  1. Just here to say… I’m officially on the get a new OC bandwagon.  This is the second year in a row… we came out of the gates looking unstoppable. Only to hit a big slump in the middle of the season. Defenses are jumping routes, shutting down the run, and playing half a step ahead of our offense.  And Dorsey has no adjustments to make.

Add in the obligatory defensive meltdown at just the right times… and here we are.

Struggling to look competent.  All too often the team looks unfocused, slow, and just out of sync on offense.  The defense is good, but one player misses a tackle and they give up 30 yard runs when they need 1 stop.

NE is going to pound the ball all game up the middle against us.  Lets see if we can stop it.

That’s what I would think. And then when Poyer and Hyde move up… the quick screens are open.

I wouldn’t think the Pats stand a chance, but the middle of the D is decimated with both starting DTs and one of the better LBs in the league out. That is far less than an ideal situation.

It would really be nice if the offense showed up this week and scored early and often.

Allen runs are going to hit defenses a lot different when they start cropping up in big games and in January, after not being on tape all year.

Exactly my thinking.  Josh running will be far more effective when done sparingly, and in the right situation.  For this week, however, I want him just not getting hit!

I don’t have the time nor desire to look up each poster’s history, but in general, it seems half the board was consistently screaming for Josh to stop running and we needed a balanced offense.   Now… Dorsey is trying to do just that and half the board is screaming…set Josh free and let him run!    I just wonder is it the same posters flip flopping? Or did the one half quiet down and now the other half is vocal?

I disagree with some here.  Our QB has a shoulder injury. An AC joint sprain (severity unknown).  Anthony Richardson is in a sling and may have shoulder surgery due to a grade 3 AC joint sprain in right shoulder.  This is not the game I want Allen running up the middle and absorbing contact.  This is a game i'd try to dominate the tranches and run more.  Have him under center, some quick short passes and play action.  Yes, running more might mean the game stays close longer, but Josh needs an easy week on the shoulder.  I have faith the D will force a takeway or two.  They didn't last game and will be due.

I’m gonna have to agree with you.   With a sore throwing shoulder, you really want to avoid as much contact as you can.

Prior to reading McD’s comment on it, I was of the opinion 2-3 designed runs by Josh would keep the defense honest, and possibly even settle him into the game.   But they shouldn’t “set him free”.   Going back to last season, teams were assigning a spy to Josh and baiting him into those runs… only to close it down.  Which meant Josh didn’t throw to wide open receivers because he was trying to take advantage of the defense.  It wasn’t going to keep working (which is why 1 read and run QBs usually don’t have long successful careers).

As I see it now, Beane says… I got you 2 guards, you have a full back, and 2 pounding (1 now) RBs… run the damn ball.  Incidentally, a large portion of posters here were yelling that same mantra last season.  So the Bills came out in the 2nd half determined to do that and rammed it straight down the Giants teeth.

I think/hope these early season struggles are partly because they’re making every effort to change the offensively philosophy.  Hopefully, when the cold, rainy weather arrives and they need to sustain long, methodical drives, they’ll have it figured out and be able to get the yards without Josh doing it all.  IMO, teams had figured that out and it’s in part why they had all the red zone problems last year.

All they need to do this week is win.  It can be ugly.. I don’t care.  Just keep Josh’s jersey clean, continue to tweak and get the young guys on defense playing well and running the ball effectively.  But most of all… just win.

    Go Bills!

Interesting look...Davis appears to be down with possession?  Why was this not overturned on replay review...should have been looked at by the booth since it was a turnover?

I was wondering about that watching the game.   It looked really close to me… but no replays at all.  But clearly his knee looks down there.  Oh well.

  6. I don’t know about the players expectations, but the fans… at least the ones here… definitely are spoiled by the success and Josh Allen.  The 28pt margins of victory and 1 punt games are the rarity, even against bad teams.  But fans expect that every week.  Because the Bills have been that good.

When it mattered most, when the team needed it… they marched for over 10mins and 89 yards to score. Part of the reason they didn’t score for 3 quarters was because that drive was phenomenal and took nearly the entire 3rd quarter. They had 3 offensive drives in the 2nd half and scored on 2 of them.  A slightly better throw or a better catch and they seal the game with the 3rd.

We don’t even talk about the amazing play and throw Allen made for the 2nd TD.. because it’s just expected now. But that play was something not many QBs can do!

