What should they prioritize?
Wide receiver. The same thing they should have the last two offseasons.

Round 4? At what point do we actually use a high pick on a quality WR?
Xavier Legette IS a WR.

They were horrible, yes. Unfortunately, I fully expect that Beane and McDermott will overreact to it and heavily prioritize defense again this offseason, with the same futile results.

Xavier Legette, Wide Receiver, South Carolina
But I'd definitely live with this outcome too.
Xavier Legette would be my selection as well. With Shakir stepping up, you may as well swing for the fences at 28. Then take another one no later than R4.

Agreed, but after the second half of this season, I would not restructure Diggs' contract unless I had no choice. I'd also be adding Von Miller to the list of players to release, though they'd probably need to do it after June 1st. But yes, it's time to cull the declining players and dead weight.

All else being equal, I'd definitely select a WR at 28, and depending on how it plays out, I might select another one in R2.

Should they? Probably.
Will they? No.

They can eat that contract if they need to, but there may be an injury issue or something we don't know about. They also need to cull a lot of dead weight that's more of a problem, both on the field and in terms of cap impact, than the kicker. If they think they can fix Bass, I'm fine with giving him another chance.
-
No, I am not upset about it. I knew this team probably didn't have the firepower offensively to win it all, anyway. Add in all of the defensive injuries and their chances were that much worse.
-
I wouldn't say that it's all due to the failure to acquire one particular player, but yes, the front office deserves considerable blame for not adequately addressing the WR position the last two seasons.

That throw in the dirt ahead of wiiiiiide open shakirs feet with the game on the line was so elite
That tends to happen when the QB gets hit during the throw.

They'd be whining if Allen had passed up that wide open throw to Shakir in the back of the endzone, too, if the Bills lost the game anyway.
Allen played well. Shakir did as well and I can't blame Allen for looking in that direction when the game was on the line. He was the only WR they could count on today.

WR WR with first two picks next year please and thank you.
If there was ever a year to do it, this is it.

It's the near total ineffectiveness of the 'other' outside WR opposite Diggs.
-
Can they activate Zach Davidson for next week? He has experience as a punter in college. Might be a backup option if Martin can't play next week.

If he's more consistent and cuts down on the mistakes, I think he could be. Davis is more talented, but it seems like an unusually high percentage of bad plays happen on passes in his direction, including two more last night. Maybe it's not all his fault, but at the same time, it's not working.

Shakir
Allen
Kincaid
Harty
Sherfield
Knox
The entire defense

The 2nd Int was 💯 Gabe's fault stumbling over his uncoordinated feet. The first Int shouldn't even have happened if the blatant DPI is called on Knox. Josh's biggest mistake was his no trajectory over throw to Diggs. Diggs should've had an easy 89 yd td there. Josh regrouped and became the cyborg we're used to.
I think that 2nd one was very likely going to be intercepted even if Davis hadn't tripped over himself. I also don't care. It was 4th down. The interception was better than an incompletion or a sack.

When over HALF of a players INT’s are when targeting one particular reason, do you think there may be a correlation?
Thats not just there. It’s last year too.
Gabe and Allen are simply not on the same page far too often. Our offense looked better when he left the game.
Yes, and as I replied to you in the game thread, at some point, you have to consider that maybe it's not just a coincidence.
And I also agree that the offense looked better when he was out. Davis may have more talent than Sherfield and Shakir, but those guys are more reliable and consistent. I've been pretty negative on Sherfield, but after this game, maybe he needs more of a chance.

I swear he has looked steady all game. The score on the board does not reflect his play. It is an unfortunate INT on a miscommunication, a dropped TD pass combined with a bizarre set of routes on 3rd down, Torrence getting blown up off the snap. We would blowing the Dolphins out if not for mistakes at the worst possible times.
I completely agree with that. He's actually throwing the ball really well tonight.

When did Josh go from being the best against the blitz to hot garbage now!! What has happend?
It happened when John Brown, Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders turned into Gabe Davis, Trent Sherfield and Dionte Harty.

Well, that makes it plain enough, doesn't it?
Watching it live, I was surprised Johnson's momentum didn't carry him into the endzone. Credit to the defender for a great tackle.

It was an option route for the WR and it only works when the QB and WR are on the same page.
They weren’t.
Should Josh have turfed it? You can make that case if you want, but there is reason why more than half of Allen’s INT’s are to Gabe.
When a disproportionate number of bad plays are happening on throws to one guy, at some point, it's not a coincidence.

Bills Draft Rd 1 - Pick 28

Realistically, I don't think it's an option. It would be exorbitantly expensive to move up from 28 to the top 3.
