  1. Obama would never, ever been put into a position where he had dodge those kind of slings and arrows. He's way too smart and informed on so many issues for that to happen. And one of the reasons he was elected is that he's so unflappable and calm and measured in his responses. Plus he buys his own clothes...
  2. come off it, she did really well with her BFF Sean Hannity
  3. Are you really saying that the campaign would not have predicted the type of questions that Katie Couric would ask and thereby briefed Governor Palin (read Prepare) by practicing these in advance? That is their job and I have trouble believing they would let her go in there like she did and lose the game for them with a famous national reporter. There was no gotcha journalism here. That doesn't pass the smell test!
  4. this guy Robert Draper of the NYT had a number of interviews of high level staffers and McCain advisers.
  5. Steve Schmidt and Rick Davis chose Palin and sold John McCain on the idea. Once the lower level staff met her and realized what a handful they were given, that's when the fireworks likely started. While a campaign is supposed to stick together and watch each other's back, Palin was a reflection on them, their campaign, and their performance. Being good doobies only goes so far. The most telling part of this story was the Couric interview. She refused to prepare and looked totally ridiculous in the interview. How do you think that makes the staff who are responsible for Palin staff look? and feel? I'm sure Davis, Schmidt and JMC himself ripped them a new one. That's tough to take.
  6. let's just say there have been periods of bad and better relationships with Russia, and right now we're in one of those bad ones due to their Putin muscle flexing, Georgia, Ukraine, NATO, Poland, etc. If I understand StupidNation right, he's saying let's get back to a better diplomatic standing between us. I don't disagree with your two scenarios, but I'm guessing Obama will play the middle ground. He will continue to court allies in former soviet satellites and try to appease Russia in some ways, like move the anti-missile system to Israel or someplace out of Russia's backyard, as an example.
  7. did you get the memo? they didn't have any put down the bong and read something besides comic books
  8. you're not really asking this are you? whose idea was it to put anti-missile systems in Poland? You think NATO or Poland pleaded with the US to do that? I'm not saying it was a good idea or a bad one, but as POTUS, Bush takes the responsibility for the decision
  9. preconditions (as in "you must destroy your nuclear enrichment facilities") is not the same as preparation (as in holding low level diplomatic talks prior to meeting).
  10. plus his map was right on the money... calling 338 for Obama and 200 for McCain on 11/3
  11. I didn't offer an opinion, I said pundits were saying that there weren't going to be any retreads. My choice of words 'members of former administrations" probably wasn't very good. I think the inference was former cabinet members or high level administrators, but I really don't know what to expect.
  12. it's amazing that NC and Missouri ended in ties, but what happens as far as allocating their EC votes? Nothing because Obama won without them?
  13. yeah, I was thinking about this as well. I heard a couple pundits say Obama's cabinet would be based heavily on bipartisanship and no old guard (members of former administrations), so that would be a great example by offering JMC a position. Homeland Security would definitely work. and I thought it was a great speech also, the best I've ever heard him give.
  14. If Al Gore lost in a blowout, you might have a point, basheveryonedickwad
  15. judging by the outcome of the election, neither did Obama's positions but I'm guess they were all sheeples and lemmings
  16. totally agree, wasn't comparing him to Bush, just saying neither is a true conservative
  17. I was going to suggest a montage of McCain against/for tax cuts, offshore drilling, immigration reform, privatizing social security, etc. but I won't...
  18. W 2.6 GPA ---Yale - History 2.6 GPA ---Harvard - Business O 3.8 GPA ---Columbia - Poly Sci 4.0 GPA ---Harvard - Law (Magna Cum Laude)
  19. the day you start getting your information from something other than right wing talk radio hosts and blogs is the same day you might, repeat might, know what the !@#$ you're talking about
  20. this I can agree with, neither are true conservatives. It might be just coincidence, but almost to the day after Greenspan's book came out, bashing W for letting an unbridled GOP Congress spend money however it saw fit, and by not vetoing a single bill in six years, Mr. Bush realized his legacy was in deep trouble and started blocking almost everything that wasn't defense related.
  21. I guess 62,443,218 Americans pretended to like Obama huh?
  22. I listened to it and they were good, no doubt. I was just surprised she didn't know by the conversation.. She didn't even hesitate to respond to him when he said he stuff like he loved her porn vid, what was she thinkin'??
  23. damn good perspective Tom