Yes, it was an ugly win.  Yes,  they need to play better to beat the better teams.  Yes, I have concerns about our coaching staff.  But… it’s far better to have all those concerns after the ugly win than after an ugly loss.

Take the win and enjoy the season.   There’s still 11 games to be played over the next 3 months.  I’m sure many here won’t.. it just seems far too appealing to constantly focus on the negative plays and pine for the perfect coaches like that dude in Denver.  Ooooh if only…

With Daniel Jones we probably win 31-9 but Tyrod doesn’t make mistakes but also won’t beat you either. The Giants D played incredible for 3 qtrs but was gassed in the end. Better to be lucky than good today.

That 10min drive from the Bills did a lot to gas them.

  8. This is such a defeatist attitude.   The Bills have to blow out each team, and even then… it doesn’t mean anything.  You’re setting up an impossible task…

beat every team and any team you deem not good, they should completely dominate.  Otherwise, it’s all no good?   Come on.  The premise of this is all based in unrealistic expectations.

  9. I finally watched the game… IMO the defense played like their hair was on fire, especially considering half the starters were out.  AJ should be a defensive player of the week nominee. He was insane. 3 batted down passes, sack/fumble/recovery to end a drive.  This was easily his best game.

The offense was out of sync most of the game. It looked like the Jags were all over the short stuff, which allowed them to shut down the run game.  Dorsey should have turned Allen loose sooner.  Once he stared running and throwing deep, they looked completely different.  That may be my biggest issue with Dorsey… he’s slow to make adjustments to his game plans.

In general… the team looked tired.  You could see clearly mid 4th quarter the Bills were gasping for oxygen, while the Jags were like no big deal.   I would say the league has their answer… a rested, London home team has a  big advantage over a jet lagged team flying in a day or two before the game.

The refs gave us no favors!  Wow… I woulda thought we were playing the chiefs or pats the way that game was called.

Finally, I don’t feel as bad about the loss as I did reading all the reactions here. If not for the fatigue and numerous injuries, I think the Bills win no problem. But they didn’t and now we have significant injuries. That will be the lingering issue.. a tired team suffered huge injuries that could derail the entire season.  Thank you Roger. Hopefully we can survive a few games and get through them without any more injuries.

I think it would have been FAR more fair to have us play a home game in Jacksonville. THAT is how stupid this #@%^ was.

    Think about that.

The fact that this was a Bills home game may be the most puzzling.   The Jags play in London every year, this was their second game in a row there.  If anyone has a “home field” in England it’s them.

How/why would you schedule a scenario like this and call the team that travels the home team - thereby removing one of their actual home games from their schedule??

It literally is the same thing as the Bills traveling to Jax to play them, but calling it a Bills home game because well…You wanted to take  a home game from one team and give it to another.   It’s just crazy to think they did this and didn’t realize how stupid it is.

I’m not kidding, they are losing me to some extent over this crap! I used to be an NFL fan, now I’m just a Bills fan. This should have been shut down as just plain stupid in the spitballing stage. They are trying to attract new fans, while sticking it to their core base.

I had a buddy who never watched another NFL game after the strike season. I didn’t understand that at the time, but now I do. Sometimes it’s just the last straw, and people move on. I’m like that with the NBA. I loved it back in the Braves days, enjoyed it some thru the Jordan years. Now I wouldn’t go if you gave me free tickets, and for the last 5-10 years I don’t even watch the Finals. We spent big $$$ taking kids to games, and they would turn to me on a Tuesday in Charlotte and say “they’re not even trying!” Yep! The last straw.

I have come to enjoy college sports more and more, both football and basketball. I have options. The NFL takes its popularity for granted. If I have to sign up for yet another streaming service like Peacock to see a game, I will voluntarily miss a BIlls game for the first time I can remember. I have $4.99, but it’s a matter of principle. Both sides can say “screw you!”

Completely agree. I’m largely already there.  I only watch non-Bills games in passing.  For me it’s the referee situation and the completely inconsistent way games are called.  It’s hard to watch a game with any vested interest other than Buffalo.

I find free feeds most weeks because yeah… how many streaming services do you need to watch all the Bills games… 5?  It’s not the money for me either, it’s the principle. Just stop with the greed.   Most weeks now you need to spend 20mins just to figure out which service is carrying which game.

