If this is true, I'd love to know the reasoning behind wanting a 1 and a 4 this year and a 6 or 7 next year instead of a 1 and 3 this year. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

What does the league think of Denver for trading Cutler? Contract disputes and trades happen all the time. I'm not happy about it but what would you like me to do. Whine like a baby like most here are doing?
Exactly.

Right now we have Hangartner, Chambers, Butler, and Walker who started last year. We have to fill the freakin LT and LG with a rookie.
You could have had the same problem without an extra 1st and 4th if Peters decided to holdout until week 10(which could have been a very likely scenario).
-
I would have been happier with just the 21st pick instead of the 28th and the other two, but if the Bills were convinced it was time to move on(they weren't going to deal with his bs anymore) and this was the best deal they could get, then so be it.

You CAN'T have a dome in buffalo, what would buffalo be without those games be played in blizzard like conditions.
You're right. Playing outside has been such an advantage for the Bills over the last decade.

not trying to be negative, but from what you just described about Coffman, he sounds a heck of a lot like Fine. Except Fine is a half way decent blocker. Also i am with maddox, Mathews sounds like he is exactly what the Bills need in a OLB. Can play pass coverage and rush the qb. I personally would go d in the first then Oline in the second and fourth. And then go back to d front seven in the third. Depending on whatever you did not take in the first.
No comparison except in the blocking category. Coffman is several inches taller and had an outstanding career at Missouri in the receiving department. In addition to this, he reportedly has hands like flypaper.
-
He was an absolutely dominating QB coming out of HS. No reason not to take a look at him. He needs about 20 pounds and he's good. Can't be any worse than Drew Hensen
He could be a LOT worse than Henson. Henson at least played college football at the D1 level. Paulus hasn't played organized football beyond HS and that was 4 years ago.
PS I agree with the earlier poster who said that Paulus handled the benching in a classy manner this past season.

1. Cushing. As much as they need a DE, Cushing over Ellison would help a LOT more ASAP in all areas of the defense including the pass rush versus one of the DE prospects replacing Kelsay.
2. Coffman. I know I said address the lines in earlier posts, but this guy is capable of doing two things very well that have been lacking in recent years...a guy with great hands who can keep the chains moving and a temendous red zone target. Can he become an adequate blocker? Only time will tell. Can he get open on the seam route? Probably not his game, but that is what you have WR's for.
3.Best OG/OC/DE remaining. Levitre, Wood, Urbik, Johnson, Caldwell, Meredith, Sidbury or Kruger
PS Rounds 4 through 7...Use at least two more picks on the lines, another linebacker and a safety.

Gokey and Chris are just...blah. I like Matt more than either of them. Lil should have been booted a couple of weeks ago, Allison IMO despite the praises of the judges has not been as good the last couple of weeks. Anoop sucks.
Adam(and a slight possibility of Allison) is the only hope out of the remaining 7 to become a recording superstar.

What was up with the judges only getting to speak about every other singer. My 2 primary reasons to watch the show are to hear Paula struggle to form a sentence and then Simon hitting homeruns with his reviews.
Are you telling me the director can't figure out how to bring the show in on time?

Considering the Bills have sucked for the better part of a decade, wouldn't you think it would be easier to find more starters from the draft? This plays a big role in their grade. It doesn't really mean these starters are quality players.
-
Not that this is a bad thing, but Coffman's strong suit would appear to be a guy who could move the chains and be a great red zone target. From what I have read, he is not a guy who can stretch the field and like most TE's in this draft who are good receivers, there are major questions about their ability to become good inline blockers.

Sometime in the last month or so, they had on a GM who said that his team has had too much trouble with players they drafted who had questionable character and starting this draft, they are raising the bar so to speak.
For the life of me, I can't remember who it was. Any help??

Any idea if the Pro Football Weekly's 2009 Draft Preview book is out in stores? I went looking for it today at Borders and Barnes & Nobles and couldnt find it anywhere.
There is a whole stack of them at the Barnes and Noble on NF Blvd. They are in the magazine section.

I'm so sick of seeing us get dominated at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball I don't even care...if this guy is that good, draft the fugger. The way I see it, drafting him way too high and taking a lot of sh-- for it in the media is still better than drafting a round 1 DB no matter where we take 'em.
-
I like Adam and he is head and shoulders above the competition, but I don't think the lighting, etc... is his idea. I think it is Idol's way of promoting certain contestants above and beyond their singing ability.
-
I'll agree with both you and Rich. Given the apparent "depth" of positions in the draft, the most wise choice in a couple of weeks would be to go DE with the #11 and then interior OL with the #42. I am totally against drafting a G or C at the #11 spot. If we cant get a DE or DT, i'd rather see a OLB than G/C.
I'd have no problem with Cushing or Matthews at #11 if the DE the Bills want is no longer there.. Ellison is a career backup. We need an impact player at the OLB position.
-
Let's ignore the (lack of a) pass rush yet again and load up on O linemen. It'll work.
When have they "loaded up" on the OL in the draft? Both lines have to be addressed in a bad way and since taking a guard or center at #11 would be ridiculous, the smart play is a DE at #11(Brown, Jackson, Orapko or Maybin), OL(guard and center?) with picks 2 and 3, followed by a OLB or TE in round 4.
-
OL, DL, LB, TE and maybe one day 2 safety? No QB, RB, WR or CB. Ideally I'd like the Bills to trade down at some point in the draft and pick up an extra pick or two, but still focus on the positions listed above.

Agreed...
I know I'm one Bills Fan that doesn't want to sit through another Holdout by our Starting LT...I imagine the FO feels the same...
I've been saying all along I don't think Peters wants to be here UNLESS He's the Top Paid LT in the NFL...And I don't think The Bills have any intention of paying Him that way...So...Unfortunately it looks like we lose Peters via Trade in the next few weeks before The Draft...It's not the outcome I was hoping for...But it seems to be the way this thing is headed no question about it...
I agree that he will be gone before the draft if there is no agreement in place for an extension. There is no way the Bills want another situation like last year, which could even be possibly worst this year(Peters doesn't show up until week 10).

Denver fans have to be pulling their hair out with the offseason they have had.

"I'm going in to work hard," he said. "My dad (Kevin) is a retired (Army) lieutenant colonel, and he always said work for what you earn. I have the opportunity to go to a great team and a great place. I don't need to go in there thinking I'm big stuff. I need to go in there trying to make a big impact."
Could have fooled me Mike.
Bills now have 3 of the first 42 picks

NO. I don't want to see any trade ups at any point in the draft. We traded up for Losman and McCargo which we busted on twice and also traded up for Poz who gets an incomplete/mediocre grade at this point.
