  1. It sounds really pretty football stupid to both rely on preseason performance as the clear evidence which drives us to a decision and then at the very same time dub pre-season caveats as notwithstanding and allows a judgement which ignores the limitations of preseason one wants to ignore.

....but not as football stupid as rolling out for a 3rd year a QB that has topped out, hit his ceiling and has too slow of a CPU to be a consistently good football player at the position. We have our answer 3 years running on Tyrod.

Insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I say put in Nate after the bye...that is if Tyrod continues to struggle which he most likely will based on our data so far.

  2. My thought is start Tyrod for a maximum of 3 more games. If he doesn't improve significantly (which seems unlikely) then hand the keys over to Nate at the bye week. Let him participate with the starters for two weeks. Then start him for the remainder of the season. Lets see what we have. Its entirely possible he becomes our franchise guy. If not, its clear what direction we take next spring.

EDIT: I route hard for Tyrod but the more I watch, the more I conclude his ceiling has been reached.

  3. Do New England* fans constantly say "yeah Brady looked great but it was just the _________"?

Brady's entire career his divisional games have been against awful to mediocre QBs and usually also awful to mediocre teams.

Unless I missed something those wins still counted. When it was Belichick and Brady vs Jauron and trent I didn't hear NE fans downplaying their team's win. When it was Brady vs Cleo Lemon did they have to give back the W? Do their division titles still count?

One of the reasons they rack up 13+ wins every season is that the AFC East has been a joke, yet they still get the bye to the Super Bowl by getting the #1 seed.

Yes, the Jets are not good, but they are still a team with a decent defense and an offense that can make a few plays. The Bills handled them easily (the score didn't do justice to the game). No need to talk yourself out of it. It was a good win. Tyrod played well. The Bills are 1-0.

I am totally tired of it. These negative nellies conveniently avoid the fact that EVERY player on that team and every team is vetted by a professional NFL scouting staff. It was a damn good win and I dont care what the opponents record is. There is no such thing as a bad team in the NFL..PERIOD. EDIT: The delta between a "good" and "bad" NFL team is really not as significant as these band-wagon fans suggest.

    Read my sig line.

    Done.

  4. Every man on that team we beat today was vetted by professional NFL scouts. Sure, some teams are more successful than others but you guys saying we beat a horrible team need to stop skipping class, and stop listening to the media. That team was much better than anyone gives them credit for and....we beat em !

  5. Can we dispense with the hyperbole:

Lesean McCoy - Top 3 running back, likely future HoFer

Cordy Glenn - Above average LT

Richie Incognito - Perennial pro bowl guard

Eric Wood - Severely underrated here

Tyrod Taylor - Say what you want about him, but analytic sites call him vastly underrated, 47 tds to 15 ints (how many better have we had since Kelly, really)

Marcell Dareus - Sure he's got off-field issues, but when active he's one of the best DTs in the league

Kyle Williams - Ok, he's 34, but has the perennial pro bowler slowed down?

Jerry Hughes - Has had off years, but inarguably talented

Shaq Lawson - Considered by many to go as high as 11th last year in draft

Lorenzo Alexander - A ton of tackles, and third in the league in sacks

Tre'Davious White - Extremely promising rookie

Zay Jones - All-time NCAA Div I season and career leader in receptions

I'd also argue that Preston Brown is looking as he did in his rookie season, John Miller was PFF's most improved, Dion Dawkins had a hell of a spring, and Jordan Matthews has 200 more yards than Sammy in the same amount of time (is he the same potential talent, not by a longshot, but on a run-first team that led the league in rushing by 15 ypg, he's not nothing), and Charles Clay, while underwhelming so far, is not untalented.

Could this team have a disastrous year? Sure, but I don't really get this sudden rush to declare them one of the worst in a sea of truly awful teams this year. On paper, this looks like a team that should hover around the same .500 they do every year, and who could have an influx of talent in the upcoming years. Sometimes these teams catch lightning in a bottle, or something clicks. I mostly love what McDermott's been doing (save Ducasse-Miller battle) and am going into the season with an open mind.

However, to call this a low talent team is simply absurd.

Thank you. It cannot be said better than that.

These threads are what prompted my sig line !!

  6. What I remember from that Browns game is they couldnt move the ball at all until they put Manziel in. If he cared about football at all during that time I think the worst he would have been was someone like Tyrod Taylor, he had the talent. Complete waste, but maybe he has a Flutie sort of comeback. You never know.

+1. I remember that game. I thought we were doomed but our D came through. I still like the kid and wish him well should he get serious about a comeback attempt.

  7. Was at a super bowl party. No doubt we are gonna win this game. Snowing hard outside. Owner of the house was a Giants fan and frankly a dousche bag. I thought it was a 30 yarder then they said 47 yard attempt I got real nervous. It was one of the worst moments in my life. I'll never forget it. Total devestation.

  8. I think Nate practices with the 2's more than the ones, so that probably didnt help. You could tell he and Zay were on different pages a few times. But......I really dont think any of our QB's are very good at this time and to make matters worse the O-line is struggling badly which is the bigger issue.

  9.

He's not going to and shouldn't since there isn't a competition for the starting QB job. It's time to get ready for the regular season, not experiment with a rookie QB.

Not everyone wants to see Peterman in with the #1 offense because he hasn't even done great as the #2.

+1. Let Nate cut his teeth with the 2's. We put EJ with the ones and it broke his spirit. Bring the kid along methodically. We are not likely to make a playoff push this year anyway. Yea, play him some but you dont want to throw him to the wolves just yet.

Go Bills. Show us some signs of brilliance on the field. Thats all I ask for at this point.

  10. No injuries...obviously; and cohesive O-line play. Tyrod et al had defenders in their face at the 2 to 3 second point on way too many pass plays. Keep up the good run blocking as well.

Would like to see what our QB's can do in a clean pocket situation, and I'd like to see Tyrod tuck it and run when the pocket breaks down come regular season (but not tonight).

C'mon Bills, please...give us just a smidgeon of hope.

  11. Thumbs up to this move.

If you consider our draft picks last spring and the guys we got in this trade (along with Anquon and friends) I dont even think anyone will notice the absence of Sammy and Ron Darby. The 2018 picks are frosting on the cake.

Yup, Sammy was fun to watch in the few games he played but was always injured...... even when he played in games.

I dont see how any fan cannot LOVE this move. Absolute no-brainer for all the reasons we've discussed ad nauseum.

We'll go .500 this year just as we would have had Sammy and Ron remained on the squad.

I'm hoping for a QB miracle this year and his name is Nathan.

ps....if the roles were reversed this board would blow up because we traded for a receiver thats injured all the time. Gaurantee it.
