The Obama infomercial
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
anytime I have heard him, which is a lot, he said "taxes", and he has specifically talked about income taxes and capital gains. Something that his campaign messes up is switching between $250K and $200K, which confuses just about everyone, including the media. Those that pay attention, and/or understand his platform, realize those figures represent married couples and singles, respectively. -
The Obama infomercial

exact quote from his tax plan: I didn't include the citations and footnotes, open the PDF if you want that. Also, the Tax Policy Center analyzed the plan in detail, have at it... -
your hero, that persecuted American icon, that patriot amongst us, Joe the Plumber, is a liar... The man that lives next door to me is a plumber, he has 4 men working for him and he doesn't gross more than $230K. Joe isn't going to buy his employer's business out, he isn't going to make $250K this year, next year, or in all likelihood, during Obama's first term even if he was able to somehow buy that 2-man business. He's never going to get a loan, because he isn't creditworthy. He can't even pay his taxes on the $40K he makes today and he has the balls to complain about some theoretical windfall income based on a lie. His lack of a license just shows you he makes choices in a way that skirts the law, but that doesn't really factor into the equation. He's like a guy that comes to your house to buy a car you have for sale, says he's seriously interested, takes it for a test drive, promises to get back to you tomorrow and never does, because he's a dreamer, not a buyer. He made a conscious choice to get in front of Obama and misrepresent himself in order to discredit the senator from Illinois because he disagrees with the man's platform. Any criticism he gets, he has brought on himself for being dishonest. Get over it...

Obama accepting untraceable donations

ummm, with all due respect, where does it say or even hint that it's "a great deal of it suspected to be illegal"? There's certainly a potential for a lot of illegal contributions, but I read today that's it's probably closer to 1%. I'm not condoning it or making excuses, but until there's proof with actual numbers, I think you're jumping the gun. -
no, but if someone is saying "no, this president is worse than that one," show me a way to make a simple comparison from 1 to the other

ok, let's split hairs. Bush has the record for the lowest approval rating ever recorded by a sitting president, 19% (2/16-19/2008 - during the Iraqi insurgency, and 09/16-19/2008 - after the economy tanked)

Now it's ties to "Godless Americans"

what in the F does this have to do Mrs. Dole's campaign's creation of a fabricated ad against Kay Hagan? -
lol, I was asked by DC Tom who I/we were celebrating taking it back from. We aren't taking our country back from the congress, although the dems are about to capture an obscene amount of seats in both houses.
-
I don't think Jimmy Carter was a great president, but his approval rating was no lower than 28%, whereas Mr. George W. Bush is hovering in the low 20s. I also think that after he leaves office, there will be significant (as yet unknown to the public) evidence and dirty laundry that will show just how damaging his administration was.
-
how am I being selective? You chose to contest my answer by bringing up the congress' approval rating... Remember the SCHIP vote? 9 million children that were not covered by either public or private health care. Bush chose to fight it after he suddenly found his veto voice and although the bill had bipartisan support, it wasn't enough to override the President's veto. That was in the day where there was plenty of GOP congressmen and women that simply lined up to support their leader, regardless of the issue. Is that the reason for a historically low approval rating of congress? No, but it demonstrates how a simple majority does not translate to an effective legislative branch as viewed by the public. Let's see what happens after January 20th. But to answer your question, you probably need to judge both the president/administration and the congress.

let's check the approvial rating late in 2011...

and nothing whatsoever to do with GOP deregulation policies? I'm not saying for a second that it's entirely the fault of the republicans, because dems had a big hand in this, but to put all the blame on the left is beyond partisan, and bordering dishonesty.

because the RNC and the McCain campaign are using "Joe the Plumber" to reach "Joe 6-Pack" in order to reinforce their message(s). check out their response to the Death to Israel comment by Joe... "While he's clearly his own man, so far Joe has offered some penetrating and clear analysis that cuts to the core of many of the concerns that people have with Barack Obama's statements and policies," RNC spokesman Jeff Sadosky said. "Whether it is Obama's willingness to sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or his plans to redistribute the paychecks of hardworking Americans, there is good reason to question the judgment that Obama would bring to the Oval Office."
