next year:"
-
I hope Orton is fully prepared. Against this Lions D, we absolutely need to capitalize on what opportunities we get in the passing game.

Fred was awesome on Sunday. On one run play, he made 3 Texans completely whiff. I thought he would be tackled for a loss, but he ended up running for 10 yards.
-
You don't know that he can't be better in Buffalo than his previous NFL stops? Maybe the last couple of years as a backup have been a wake-up call? Maybe he will find this system to be a good fit for him?
...or maybe he will stink it up? I don't know for sure, and neither do you! But if he can be accurate and decisive, that will be a 100% improvement over Manuel whose head is completely messed up.
And the wheel keeps on turnin'

Maybe benching EJ will have the same effect as it did on Glennon?
-
Not at all. I want the QB carousel to end. This makes me less excited for the Bills' future.
I don't disagree with the decision, but wish it never had to be made.
This is not exciting. It's depressing.

EJ & Hackett lost us this game. EJ, I've had it with you. Hackett, go back to college.
I didn't have a problem with the play calling overall. The plays were there to be made, but 1) EJ's not seeing the field well or throwing an inaccurate pass, 2) the WRs are dropping the ball, and 3) the O-line is failing to protect.
I guess, if I'm gonna criticize Hackett, maybe he's not preparing them well, but I have little insight on that.

One good thing about this thread: It's better than a "Should Tuel start next week?" thread.

Prevent offense.
Nice.
I thought the D adjusted well to the short passing game. They were beat by a couple nice long passes and bad coverage. It helped that San Diego had the wind at their backs, but those plays could've been prevented. San Diego had great 3rd down conversion % coming into this game, so I wasn't totally surprised by their efficiency early on. When they're on top of their game, they're hard to stop.
Overall, it was a solid outing by the D. Schwartz didn't need to blitz more. The line was getting pressure, but Rivers beat it often enough. Blitzing more may have actually made the situation worse.

I like the 11 penalties for 110 yards.
That's a cool stat.

so now EJ is on the same level as a league MVP.
We can go back and forth with ridiculous statements all day. I'm sipping a nice brew and watching AZ vs SF.
This thread is comedic relief for me.

Might be onto something there. People just need to take a step back. Even Manning and Brady and Luck and Rodgers have bad games. I'm not saying EJ is in their league, but the point is, it happens. No one is perfect. Everyone needs to step back and realize we're 2-1 and tied for 1st in our division.
Rodgers' offense only scored 7 points today against a division rival. What should GB do about him? He's clearly not the answer this year.

In what world? Here you helped us win our first two games but you didn't play well in the third, take a seat on the bench? My god the idiocy of this board after a loss is unbearable.
What percentage of the idiocy do we associate with PUI (posting under the influence)? It is game day, after all.
I say 72.5%

People get too emotional after one loss. It was definitely a bad day for the offense, but you don't bench your starter after the first bad game of the year. That kind of wishy-washy behavior will lose a locker room really fast.
Defensive game plan was really bad. Considering the loss of Ryan Matthews, I thought for sure that we'd have better coverage guys out there to handle the underneath stuff. Instead, Preston Brown is covering the slot WR and RBs? Terrible.

yup Goat was about to make the same comment after looking ar the radar.
Most of the storms are slipping north of Buffalo and it actually looks like its all clearing out.
Actually, looking at the forecast charts, that stuff around Michigan is supposed to move over Buffalo with the low-level trough.
I guess the radar is deceiving at this time.
Hoping for rain.
-
Latest from the NWS.
Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then showers likely. High near 71. Southwest wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Huh. Doesn't look as bad as they're making it out to be.

Whenever I hear his name I sing the song "My Sharona" with "Rob Bironas" subbed in.
Rob, Rob, Rob. Rooob. Bironas!

When will the world realize he is overhyped? Good CB's last 2 years, tops. Meanwhile, the best CB in the league isn't in Seattle. He's in Arizona.
Best CB outside of Corey Graham...

To continue winning:
1. Lines need to stay healthy.
2. Keep running the ball.
3. Execute better in the red zone.
-
Do not underestimate the WR trio of Allen-Floyd-Royal. They're pretty darn good.
Part of why Rivers' red zone production is so good.
This is a really tough match-up for our secondary. Even if the Chargers are one-dimensional, I don't think they're going to have much trouble scoring.
-
This is a much harder game to predict than the last two.
Things I like for the Bills:
1. Offensive element of surprise - we have some new pieces and a young OC who hasn't revealed all of the playbook. Meanwhile, Schwartz shouldn't be surprised by anything the Chargers try to do.
2. Home field - The crowd is going to amp up our defense like they did this past Sunday.
(3). Weather - In parenthesis because we don't know how it's going to be, but if it rains, that theoretically gives us a bigger advantage in the run game.
The Bills have showcased great game planning in the first two outings and have given themselves plenty of opportunities to score.
I choose to believe that in game 3 , with solid preparation and in the comfort of home field, we will hit on the plays we've missed during the first two games. This game will turn into a shoot-out.
Bills win 37-34
