  1. Bradham is filling Kiko Alonso's spot .. that makes him a backup to me I thought Rivers looked very solid in the Bears game before he got hurt.. let's see how Bradham does in a live fire situation before we annoint him long term starter
  2. Say what you will about Whaley.. but trading Kelvin Sheppard for Jerry Hughes was a landslide victory for the Bills. Apparently Sheppard was recently signed by Miami as a street free agent this week.. the guy wasn't even on an NFL roster... and we got Hughes .. who gave us double digit sacks and who looked really solid rushing the edge against the Bears last week ( not so good against the run.. but.. nothing wrong with having specialists) http://www.miamiherald.com/2014/09/09/4338819/injuries-taking-a-toll-on-defense.html
  3. This article here seems pretty definitive regarding the Fins' lb injury status http://www.miamiherald.com/2014/09/09/4338819/injuries-taking-a-toll-on-defense.html On the other side of the coin.. We are technically down at least 1 and maybe 2 starting LBS ( Alonso and probably Rivers). I'm thinking our backups ( Bradham and Brown)should be groomed and prepared a bit more than the Fins' backup LBs based on the preseason action they saw...
  4. Looks like the Fins may be down to 3 backup linebackers this week.. and run stuffer Starks is Questionable. This lessens my anxiety tremendously...
  5. Lock em up now .. I agree. Wonder if they have enough cap room to do it during the season?
  6. Seems like best option to me.. run right at him as much as possible. I can see the screen game doing well to take advantage of Wake's aggresiveness.. Spiller will be key.
  7. Hopefully they can do some things scheme wise to somewhat slow him down. That should be the prime objective at One Bills Drive this week. Gotta get the running game going early ... can't let him tee off
  8. Henderson was OK at RT last week against the Bears ... I think he's in for a tough day Sunday with Wake coming in. What does everyone else think? From Pro Football Focus... Cameron Wake had the top overall performance in the league last week. This is pretty scary. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/09/10/top-10-performances-week-1 1. Cameron Wake, DE (MIA) +7.7 Simply destroyed one of the best right tackles around in Sebastian Vollmer on the way to seven Tom Brady disruptions including two strip-sacks.
  9. I thought it was funny too... gotta give credit where credit is due Indeed it was... stuck it right back up their A%%%
  10. At least have him wave the flag under the scoreboard ( assuming they will still do that). .. ( Blues For Allah is an outstanding album BTW...)
  11. Hopefully this will end in a month or so (once Pegula is officially named owner).. but did anyone else notice that the Bears blasted "Living on A Prayer" on the PA after they scored their first TD?
  12. MY PREGAME IMPRESSIONS - I will be the first to admit that I thought Pears would really struggle this game. I thought he would be weak in the run game and do better in pass protect. Accordingly I went back to the tape to see what really happened. ___________ My grading is based on the following: - watching every snap of PEARS in NFL GAME Rewind WIN = Pears wins one on one battle / or clearly dominates opponent NEUTRAL = fights to a draw/ or double team help LOSS - Clearly loses one on one battle or appears to have been confused/ missed assignment _________________ WINS - 18 NEUTRAL - 27 LOSSES - 9 _______ CONCLUSION: Based on my math he was average or better 84% of the time... so he clearly wasn't dominated. Although he gave up zero sacks he had a few close calls and had some shaky moments in pass protect. In the run game he did a very good job of getting to the second level and at least got out to the edges on pulling/ screen plays ( which is to say he knew his assignment but he is a little awkward in open space) GRADE - B- ( PASS PROTECT: C+ / RUN GAME: B)

  14. Yeah.. Gilmore's naturally a physical player so the new rules could impact his game a lot. He was pretty rough last year when his wrist was bad and he couldn't jam guys.
  15. I agree... Cutler likes to do a lot of play action and that is gonna have Brown's head spinning. To my eye Brown has had a deer in the headlights look this preseason. Watch how quickly Spikes reacts to his keys.. and then watch how tentative Brown is. If he was quicker he might be able to make up for that inexperience.. but he looked pretty slow to me.
