  1. I’m really sorry for your loss.  Its tragic.   I’m welling up, because I’ve had similar thoughts during Bills games, especially recently.

For so many of us, the Bills truly are more than a football team. They represent our family.  They truly need to win it all ..soon.  Because there’s a lot of us with life long Bills fan, family members that may not be able to say there’s always next season.   For alot of us the number of next seasons is dwindling.

I wish you and your family wellnes and peace Daggers...   and to all our friends here, may we all rejoice soon after a lifetime of hoping.

    I actually really like Singletary.

His ability to shake a defender in a phone booth is elite. Like if it's a linebacker or safety with a perfect angle, meeting him one-on-one, Singletary almost always shakes him and gains more yards. He also has a tremendous work ethic and fits in great in the locker room.

That said, he'll continue to see meaningful work throughout the playoffs, obviously. But after that? Well...The main reasons I don't want to re-sign him are:

1.) I don't ever believe in giving out second contracts to running backs UNLESS they're either elite, game changing talents (Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook) or meaningful passing game assets (CMC, Kamara).

2.) With James Cook and Nyheim Hines, the Bills will already possess a pretty fast, scary duo that can both also contribute in the passing game.

3.) Too many more pressing needs elsewhere to spend what limited cap space the Bills will have on.

If Singletary will come back at a very reasonable and team friendly deal, then MAYBE, but even then....it's probably better business to just draft a late round guy to replace him.

Completely agree.   I fear our cap situation is going to force a couple of really good players’ departure.

Yeah, I agree that he'll never be a workhorse guy. I don't think this coaching staff wants that anyway.

I'd be happy with at least a 60/40 split, though, with the key being that Cook's in the lineup for more of the "gotta have it" moments and gets more passing work.

Basically, in my opinion, Singletary should be spelling Cook and keeping him fresh and taking neutral situation, early down work, not splitting carries evenly with him.

As much as I love Singletary's attitude and I think he's a pretty good back...the combination of Cook's emergence, the presence of Hines on the roster, and the other roster needs being much more pressing this offseason, I don't think they should sign Singletary to a second contract. I think they can replicate his production with a late round pick, and that Cook/Hines could be a pretty formidable 1/2 punch anyway.

I’m not saying I completely disagree with most of these thoughts.   However, I do think Singletary is grossly undervalued and under appreciated by most fans for some reason.   He doesn’t have the breakaway speed to take it to the  house on any play, but he almost always makes more yards, than the play seems allowable with our line.

Only having to win 2 games instead of 3 is a big difference.

Given that the Bills were the ones in the driver's seat for the #1 seed going into that game, I think the option of homefield or the bye should've been given to the Bills.

The Bills controlled their own Destiny and have never lost since.

But we didn't cancel the game, the league did.  For us to have lost the #1 seed, we should've been made to forfeit. At least then it was the Bills' decision.

For the league to both cancel the game and then give KC the bye is a foul, IMO.

Do you think the league didn’t ask the Bills and Bengals if they wanted to play that game?     If the Bills wanted to play it, I’m certain it would not have been canceled.

I think it would be rough for the Bills to go back to that stadium again and I'm glad we aren't this season.

That was the only reason I really wanted us to win yesterday.  The idea of going back to cinci in 2 weeks was not a pleasant thought.

I understand there really was no 100% correct answer to this messy playoff seeding, but I don't like it.  The Bills were in the driver's seat and were the only team that controlled their own destiny.  Through no fault of their own, the league giftwraps KC the bye.  That still doesn't sit well with me.

True.  But everyone with this sentiment just needs to get over It. We played one less game. Yeah, the circumstances were terrible, but no one wanted to finish that game, and cramming it in was senseless. We lost control of our own destiny when we cancelled that game.   It sucks, but thats the way it goes.

We still ended up #2 and don’t play in Cinci or KC again this year. Considering the circumstances, I think we came out as well as can be expected.

Had the Bengals forced the isseue, i would have been in favor of forfeiting the game all together and settle for the 3seed.  Luckily they acted with class and care.

  6. I don’t know if its a lingering ankle issue causing him to lose concentration or just a mental issue.  But Davis needs a sports psychologist as much as anything to help him get back to where he was.

I hope Beasely is ready for a full load, because Diggs needs someone else out there for the defenses to think about.

    Fun I’ll go:

    Sat 4: LAC at JAX

    Sat 8: BLT at CIN

    Sun 1: NYG at MIN

    Sun 4: MIA at BUF

    Sun 8: GB at SF

    MNF: DAL at TB

if GB loses I think it’ll be:

    Sat 4: LAC at JAX

    Sat 8: BLT at CIN

    Sun 1: NYG at MIN

    Sun 4: SEA at SF

    Sun 8: MIA at BUF

    MNF: DAL at TB

That’s actually not true. Last year they didn’t do that

    Is that an NFL rule?

Thought they did that for the tv networks?   I may be wrong.

  8. One thing about the Bills win, like so many games this season; they didnt look good the whole game. But the Bills never stop, they just keep going, keep playing and keep scoring.   So what seems like a close game... in the end is a 2 score win.    That’s what good teams do.  They understand its a 60 minute game, not just a 1 quarter game.

