Kurt Warner sat out his first 3 seasons at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, a Division I-AA. He was overlooked by division 1 programs. He did have a winning record his senior year....8-3 I think ?
He went undrafted in 94. The Pack took a shot at him and cut him in a few short weeks.
I'd say he turned out pretty good. Just sayin.

This kid never made my radar screen. After watching those two highlight reels I'm pretty impressed. Thanks for the heads-up I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

NO WAY !! He's another Fitzpatrick !!
Just kidding of course. This is an interesting idea fer sher. Thanks.

Well, they've survived the initial onslaught. Its still a game at halftime. JJ came to play. Gotta love that kid he's a gamer.

This is like watching Buffalo. I had it right the first time. Atlanta is a fraud and Saint...you nailed it earlier. They dont have the mental toughness to overcome adversity.
I really hate the Seahawks (or Pete Carrol to be accurate) .

Me too but I've also been late to the Seahawks bandwagon so I'm not sure how much I give Atlanta on this yet. They are a talented team but I still don't buy that they are mentally tough and I'm not sure a blowout at home against a rookie qb changes that feeling.
Yup, and I'm not certain if Seattle is really "that good" or if they are just peaking at the right time. And...a somewhat off-topic comment: Mike Shanahan should be fired for playing that kid (RGIII) last week. Would Washington have beat Seattle with Cousins? Not sure but good grief he really put Griff in harms way last week. Made me sick to watch that game.
Not a skins fan but I sure hope Griffin recovers fully.

I've been calling the Falcons a fraud all season long. I'll take fries with that Crow. Thanks.

My biggest problem with running QBs is their longevity. Will RG3 ever be the same? Michael Vick is an injury waiting to happen everytime he runs.
You base the entire offense around one guy and he gets hurt? You got trouble
.....and its a big problem IMO. While the read option is fun to watch I think it will be a short-lived fad much like the wildcat. Guys will get killed running that thing for any length of time.

Do you not remember how no one chased him in free agency last year?
Yup, and it could be a good thing if no one does this year. Might get him for a 3rd rounder if that repeats which IMO might be a good pick up. He's hungry. A reasonable upgrade over Fitz....... until a better prospect comes along.

The problem, at least as I see it, is that there are only very shaky QBs in this draft with each being a long-shot to develop into a good starting QB. I'd rather have Alex Smith for a few years, take a flyer on a rookie to see if we get lucky and (assuming we don't) then go all-in next year to get a better rookie prospect. Alex Smith isn't Tom Brady, but he could be a winner with a great D and running game - exactly what the Bills are trying to build (and they have a lot of the parts).
He'd certainly be an upgrade over what we have now. I'd rather see him start next year than any of the available rookies in the draft. Wouldn't bother me a bit to see Alex in a Bills uniform.

exactly, not to sound like an old fogey, which i am, but 20-25 years ago, the pre-game shows were watchable, stuck to the match-ups, weather, etc.. now it is pop culture B S.. totally unwatchable.. like someone mentioned, standing on a fake field, is really tough to take..
Yup, I'm also an old fogey and I cant take the pre-game shows anymore. During the season I do like the radio call pre-game of the Bills games however. Those guys do some decent analysis, minus all the BS.

He should just go to the CFL and prove what he can do and in a few years he can come back if he is successful. That's what Flutie did and he was like a god up there. Then he came back to the NFL and got his own cereal and did a drop kick extra point
May well end up being his best option. Now its reported that not even Jax can see him fitting in to their team.

I'll go with 626. Thanks Hammered.

There were times this past season where seeing Tebow in a Bills uniform.....under center .....wouldn't have bothered me a bit. He throws an accurate long ball. I've seen it.

no thanks.. We're going to trade down to around #28 from #8 to obtain this?
Alex Smith's best season (2011): 273/445; 90.7 rating; 61.3%; 3,144yds; 17td, 5int
Fitzpatrick this season: 306/505; 83.3 rating; 60.6%; 3,400yds; 24td; 16int
The main difference between the two? We didn't have a top 5 defense and a genius coach who puts his QB in a position to succeed.
Lets keep the 8th pick.
Thats reasonable. What I'm thinking is "if" the Bills decide to draft a QB round one, there "probably" wont be a big difference in quality between #8 and whatever San Frans' pick is. This year's crop is looking kind of average....I think ! I dunno, maybe its a dumb idea. Been wrong before, will be again too. And again, I'm not certain San Fran would buy into this anyway. Whatever the case, I really look forward to the moves waiting to be made by our new regime.

ps....great Bills forum here.

Heres what I'm thinkin and its probably been said already.
-Trade down with San Fran. Acquire Alex Smith. Give San Fran the #8 pick, and we get Alex and their 1st rounder (maybe #28-32 somewhere?)
-Draft the best QB available based on skills assessment with that later 1st round pick from San Fran.
-Alex, love em or hate em is an upgrade from what we have now.
- Let the rookie develop behind Alex for a year or two, or start if he beats him out in pre-season.
I dont know if San Fran would go for such a deal but if they did it'd be pretty cool I'm thinking.

Maybe a good idea but thats not the role he seeks. He's said he wants to play the QB position so I'm not certain bringing him in as a TE / FB etc is a role he'd want. I reckon a Tebow addition to the roster would boost ticket sales regardless of position. I like the kid, hope he finds a home somewhere.

So far I have been fairly pleased with the way this has all played out. Marrone seems like he is hungry and gets a little extra motivation knowing he has to turn this thing around. Appears to like to challenge himself and there is no bigger challenge in the NFL today than bringing the Buffalo Bills back to greatness.
+1.
Lets hope they can sign some nice additions. Like QB, WR, LB's and maybe a little depth at O line. For starters !

Zac Dysert - QB - Miami of Ohio

No real connection. Just sayin that if Kurt's situation were current (ie... just graduating from college now) that a lot of folks here would say...no thanks, just like Dysert and other qb's mentioned on this board. Understandably so. Sometimes there is a diamond in the rough ......we just gotta fine em. Maybe its Zac.....maybe not. Who knows? Lets hope the staff can figure this out. We've got a real mess at the position.
