Johnson is right about one thing: more money alone will not fix the problem. We do need fixes in the immigration/asylum laws and procedures. But I fear you are right about there being more interest on the Republican side at keeping the issue alive by refusing to hammer out a compromise that actually helps us deal with the fact of massive/organized illegal immigration.

I don't think you need to be a conspiracy type to believe this. The courts opened up fantasy betting as legal, and Fan Duel and Draft Kings completed like hell to grab market share in anticipation of all sports gambling being legalized.

Texas DAs previously prosecuted illegal entrants for trespass. Someone owns the land - public or private - and yes, illegal entrants were trespassing. So that wasn't a problem. There's no general federal "trespass" law, unless it's occurring on federal land. But the new Texas law - or at least the important parts of it - is clearly unconstitutional, as established by U.S. v. Arizona. Charging someone with illegal entry into the United States, and particularly detaining and deporting illegal entrants is a purely federal authority. There's gray areas, like transporting or harboring illegal entrants on state roads, etc. I think those are part of Florida's laws, and I think they would pass the constitutional test. But arresting/deporting for illegal entry? No.

As far as supply: OPEC has implemented new supply restrictions, but even that isn't moving the price. Non sequitur. Yes, I am arguing that the president doesn't have anything (or at most a tiny thing) to do with the price of gas. And that the price of gas plummeted during COVID as the economy shut down. And that the price of gas spiked during the post-COVID inflationary period. And that the price of gas has now fallen as inflation is coming under control.

Look, the whole topic is about inflation under the Biden Administration. The last "normal" economic measure, pre-Biden Administration, was January or February 2020. If we were to look at April/May 2020 we'd see really cheap gas because a huge percentage of the economy was shut down, so that wouldn't tell us anything.

Again. The thread is about prices TODAY. Not predictions about prices in the future. Not comments about the general level of industrial productivity. Not a historical analysis of gas prices. Today. Today = cheap. Deal with it.

No, it isn't! Gas prices are down about 50 cents a gallon since early November. Inflation adjusted, gas is cheap. Again. Drill, drill, drill. Whatever. Cheap. Enjoy it. Stop whining!

Well that's just silly. They made it through the playoffs and into the Super Bowl twice. Wilson performed very well overall in both, one a laugher win and one where they were 4th and goal at the 1 with time expiring. I guess Terry Bradshaw should give back his rings because his defenses were dominant.

Umm, they won 43-8. Russ went 18-25, 206 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 123.8 passer rating. Yes, the defense largely won it. But you might as well criticize Josh Allen for throwing for under 100 yards in our stomping of the Cowboys a couple weeks ago ... It was a stupid play. But it came close to winning a Super Bowl. I saw no defense of her comments, just her tepid attempted damage control "correction" that of course the Civil War was about slavery, and it was also about what system of governance we will have. This is the Democratic version of "what is a woman?" "What caused the Civil War?" apparently scares them to death. Both of these say a lot about their respective parties and how they've been taken over by what used to be their radical fringes.

Got it. And I agree. Payton never got over Russell Wilson giving up 70 points earlier this season. That's what I don't get about Payton, or why the Walmart guy hired him. What is the plan? And they don't have the draft capital to get their Allen, even though this looks like a pretty good QB draft class. So ... I have no idea where they're going. Payton is no kid and I assume he doesn't have a Four Year Plan, but it's hard to see the Broncos fielding a good team before 2025 at the earliest, probably 2026 more realistically, when Payton is 62 years old. Oh, and Happy 60th Birthday (tomorrow), Sean Payton. The more I see of you, the less I like.

Belichick saw no reason to hang onto Stidham. Neither did Josh McDaniels, preferring to bring back Jimmy G. even though Stidham performed decently in last year's 2-game "audition." I don't think he's horrible, but I do think he's a Kyle Allen at best.