    I love this team.

All that mattered today was the W. They battled.

To expect a precision performance after the week they went through was far fetched.

In all seriousness, when was the last week that we could say was a “normal” week?   They’ve won 13 games and are the #2 seed, despite all the adversity.. all season long.   It’s just astounding and hands down McD has to be coach of the year.

Great win. Great team. Great season.  Let’s keep it going one more week!

I have an unusual calmness over this game.

    I have no idea why.

As do I.   Perhaps partly because after the events of the week, this game seems pretty small.  Perhaps partly because we’re in the playoffs amd playing next week regardless of the outcome.   Perhaps partly becauae we’re playing an average team, at best.

(I know being the 2 seed is better.)

This whole thing will cause consternation among NFL fans in the AFC who were playoff affected and the farther we get from the incident I think the more hate from other fanbases the Bills will receive.

I feel McDermott did the right thing when he said he should not continue coaching the game. I also think over time this will be seen as him forfeiting the game and taking a loss.

Did you just wake up in a bad mood today?   Not get enough coffee?

Bills/Bengals should be played. Alas here we are.

Rather than a structural change, they offered case-by-case solutions. I mean, I guess that was one way of approaching it.

It’s best to allow this weekend’s games to play out and then revisit this silliness on Sunday night.

I don’t know that it had to be played, but they did need to determine a “winner” for the playoff ramifications.  Hence a simple coin flip or use win percentage, as many suggested was already the plan during 2020.

i can’t see the logic in the current proposed and being discussed group of convoluted scenarios.  Would a coin flip be the most fair solution for the Bills and Bengals? Maybe not, but it was their decisions not to play the game ...a decision I 100% support.. that lead to the “coin flip” result.

I actually think it makes a ton of sense after parsing it all out.  I'm impressed even.  It does the least amount of damage possible.  I think the only messy bit is if Baltimore beats Cincinnati and they happen to meet again in the playoffs.  Having home-field advantage come down to a coin toss won't feel great.  I bet the NFL is praying this situation doesn't happen.

    If you say so.  LOL.

It's a pretty ridiculous solution. But after this weekend a lot will be cleared up and back to normal. Assuming Bengals win really the only change going into the playoffs would be if KC and Buf meet it will be at a neutral site.

Thanks.  Thats kinda where I’m at with it.   Just play the games this weekend then we’ll see how it all sorts out Sunday night.   In the meantime, just keepin praying for Hamlin and the team to keep getting better.

In some respects, if the Bills and Bengals are not forced to finish this game, haven't they received a "soft-bye week".

    They played an 1/8 game.

In all respects, it was way worse than a “normal” week and not even close to a bye.  I’d imagine the players and staff feel mentally, emotionally, and physically drained.     What they’ve gone through is the the type of stuff that ages you... not rests you.

If the Chiefs lose and the Bills win, the Bills are the Number One seed. You can’t let the games play out?

My point is... you determine that mechanism (no contest bengals game; win percentage to determine seeding - latest idea floated).   Announce it.  Then let play the games this weekend and let it the seedings fall where it may.

You don’t play the games first.. then announce the plan... which basically means the league has all the data and picks the seeding or is perceived that way.

#1 seed should be a goal every season.

It is ..A.. goal.  But its not ..THE.. goal.   we can still accomplish the ultimate goal without the #1 seed.   There was a fairly dramatic event on Monday that made the #1 seed far less important..and difficult to ensure without replaying the Bengals game.

My point here is that too many people seem supremely focused on how we can get the #1 seed, and all I’m saying is that would be nice, but its not mandatory and given whats happened, I think the team isn’t as focused on that as some here are.

  17. 2 thoughts:
    1.  The league should announce the plan for handling all this today or tomorrow.  They can’t wait till after the during or after the weekend. Because then they’re introducing perceived bias.   At least this way the teams have “some” control over the outcome by winning or losing.

    2. The number 1 seed isn’t the end all be all.  The 1 seed isn’t the goal. So people need to get over it.  Whatever scenario the league comes up with, the Bills will likely lose the 1 seed. The only way to guarantee we keep it is to play the Bengals and Pats and win both. And the team doesn’t want to play the Bengals yet.  So get over it.

You agree by doing this and giving KC 14-3 vs Buf 13-3 win percentage.. KC gets home field through Playoffs correct?

I agree with whatever the league and teams decide here for seeding.

Trying to play/finish the Bengals game is just not a good idea.   Just figure some way to seed the teams thats agreed upon and let it work itself out from there.   This isn’t about the Bills getting the 1 seed, its about finding a way to move forward that’s fair and doesn’t cause the Bills players any more pain than they already have.

i think the nfl is running around crazy now to figure out something to do on like thursday night to do a media event of a coin flip or prime time announcement.

they are too big on seeking attention and marketing to just release a statement.

Agreed.    And at the same time... waiting to see what unfolds with Damar.  If they said anything now, its rushed and callous.   The league protects the shield.
