Only Bills fans think they can replace a #1 corner with Darby or a draft pick. -

Bills opened at 80/1 to win the Superbowl. Current odds are now 100/1. Only 4 NFL teams are rated lower. http://www.thespread.com/odds-managernfl-football-futures Browns, 49ers, Jets, Rams -
No Gilmore, No Woods, No Brown, No Chance

Except for the fact the Sean McDermott's defense finished below Rex's last year in yards AND points. Leslie Frazier who will be calling the plays recently had TWO different football teams floating around bottom 3 for defense. Rex has NEVER had defenses as bad as Frazier's last two stops. Anthony Lynn was calling plays on offense but he got a head coaching job and our new offensive coordinator was the third choice on McD's list after his first two choices turned him down. -

Vegas has Buffalo as a bottom 5 team. So 5 and 11 sounds right. -
One thing is for certain, if McDermott ties his coaching career to Tyrod he will join a long line of failed Bills coaches.

Tech QB Mahomes stays busy and other visit notes … We note in an earlier post that Texas Tech Patrick Mahomes, who has visits or workouts planned with 18 teams prior to the draft, may be the ‘most interesting man’ in the draft. In fact, the legend of Mahomes, or at least his itinerary, continues to grow. The latest team to add their name to Mahomes’ dance card in Buffalo which will reportedly work him out later this week. The Bills, who have the 10th pick this year, did extend incumbent starter Tyrod Taylor earlier this year, but did little to hide the fact that they really wanted to upgrade the position prior to the extension. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh has also reportedly scheduled a work out with Mahomes. Like a lot of teams around the league, the Steelers may have to start to think about finding a future replacement for aging veteran Ben Roethlisberger who reportedly considered retiring this off-season. However, the Steelers, who have the 30th pick this year, may not have much a shot at Mahomes as there is a growing buzz around the league that he is closing in on a possible top ten grade. http://gbnreport.com/

You don't need a cannon. But if you don't have an NFL starter caliber arm you will be sitting on the bench. There are NFL throws where if the ball doesn't get delivered with velocity (such as a 15-20 yard out) NFL corners will jump the route. Arm strength needs to be at an NFL level. And of course there are other things to measure. Release time is also critical. A slow release time would make a QB no draft for me.
-
I see a chance for success. That involves getting an elite QB. Then McDermott will be good enough.
-
Carr had the best arm of his draft class. Eli and Peyton had good NFL arms. Peyton Manning did not throw a flutter ball until his a zillion surgeries and then he was out of the league.
-
Fine, what has inspired you about Sean McDermott? I will shut up and listen.
-
How many QB's became much better after being in the NFL for 7 years? Gannon? It's like a one in 1,000 thing.
-
That's apples and oranges comparison.
-
Yes, truly remarkable. My cousin went to Michigan and said Brady has to be doing HGH. No other explanation. If the Bills have a plan to do that then sure, let's get him in here.
-
I doubt it was as far as the combine because they wanted to make Tommy look good. But point still stands that Brady doesn't have a noodle arm.
-
I want success. The problem is the Pegulas have no idea how to run a hockey or football team. They are currently batting 0-6 in coaching hires and could soon go to 0-8 if Bylsma and Murray are fired.
-
That's the problem with subjective views of arm strength. Fans will say but what about Brady or Warner. The problem is both have good arm strength. Here is Warner's original scouting report. http://www.foxsports.com/midwest/story/throwback-thursday-the-one-and-only-kurt-warner-pre-draft-scouting-report-051415 Tom Brady has also been clocked throwing a football and it was not 49 MPH. 61 MPH crossing patterns

The Tyrod Taylor extension was a huge red flag. The hiring of Leslie Frazier as defensive coordinator was a second red flag. If McDermott is the one making calls in the draft room and we have a Dick Jauron filling in holes draft class I will be convinced that McDermott is the wrong coach.
-
I don't think you would ruin a Trubisky or Mahomes, just slow down his development. My fear is that McDermott is more focused on the today and not worried about tomorrow. That is how most coaches operate and we need someone to rein that in.
-
The offense will be designed around Tyrod. That offense will not be the best one for developing a pocket passer behind him.

If I was an NFL coach and loved the tape as much as you I wouldn't take Watson off my board but I would look into the way he throws the ball and see if there is reason for it.
-
I was told about Watson's throwing issues before I even saw the combine numbers. My source told me he throws a fluttering ball. That is a huge red flag and the combine MPH only confirms what I was told. Paul Hamilton of WGR watched Mahomes play a game on Youtube last night and now doesn't want to draft him. Trade up!!!!

The idea that Tyrod Taylor is a bargain is wrong. His salary cap number was kept low this year but the Bills owe him 18,000,000 next year. If we cut him we create dead cap. Terrible idea to saddle a team that needs to rebuild and replenish its roster with an expensive bridge QB. Not only that, if we draft a top QB they have to play in an offense designed around this limited BRIDGE QB. Just fantastic strategy. Let's ruin another QB because we our catering to Tyrod,

We have the sample data here. No one throwing the ball 53 and lower has been a franchise QB in the last decade. DeShaun Watson's ball velocity : 49 mph ... That number got me thinking , how many people in the NFL have succeeded with an arm like that , the answer none. From 2008 - 16 , every prospect with a ball velocity under 55 mph failed in the NFL , if you don't think its that big a problem : What does that mean , well , not one prospect with a ball speed like Watson's (in our sample data) has succeeded in the NFL. Its not like Watson makes up his speed with his accuracy or judgments those are considered his weak points, so basically he is done, finished. The only two prospects to throw under 55 mph and have any remote success have been Tyrod Taylor (50) and Dak (54) but they both had injured shoulders when it was measured. Obviously having a great arm like Logan Thomas (60) wont guarantee you success but anything below 55 mph , you are bound to fail . Other prospects this year you can scratch off the list are Kaaya and Peterman who both had a speed of 53 mph. http://www.ninersnation.com/2017/3/11/14893540/the-nail-in-the-coffin-for-watson

That's fine on short routes but there are throws that Watson won't be able to make that a Mahomes could. That's just a fact. The NFL is littered with smart QB's that dominated in college but didn't have ideal NFL arms. Those type of players make good backups. I see Watson, at best, as a low level starter.

Well, get ready to be surprised then.
