James Kelly, former QB of the Buffalo Bills, would invite and hook up with barely legal girls at his house parties and would also pick up girls at bars and take them back to his house. He's a dirtbag. Read his wife's book "Without a Word."

I’m not defending the behavior. Cheating is bad. But the way you are judging him and just trying to make sure everyone knows that you are morally superior is gross. Just my opinion.

Lol. By all means take another opportunity to expand the gossip, Any other sordid details you’d care to get out there that you think you may have heard? Any other players or just anyone in general you want to judge publicly while you have the floor?

On the field, I think Josh is already a much better player. Kelly was never the top 2 guy in a league with Marino, Elway, Montana and then Young, Esiason, Moon, Aikman, etc. Kelly was maybe top 5 like perhaps a Joe Burrow is today. For the overall legacy, it will take time to build up that kind of resume but hopefully Josh is on his way to a HOF career of his own. Jim had a top 2-3 best defensive end of all time in Bruce Smith and a league MVP in Thurman Thomas. They also didn't have to deal with free agency back then. It was a well built team at every position and opponents didn't have much of an answer defensively for the K-gun offense at first. Watch the AFC championship game against the Raiders to see that offense at their peak and really clicking. It's an absolute shame they couldn't pull off that win in Super Bowl 25 because it was right there for the taking.

Off the field, it's no comparison. Kelly was a known jerk and a real piece of work. Apparently he's been humbled since but I have no time for a adulterating and arrogant pr*ck who pretended to be a Christian. I've heard too many stories of how he treated women back in the day and how his poor wife had to take it on the chin and yet stuck by him.

Jim's been an ambassador for Buffalo for many years so I have to give him credit for that, but I will be glad to see him turn that over to Josh. However the day his career is over, Josh will be on the first flight out of here and back to California so we will just have to enjoy the show while we can.

Is it really necessary to drag Jim Kelly’s name through the mud on an internet message board about gossip you heard from someone who heard from someone thirty years ago?

There is just no slowing down the Fins fan express around here, or the fair-weather Bills fan parade that this board has become.  Both the Fins and the Jets are about to come crashing back to earth, and all the breathless teenage girls around here gushing over their magnificense and bemoaning the Bills lack of winning in apparently the right way recently will be jumping back on the bandwagon soon enough.

I’ll go with history until our division opponents prove differently. The Patriots were in this position at the exact time last year. The better team eventually settled in and smacked them around late in the year to take the division again. I’m expecting the same when the Bills meet the fins at home in a few weeks.

I don’t really feel like going through everything else right now, but they didn’t panic.

It was 1st and 10. They called a timeout with 7 seconds left to give them another chance at a FG if there was a botched snap or anything of that nature. Actually a smart football move that you didn’t recognize.

If someone like say, Sean McVay did this, people would be licking his wee-wee.

I keep seeing this take on here. No it wasn't. The Bills had no timeouts left. There was no way to stop the clock if there was a botched snap. Calling the last timeout with 7 seconds left was not some brilliant 4D chess move by McD. It was a mistake, plain and simple. You don't leave time so the opponent has another chance there. I can't believe people actually think that may have been a move they made on purpose.

Does that mean I think McD is an awful coach? No. But he definitely made a mistake there. Just call it what it is and move on.

I don’t look at worst case scenarios to make my decision.  I look at the chance that these things will happen.  Much greater chance that we commit a penalty and our chance to kick the FG than they return the kick for a TD or hit a Hail Mary.

and when discussing this in your original post you stated that “we panicked” when making that decision……when they may have just seen things differently than you do.

    agree to disagree.

Much greater chance at a non presnap penalty? On a field goal? They never call holding on FG attempts. Name the last time you saw that happen. False start, Offside, running into kicker, or running into snapper is all the yellow that ever happens. You don't leave time for another play in that situation. It was a mistake by mcd or whoever called it. There's no chance they made a strategic decision to leave time and if they did, that's much worse than just having a brain fart.

