  1. http://buckeyextra.d...y----smith.html

I heard in passing on NFL Network that Troy Smith looked impressive at the OSU Pro Day. They even said they believe a team will sign him.

With Matt Moore re-signing with Miami, the FA crop is thinner than ever. He was never a complete bust in the NFL - he was just sort of lost in the shuffle of Joe Flacco, Alex Smith, and Colin Kaepernick's rise.

Would he be worth a shot with T-Jack and whomever we draft (assuming Fitz is gone)?

    omg, again!

  2. Peer pressure doesnt mean a hill of beans to me, so i dont care what the "consensus" thinks. Most of my best investments have been made under the cloud of everyone telling me I was crazy.

The "numbers" in favor of Fitz are easily explained going from a defensive-minded, conservative, and offensively-inept HC like Jauron to the mirror opposite in Gailey.

look, joe is the definition of insanity.

  3. I personally don't think Marrone wants any part of Smith. From the way Marrone seemed to slow him down every time he played against him, I'm going to say Marrone will pass on him.

    Smith's three games against Marrone

    3 losses and Smith scored 14, 23, 14 points

    63/106

    717 yards

    5 TDs 5 Ints

    11 sacks

    91 yards rushing

Marrone was doing something right when game planning for Smith. Also heard Geno was one of those, half the field guys. No thanks.

  4. Trentative had the best chance of being the most complete qb of the 3; better brain than JP, better arm than Fitz. Sure looked the part in this game against jags. Nice job of making good and quick decisions; looking off DBs; mixing up short, medium and long passes. That end zone corner route to hardy in particular, that's what makes an NFL qb, and something I've never seen out of Fitz.

One drive against a suspect Jags team does not make a QB. I don't think his arm is stronger than Fitz and if Hardy isn't 6'6" and jumping 3 feet in the air he doesn't make that catch.

Find some TE crap drives and show those also. He had way more of those than ones like this one you have chose to show.

  5. In alphabetical order: Edwards, Fitzpatrick, Losman (not including Holcomb because he was never considered a serious starter).

    I rank them:

    1) Edwards: smart in the sense of not a lot of dumb mistakes, pretty good arm I think (not sure since he didn't throw deep very often); weakness seemed to be declining confidence and lack of leadership ability.

    2) Losman: had the physical tools, but mentally just was not there to be a real winner at this level.

    3) Fitzpatrick: academically smart which didn't always translate on the field (can be erratic), and worst arm of the three (strength and accuracy). But tough as nails, would hang in there and take the big hit if it meant getting it to the best option. Also uncanny knack for drawing out talent of unheralded receivers like Stevie Johnson and Chandler.

You can't be serious? Really? The hatred for Fitz has stooped to this level? Comparing him to JP and TE, it's not even close who the better QB is/was. To think TE and JP were better than Fitz is just plain ignorant Fitz hatred.

  6. This is silly.

Jackson turned down $7 million from St. Louis because they had told him he'd have a diminished role. He wants to be the feature back. That ain't happening here.

Why would we spend limited $$ on an aging 3rd running back who wants to start?

    Close this thread.

Exactly, another thread wanting to sign some other teams cuts.

  7. Jackson IMO is the best QB option we have for this year. This is what I've been saying for awhile. No QB in this year's draft is worth drafting and there isn't a FA QB worth signing. So rather than wasting money and time, just sign Jackson and have him compete for the starting spot and hopefully he'll come out on top.

careful what you wish for. the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

  8. Ultimately the point is that Fitz's stats are wildly inflated by playing against 2nd string defenses in games that were blowouts. Throwing 2 yard screens to CJ and watching him run 60+ yds for TDs doesn't hurt either. If you still don't get that then I don't know what to tell you.

    No they weren't

Oh, I get it perfectly fine wise guy, I just think you are wrong. I don't believe in "garbage time stats", it's a bunch of bunk to fit your argument.

Define garbage time? Because a team is losing they are just supposed to give up and not try? Or because a team is winning they don't try either? garbage time stats is crap. Garbage time to me is 1:10 to go in the 4th quarter and the score is 41-3 and the loser team gets an oh by the way TD to make the score 41-10. That's garbage time, not like you seem to think, where the score is 35-20 with 10:00 to go in the 3rd quarter and anything after that is "garbage time". No!

Not sticking up for Fitz, but please, take your garbage time stats and shove em.

  9. You might want to look again. SEA didn't have a single WR that belongs in the NFL in 2011 (maybe Rice, but he was hurt half the year). There's no Stevie Johnson on that team. I think you got the point, but maybe just think a bit too highly of Doug Baldwin.

Look at what? I don't consider SJ a great WR, yes he is good but nothing spectacular, average seems to describe him well, and has a bad habit of dropping key passes. Other than him the WR corps for each team are meh! Both teams suck, again, your point makes nadda.

  10. Every time someone posts Ryan "Garbage Time" Fitzpatrick's stats God kills a kitten. Here's a challenge: Name 2 WRs of the 2011 SEA roster without an internet search.

I looked, i'm guilty. Don't see much difference in WR's

Seattle had mike williams, doug baldwin, sidney rice, ben obomanu, golden tate, zach miller

Buffalo had derek hagan, donald jones, steve johnson, dave nelson, scott chandler, naaman roosevelt, brad smith ruvell martin

I don't know, I sure don't see much of a difference as I think they are both very weak.

    What was your point?

  11. Ahhhh! Someone I agree with...Check out my reply/post as you summed up my long thesis in two sentences!!! Greeeeat Job!!!

I agree a LB 1st and QB in 2nd, but i really feel Marrone and his staff will make a world of difference just by themselves. Even if they didn't add any players I think they are a better team just because the new coaches are more competent. Of course that is just my opinion.

  12. Salient points:

    1) TJax was to have become an unrestricted free agent yet he re-signs with the Bills.

No doubt they are looking to upgrade at the QB position, but I think TJax resigned here because he knew he wasn't going to get any offers anywhere else. I think if he knew he had a shot to go elsewhere he would have been gone in a heartbeat. So I don't read too much into this signing as I think the QB they draft is going to be the starter.

  13. I'll take him. We need playmakers! Our WR corp is WEAK!

Actually it's even worse than that!

Stevie Johnson the work out warrior

David Nelson coming off ACL surgery

Donald Jones a goner and wasn't that good to start!

T.J. Graham a promising young guy that had a lot of drops.

Brad Smith Not a WR in my eyes

    Marcus Easley garbage

    Kevin Elliott who?

    Chris Hogan who?

Can't be, I thought it was the QB that was the problem, and he made the WR look weak.

I'll pass on Harvin. Bills need a new QB and new WRs for the new coach.
