  1. LOL. That was his first (and probably not only) mistake. You NEVER negotiate on the basis of the monthly payment; it's too easy for them to screw you in other ways while they make you "think" you got a good deal. When I'm buying a car I let the dealer think I'm paying cash until we've agreed on the price. I also negotiate any trade-in separately, and get my own financing set up beforehand. I then give their finance people a chance to match or beat the deal.

All good advice, the only further thing I would add is to NEVER walk into a dealership to negotiate the price of a car. Use the Fighting Chance method and the "Fax attack".

  2. see that's why i put in the thread title "Howard Stern vs Dolly Parton...." it really amazes me why people feel compelled to make disparaging comments on things they do not care about or do not like...or I guess "hate". But if you must you must, thanks for the contribution and even more so, bumping this thread up for even more exposure.

Researcher: The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes.

Pig Vomit: How can that be?

Researcher: Answer most commonly given? "I want to see what he'll say next."

Pig Vomit: Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern?

Researcher: Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day.

Pig Vomit: But... if they hate him, why do they listen?

Researcher: Most common answer? "I want to see what he'll say next."

  3. My question about that. First, you pay for EACH model of car you want their service on, correct? So I should be pretty sure between the one or two models I want?

Also, you got offers from 7 dealers? Didn't this require 7 hits on your credit? I'm very cognizant of my credit score now, and I wouldn't want 7 hard hits all at once.

    I sent you a PM..

  4. Enjoy, it's one of their best efforts IMO. Cash Box, Cruel Fate, Her Own Kinda Woman and Spanish Highway are among my favorites.

Just checked out Big Head Todd's tour page and it looks like they are playing Thursday at The Square in Buffalo on 9/4. This qualifies as a must see, especially since it's free.

  5. I would again recommend that anyone considering buying or leasing a new car try the Fighting Chance package. From their website:

Perhaps most important, you'll be able to do all your negotiating

using our "Fax Attack", without going anywhere near a car store!

(Complete details included, with sample faxes for buying and

leasing.) We concluded a long time ago that only a fool would

actually walk into a car store to negotiate the price of a car. Most

customers tell us the "Fax Attack" information alone is worth the

price of the entire package because it teaches them how

to buy a new car the smart way for the rest of their lives.

I used their "Fax Attack" method to purchase a 2007 Toyota Tacoma. I never set foot in a car dealership and had seven solid offers within 24 hours. I eventually got the truck I wanted for $100 under invoice. I didn't even have to go to the dealership to pick it up! The dealer was about a two hour drive from my house so they offered to drive it out to me.

  6. well then you are missing the foo fighters and white stripes to name only a couple...time to move that musical taste out of the 60's...alot has changed and its not all bad

I said most of them. I like the Foo Fighters and the White Stripes, but I haven't heard their current albums yet. I love new music, I just haven't used FM radio for the past decade to get exposed to it. An early favorite of mine for best of 2008 is from Big Head Todd and The Monsters. You can download it for free from their website.

  7. I havent looked at the list yet, but my question before i do is, how many of these have you listened to? or are you just assuming that they are unworthy? heck i may come back to recant this statement after i look at the list, but i am finding alot of stuff that i used to dismiss because of what others say that I am actually beginning to enjoy.....

The only ones that I have heard on that list are Zeppelin, U2 and the Beatles. As far as the rest, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet I'm not missing anything with most of them.

  8. IMO, the best places to have a beer are not at the touristy places, but at the local pubs. That is where you get the true atmosphere and not in the manufactured places. Having a beer at the Hofbrau in Munich was nice, but I preferred the Ratskeller. The GABF is good for selection, but BFD. Too many obnoxious drunks who act like they have never had beer before. It makes it difficult to actually enjoy the beer.

Some of the best places are the ones not advertised.

    Exactly! :wallbash:

  9. I'm legally blind in one eye, so there is no way in hell that I would let anyone try it on my good eye.

I'm in the same boat. Having had eight eye surgeries in the past year and a half trying to save my left eye vision there is no way I'd ever have ANY type of elective surgery. I wonder if a Dr. would even perform lasik if the patient only has monocular vision? One would hope they would at least try to strongly discourage it.

  10. About 2 or 3 weeks ago I stumbled over this series on AMC and was instantly sucked in. It's got a "Falling down" vibe to it, and very good acting.

Try to catch this series from the beginning, I thinks there's about 4 or 5 episodes out so far and AMC repeats them.

    Agreed. Great show.

  12. I'd go with LA's advice on the shoes. If you are going to start running I'd recommend trying to follow the Couch to 5k plan. I just finished week 6 of this 9 week program and haven't had any problems to date.

Too many people have been turned off of running simply by trying to start off too fast. Their bodies rebel, and they wind up miserable, wondering why anyone would possibly want to do this to themselves.

You should ease into your running program gradually. In fact, the beginners' program we outline here is less of a running regimen than a walking and jogging program. The idea is to transform you from couch potato to runner, getting you running three miles (or 5K) on a regular basis in just two months.

  13. Kramer: I got news for you: handicapped people, they don't even want to park there! They wanna be

treated just like anybody else! That's why, those spaces are always empty.

George: He's right! It's the same thing with the femenists. You know, they want everything to be

equal, everything! But when the check comes, where are they?

    Elaine: What does that mean?

George: Yeah! Alright, I'm pulling in.

    Kramer: Yeah, go ahead.

    Elaine: George!

George: Oh, come on, it's five minutes.

  14. They've been doing that for 30 years. Why mess with the formula? And I agree. Never care for the live CDs even though I appreciate that they are an amazing band live.

They used to do a live one after every four studio albums, so you got to hear some of their recent material on a live CD every 8-10 years. This will make three consecutive live albums for each of the last three studio albums they have released.