I thought our time management was really bad at the end of the 1st half, and mildly bad at the end of the 2nd half.

We had 2 timeouts for this sequence at the end of the first half and didn't use one. Too much time came off the clock and really hurt out chances of getting a TD (at least we got a FG).

    1st & 10 at BUF 25

    (1:52 - 2nd) (Shotgun) J.Allen pass deep right to I.McKenzie to DET 48 for 27 yards (J.Jacobs).

    1st & 10 at DET 48

(1:24 - 2nd) (No Huddle, Shotgun) J.Allen pass incomplete deep right to S.Diggs. Ball thrown away.

    2nd & 10 at DET 48

    (1:20 - 2nd) (Shotgun) J.Allen scrambles up the middle to DET 43 for 5 yards (C.Board).

    3rd & 5 at DET 43

    (0:52 - 2nd) (No Huddle, Shotgun) J.Allen pass short right to S.Diggs to DET 36 for 7 yards (A.Anzalone).

    1st & 10 at DET 36

(0:32 - 2nd) (No Huddle, Shotgun) J.Allen pass incomplete deep right. ball thrown away.

In the 2nd half we panicked after the last play and took the timeout with 7 seconds remaining. We should have waited for ~3 seconds so the FG attempt is the last play of the game. Sure, the odds aren't great that the Lions would score on a kickoff return, but it's not 0% (like it would be if we had waited on the TO).

Calling the timeout with 7 seconds remaining was absurd. There is no excuse for that. It didn't end up costing them, but that is basic clock management for a head coach. You don't leave time for another play there, ever.

Do we know that McD called it? Or is it possible there was another hyped up player who took it upon themselves to call TO like Diggs did after his catch on that drive. If so... that's a problem too. Players should know the coach is responsible for the clock and trust that he'll make the right decision.

    Ticketing is a dirty business.

And we both know that most of these Buffalo Bills STH who get these discounted tickets are going to be RAKING IN THE DOUGH.

It's a huge machine.  Consumers f*ck each other over every bit as much as artists and TicketMaster f*cks consumers over.

    Sad.

Maybe. It's awful close to gametime to try and buy tickets and then flip them for two teams playing in a neutral site location. They might get caught bagholding on that scalp job.

6 ticket limit for season ticket holders in the presale

Season ticket holders start at 2p, Bills App users can start at 5p.  General public tomorrow at noon.  This means that the Bills fans will have first dibs before Cleveland fans.  Lets fill it up!

In that interest, if any of you fine season ticket holders don't need your special presale link, let me know! We'll put blue in seats!

Looks like Detroit isn't the only option being looked at (thanks for the tip, @Mike in Horseheads😞

One problem with moving the game to Detroit is that the Bills would lose their home-field advantage against the Browns as Cleveland is only a 2.5 hour drive from Detroit.

On the other hand though, the Bills would get a slight benefit because they wouldn't have to travel for their Thanksgiving game.

According to Cleveland.com, the NFL is also considering several other locations for the game (Stadiums in Philadelphia, Washington and Carolina are all available if the league doesn't want to move Bills-Browns so close to Cleveland).

Teams, are going to have bad days, and today was a terrible day, so the loss doesn't devastate me as m7ch as the way Josh Allen has played over the last game and a half.

He seems lost, like rookie season loss. He's rarely hitting his bckfoot and letting it rip, which indicates he's either not see the field well or he's lacking confidence to just let it rip.

This post is to ask does anyone on this board have any insight into Allen's waning mental confidence. I remember earlier in his career himtakjing about actually sitting down with some type of psychologist orcoach who helped him with his confidence and how important that is to QBing. I believe he first mentioned it in the offseason after the Houston playoff loss.

Today it just looked like he had 0 confidence in himself and he looked he was in his head all day.  Really concerning that a major case of mental yips might be entering the picture right at the sane time he'll be dealing with an elbow injury.

It's my belief that Allen sometimes deals with some type of mental panic attacks (see his interview on Bussin with the Boys), where he needs to take a break mid interview and actually exits the bus before coming back to finish up from this past offseason.  I think things can go sideways fast with Allen when things go south, and it's a problem

How drunk were you when you wrote this?