The NFL is making money, the players are making money, the advertisers and the “networks” make money.   Celebrities get box seats. Everyone is doing great.. except the average fan that has supported the league and the teams since they sucked.  But that’s the world we live in.

I’ve been to games in both places now, and I learned the Jags have as many or more fans in London as they do in Jacksonville. After all these years, what do you expect? A Bills “home game” my arse!

Been saying this for years.  There’s so much wrong with the “expansion” of the NFL internationally.   But now, you have one team that plays there every year, and now multiple games in a row. Yet, the Bills have to consider that a home game?  The travel is bad, but making a team fly that far to play a team that’s been there, and calling that a home game is just wrong.  Bills fans travel well, and I’m sure people had a memorable trip. But the league basically craps on the fan bases of its franchises each year with this London series.

if they want to expand internationally, then do it.  Create multiple teams in each country, and recreate the World Cup series… but expecting American teams to fly all over the globe to play home games is just *****.  But… they make a lot of money on it, so it’s ok.

Now the Bills are tired, jet lagged, and injured.  And the league just moves on and glosses over all that is wrong with this situation.

Yup. It’s easy to just say we should extend him, but the reality of doing so includes the opportunity cost. For those saying we should extend him, let’s see the max contract you’d offer.

I would say extend him… but its up to Beane and his agent decide what the price should be.  But he’s a

good WR and I’m glad he’s on our team.

    But I’m a homer… Go Bills!

A team is 3-0, won their last game by 50 freakin points and scored 70, are underdogs??

    Only in the NFL.

btw, I think the Bills win too!

Gotta agree.   It seems a bit ridiculous to have the Bills favored given the current situation.  All I can figure is that both teams are fairly even statistically, even with the 70pt finplosion.

This is easily, the early season game of the year. Huge swing in divisional standing based on who wins. Huge confidence boost either way.  I think ultimately, come December, the outcome will matter less.  But for momentum going into October..its a massive.  I expect a dog fight, back and forth slug fest type of game. Miami wants to prove they’re the real deal… the Bills are the Bills.  They don’t loose easy.

Read the title.  I sad over-reacting..  I also after a win made observations as to what I saw.  Better to address areas for concern after a win, then come here and do it after a loss.

Do a search leading up to the playoffs last year and these are pretty much the same concerns and the playoff opponents were not the LV Raiders and Washington Commanders.

    Trust me, I hope I am over-reacting.

    You are overreacting.

There’s one thing I’m certain of… no game, play call, or anything in September is going to win the Super Bowl in February.   Enjoy the wins while we get them.

  16. I truly don’t know what people expect anymore.  I used to think people were spoiled at the end of the 2021 season, and the perfect playoff game against NE.  But, now, I think people just like to complain.  Or maybe people just aren’t happy unless they can drag other people down?

Once again the Bills offense controlled the ball, had good balance running and passing, got everyone involved, limited mistakes, …punted once!

And yet, it’s disjointed, players are under utilized, and lets just throw out entire quarters of play to prove how bad it was.  I’m sorry none of this is critical discussion.  This is just bitchin for the sake of bitchin.

I’m sure there’s plenty of room on the Dolphin bandwagon for everyone that insists you're only good if you win by 50 or more points every week.  Although I imagine there fin fans upset that they didn’t score 80.

  17. I find it interesting how many people have completely dumped on Josh this week.  He clearly had a bad game.  Why is good question to ask.   But..

for so many people to come to the conclusion that his entire career up to this point is a mirage - he cant read defenses, he cant make good decisions, he doesn't prepare, he can’t learn, he’s disobeying the coaches, he’s focused on holywood.

I guess I just don’t understand the vitriol towards him.  He had a bad game.  Period.  Was he concussed, the jets just that good, or he has been foolin us for 5 years, I don’t know.  But seems we should give him some benefit of doubt.  He’s not above criticism.  But he should have earned a little more leeway than most people are giving him.

Thats not entirely fair. Josh had just drove the field to get a last second FG to tie the game. He wasn’t completely comatose.  I agree with others, the draw play on OT on 2nd down right into the teeth of stout line is a cute play that rarely works.   Hell, I woulda preferred a josh designed run over that!  Any thing really.

And there was nothing wrong with the FG on the first drive. The sure points, against a team that probably wont score a lot is not a bad decision.  However, I will say, overall, they did seem to have a rather timid game plan. It felt like the Jets were dictating the game and the Bills were reacting.