  16. Sure... he'll have 2 days to recuperate.. should be good to go
  17. Ahh.. well..no Peppers is a good thing. Thank you for clarifying.
  18. Chose this game as I wanted to see how Cutler and Co. attacked Schwartz's 43 D BEARS D - DT Stephen Paea is a stud... gonna be tough sledding running between the tackles. Pears and Williams better have their big boy pants on - The Lions did have some success attacking the middle of the Bears D throwing to TE's and big WRs .. this could be a weak spot for the Bills to exploit. EJ seems to be most comfortable and accurate throwing over the middle so I expect Chandler and Watkins to have good games. BEARS OFFENSE - Chicago runs 11 Personnel Group out of the pistol and the shotgun for the majority of snaps. Cutler likes to frequently use play action and fakes to the RBs before throwing. Preston Brown is going to have his head spinning and will most likely be paralyzed by these play fakes... hopefully the other guys can cover up for Brown's inexperience - Bears did not run very much in the first half, they relied more on the quick short passing game. Bills corners will need to tackle well to shut this down WEEK 1 PREDICTION - BEARS win 24-13. Based on what I saw watching this film and knowing that our guards are the weak point of the O-line, I think the Bears will shut down the Bills running game in this Week 1 matchup. It's going to be rough if this happens and EJ is forced to sling it.. I don't like our odds if Paea and Jarod Allen know we are in throw mode and they can bring the heat without worrying about the run.
  19. OG - both LG and RG QB - health, aggressiveness ( or lack thereof) CB - Gilmore has been a little shaky.. Leodis coming off injury
  20. Hopefully the new right side of the line gels in time... they certainly did not look good against the Bucs. This is a risky move in my opinion. To my eye Henderson and Pears both played well at their previous positions ( LT and RT) and they should have left well enough alone.. ie.. Pears at RT and Urbik at RG with Henderson as the swing tackle. Pro Football Focus has a similar take. https://www.profootb...eseason-week-3/ Erik Pears, RG, -4.2 Breakdown: The return of Cory Glenn (-1.2) saw a re-shuffle on the right side that didn’t go well for either Erik Pears or Seantrel Henderson (-2.4). This was a baptism of fire for Pears who struggled with the destructive pairing of McCoy and McDonald. Both as a run blocker (-2.3) and pass protector (-1.5) Pears struggled, surrendering stops, pressures and a hold in each phase of the game. Signature Stat: Both Pears and Henderson graded negatively after cumulative positive grades at LT (+2.8 for Henderson) and RT (+1.7 for Pears), respectively, in the first three preseason games. I also specifically watched Urbik the last few games and thought he looked fine at RG.Amazing to me that Pro Football Focus rated him as one of the best guards in the AFC East last year and now he is a backup? https://www.profootb...-afc-east-team/ Right Guard: Kraig Urbik, BUF Urbik continues to fly under the radar as one of the league’s solid guards. He ranked 21st overall at the position, including a +4.8 pass block grade that ranked 19th. He also came in eighth in Pass Blocking Efficiency at 97.3. Kudos to Henderson... and another verification of Urbik's talents. Urbik must have really done something to piss of Marrone or get on his bad side
  21. Richardson, Pears and Henderson all appeared to be out of sync/lost /confused for most of the first half. All three had moments where they showed they can physically handle their new positions.. however.. looks to me like they have a long way to go in learning their assignments/ learning to coordinate. Sounds like Marrone said he wants to stick with the lineup ..hopefully 2 weeks of practice is enough for them to learn their new roles before opening day. I'm a little scared that it's going to take more like half of the season.. and by then it may be too late to save the season
  22. What are the coaches seeing that I'm not seeing with Urbik. He must be practicing poorly or must have offended the coaching staff somehow because the game tape looks fine After reviewing the game tape from the exhibition games so far here are some observations PITT GAME: only beaten once.. bailed out by Woods on that play..however.. no sack or contact resulting. ( He and Woods double team a lot). Consistently got push in the run game and got to the second level a few times . Zero penalties. CAROLINA GAME: only played one or two series. Was not beaten once.. consistently got push in run game. Interesting that right after Cyril Richardson came in to replace Urbik.. Richardson he gave up an awful sack . Zero penalties. GIANTS GAME: beaten badly once, also allowed his man to bat down a pass. Zero penalties. This was his roughest outing.. however it was also the first outing and he looked good the next two games. Has anyone else watched the tape and maybe can point out what I'm missing? I'm thinking this shuffling and experimenting is not necessarily a reflection of Urbik as much as it is an attempt to get some looks at different guys in that RG spot. It'll be real interesting to see who starts at RG next game and you can bet I'll be watching closely
