  1. This isn't something new.

Baltimore did it in the early 2000s, then Pittsburgh, the Jets, then Seattle and SF...

Front office personnel from those teams are now doing the same thing here.

I think the Bills could potentially start a new trend on offense if they got really creative with the combo of EJ and Tyrod.

We'll probably just see the same multiple system we've seen in SF, though, except with more spread formations.

  2. Chip has been asked about Mathis recently and has said that basically: 1. Mathis has been on the trading block for the past two years 2. they have had zero offers for him. I don't think it's an injury.. Maybe a 'systematic non-fit'

He's been on the trading block for two years with zero offers?! That's doubtful to me.

Probably many offers, but zero offers that Chip likes.

  3. Those '09/10 Jets teams made the playoffs because they were balanced. They had Brian Schottenheimer implementing a run-heavy system with multiple schemes and Thomas Jones/Ladanian Tomlinson.

After that, their RB talent went downhill, Schottenheimer left after 2011 and they weren't a balanced team anymore.

I wouldn't worry about the defense. As long as our offense can sustain drives and protect the football, the ppg allowed won't be an issue. We'll be balanced and win games.

  4. EJ beating out competition

If Bills’ third year quarterback EJ Manuel wants to win the starting position he will have to beat out Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor and Matt Simms.

    Manuel might just do that.

According to NJ.com, Manuel rotated into the first-team offense during OTAs with Cassel and he looked sharper than his veteran counterpart. Manuel did most of his damage in the middle of the field and on intermediate routes, but he seemed a bit more confident going through his progressions than Cassel.

Good news. At least, he's getting the offense.

  5.

No. Then a thief can go in with a hanger or something. Probably in the design like that, that's what the manual release is for. A little too late to study your vehicle when you are knee deep into a situation. That really should happen the first week you own it.

    Light bulb moment:

"Oh, what's that little thing on the floor for?"

Unless he's been watching too much Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd:

How fitting... "Never push the wed button!"

Most all when in the locked position are flush with the door.

    Guys...just use your imagination.

  6. Don't disagree with any of this, but the bolded is what concerns me. We do need "pretty good" QB play and the 2 linked articles suggest that we aren't going to have that. Hence my concern.

The other side of that same coin, though, is that it is still very early. We all know that.

I would like to see one of the QBs emerge as "the guy" in the next couple of months. Someone we can point to and rest our hopes on as being pretty competent at the position. I don't see that guy, at the moment.

I see a competent OC and that gives me hope.

  7. i believe the answer is simply -- you give a bunch of nfl players a chance to vote and they will vote for friends, guys they are familiar with, and a bunch of random stuff. depending on the scoring system and how close guys are - 25 through 50 could be pretty arbitrary year to year.

Exactly. People shouldn't expect a whole lot of continuity in this.

If you're in, you're in. Congratulations.

  8. Are there genuine collegiate QB talents that can be had in the next draft if we did take that top 10 shot?

Or are we just speaking philosophically here?

IMO, yes. We hear every year that "next year will be great!"

I've never been like that, but I actually believe it this year. In Cook, Hackenburg, Kiel and Goff, I see real potential. Of course, we still have to see how they develop this year, but if we were drafting right now: Cook and Hackenburg in top 10. Kiel or Goff at the end of round 1.