I keep coming back to the fact that Allen said he didn’t do anything but rest and recover this offseason.

With the benefit of hindsight, Allen hasn’t just had two bad games. He’s certainly looked bad. The guy recently reinvented and retooled his natural throwing motion. Not hugely surprising the whole system looks wonky midway through the season.

I know in my sport it would take years to make the smallest adjustments permanent and applicable under both physical and mental pressure. I couldn’t imagine not doing anything to reinforce that between world championship seasons.

This is the funniest thing I’ve read on TBD in a long time

Feels like this would create a further mercenary style league. NFL is built $ from stars on their teams. I wouldn’t like mad player shuffle as teams enter playoffs.

Agree with this. NFL doesn't need to turn into the NBA any more than it already has. I don't understand how anyone can even stick with a team in the NBA at this point. The jersey the players are wearing means nothing.

  14. I completely agree with your take, OP. He's a fantastic pass coverage LB. One thing that's hard to quantify is how many passes never get thrown over the middle by opposing teams because he's in good position to make a play (and also just a huge human being). He plays his pass coverage assignment really well and makes a big difference in the middle. Considering you have to pass to win in this league, especially in the playoffs, that's the most important attribute for his role in the Bills defense.

He is very good sideline to sideline as you pointed out, but he also often over pursuses on offtackle runs and gets washed out of the play too easily. You're also correct that he doesn't fill the gap and stuff RBs like a Ray Lewis or a Roquan Smith. He's gotten a lot better vs. the run though and has great hustle. Overall, he's a huge asset for us because of his pass coverage skills. Not every player is going to be great at everything, but overall he's very good for us.

  15. I think a lot of fans have unrealistic expectations. Anything less than an absolutely perfect performance in all phases is overly dissected and debated. All great teams have bad drives, quarters, halves, and even whole games. Great teams even (gasp) LOSE on occasion. The talent parity in the NFL is so close from top to bottom. The Bills are one of the best teams in the league, but they can make mistakes and be beat.

The obsession with "power ranking" the league by both fans and the media after every single week has gotten really tiresome at this point. We have a great team... just sit back and enjoy the ride!

One thing I'm surprised haven't seen /read more about either in articles, TV or even posts here (one article mentioned  it) Ramsey calling Allen trash in 2018.

Have to wonder if that is still on Allen's mind and his goal is to just make Ramsey's like living hell every time he takes the field against him.  Articles about Ramsey having a perfect QB rating against him is pretty rare.

    I’d say that’s a safe bet

We have literally no clue how he is being graded. He's throwing timing routes to spots on the field. They had backup receivers against the colts starting dbs.

Really good chance the bills receivers couldn't get off press and hit their spots in time and Keenum was making anticipation throws to the right spot, at the right time based on his reads. Or he was forced to hold it longer because guys were not hitting their markers and the pocket would collapse or the window would be gone.

He is not Josh Allen who can excel in that situation playing outside of the system, but does not mean he cannot be highly effective within the system. Basing his value with a third string OL and basically a ST only receiver playing in the #2 spot. He looked pretty good throwing to Shakir, who I would think was the only starting WR getting consistent separation early in the game and hitting his routes, though will wait for people to analyze the all-22.

Really want to see what Hodgins looks like against #1 cbs...his release off the line on that deep catch was twitchy as heck!

Possibly true to an extent, but him overthrowing high several times (a few of which resulted in picks) was not the result of him throwing a timing route that the receiver was not in position for. That's just a miss on the QB. And he threw high numerous times... badly.

I’m surprised at all the people who want him gone. He made some incredible catches and moves for first downs to keep the chains moving in some important spots.

Yes, in 2021. I think he showed his age quite a bit in 2022. He wasn't getting open like he used to. I like the guy, but I'm not convinced he's the same asset he was for Josh when he first arrived. At his price, I think the Bills can better use the money elsewhere.
