  1. Obama Warns Ukraine of ‘Consequences’ for Bloody Crackdown on Protesters -- You can hear the Ukrainians laughing at that over here on the East Coast.
  2. Being an environmental scientist in NC- your article rings true. The anti-science Republicans have taken revenge on 100 years of democratic dominance in NC. Their mantra is Jobs Jobs Jobs-- period. No matter what the cost to the environment - jobs at any cost. All of the regulations regarding fracking, off shore drilling and toxic remediation have been gutted. Professional and responsible state regulators fear for their jobs- politics trumps science. The damage being done by this truly feckless administration will be paid for by decades of contaminated water, air and soil. Such a beautiful State has been thrown to the Wolves of Wallstreet.
  3. Sorry about their luck but better safe than sorry I mean dead.
  4. Companies are not supposed to treat the American flag like the golden arches; it is not a logo to be used to sell merchandise. It is especially offensive when they imply that you are supporting a patriotic cause by purchasing a t-shirt or beach towel flag, then they will actually be spending the money at a garment factory sweatshop in Indonesia.
  5. Everyone still believes the official government conspiracy: that on the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 men armed with box cutters directed by a man on dialysis in a cave fortress halfway around the world using a satellite phone and a laptop directed the most sophisticated penetration of the most heavily-defended airspace in the world, overpowering the passengers and the military combat-trained pilots on 4 commercial aircraft before flying those planes wildly off course for over an hour without being molested by a single fighter interceptor.
  6. In the early 80's, I went skiing in Germany while I was stationed there. Halfway down, I wiped out. After I collected up skis and poles (and wits), I realized my sunglasses were gone. Shrugged, finished that run, went back up and wiped out again in the same spot. This time, when I dug the snow from my eyes, the first thing I saw was my sunglasses half-buried in the snow from my previous wipeout. I still chuckle when I think about it.
  7. He is sharp as a tack and lightning quick. He couldn't play that well if he weren't. I am proud of the fact that I knew a few that he did not, but most of the time he hits the answer before I can get my brain in gear.
  8. It's fascinating to see the whole fuselage buckle as the nose touches down.
  9. OK - But if he tours Canada, and starts covering Justin Bieber, he can stay there!
