  1. Criticism is easy. Solutions are hard.
  2. CNN Thingy You would think that they could shorten their name just a little.
  3. Hey. Keep this political crap off the board. There are more serious discussions that need to happen, like the results of poker tournaments.
  4. You are kidding, right? If we evacuated EVERYTHING from the Middle East, stopped all aid and severed all ties to anything even remotely Middle Eastern, we would still get attacked. It is part of the fundamental principles of the radical Islam practiced by these extremists. They want all countries to be Islamic states. We are not an Islamic state. They will attack us until we become an Islamic state.
  5. Too slow. Not enough of a challenge. Bunnies are much better targets. You have both horizontal and vertical leading to do.
  6. Too easy. Not enough of a sport with a 12 ga. Too much room for error. Use a .30-06. Play with him for a little while (shoot in front of him to scare him, clip him a few times, etc). Then finish him off.
  7. Sorry. Utopia...then 9/11...then limbo...then Iraq. Got it. I think there was some thingy we did in the Middle East between 9/11 and Iraq. Do you happen to know what that was all about? I think it made the papers for a few days.
  8. Shhhh...you are not supposed to remember that things happened before Iraq.
  9. Good point. You need to analyze the impact of 527's on the campaigns. The candidate does not need to spend as much money on ads, since they have other organizations doing their work for them. Those other organizations can also be more aggressive in their advertising message, whereas the candidate needs to be more subdued.
  10. Something ain't right when the terrorists at Gitmo are treated better than Arpaio's prisoners.
  11. I cannot think of anything he can do to prevent pro-lifers from getting through that he couldn't do as just a member of the committee. I may be wrong, but tie-breaking votes would be the only thing. If there are a majority of pro-lifers on the committee, then the nominee will get through. Otherwise, a pro-choice candidate would get through. Of course, there is that little thingy about other issues playing a factor other than just abortion.
  12. The Senate Judiciary holds confirmation hearings on judges. Just like anything else in the legislature, items need to go through the committee before it can reach the Senate floor.
  13. It is a good way to educate the kids on laws are made. It is also a good way to show them that there are WAY too many laws on the books and that it is very easy for a politician to slowly strip away your individual freedoms and to infringe on your way of life with over-regulation. Take away from it what you will.
  14. A journalist not having their facts correct? Never happen.
  15. ...but their parents are constituents. Act nice to the kiddies and the parents like you. Parents like you, they may vote for you. Being nice to one kid could get you two votes. Now, couple that with the dog lovers vote. Show that you care about dogs and their safety, and you could swing their vote in your favor. People like seeing a family man/woman as their representative. You also score more brownie points if you have pets. It is all about appearances. See where I am going with this?
  16. It depends on the day of the week, whether you are my minion or I am your minion. It is tough to keep up with the 'tards and their lists.
  17. It will work with the Hot Pockets® on the right. That is about it. Same with the Dem strategy. It will work with the Hot Pockets® on the left, but that is it. I don't keep a "minnions" list. I keep a minions list.
  18. That is how the Republicans will counter the filibuster. Playing the sex and race card. You have to ask T-Bag, NJSue or BF to see if you are one of my "minnions."
  19. Umm...have you read his posts in the past?
  20. You have to remember the crowd they are playing to. The MoveOn.org loonies will make it out to be the coming of the apocolypse if [insert any name here, it doesn't matter the name] were to make it to the SC bench. The Hot Pockets® gang will get their panties in a bunch and express their faux outrage. Remember the rhetoric over the Bush federal court nominations, and take it up several notches. That is what you can expect. This is going to take a long time to resolve. The 2006 elections are just around the corner. The Senators will need to choose their words and their battles carefully if they expect to be re-elected.
  21. Federal court does not have the same impact as SCOTUS. That is the argument they will use.
  22. I don't have a problem with that. The mechanism is in place, but the African nations need to take the appropriate steps. Until that happens, debt relief and aid packages are short-sighted and the same problems will arise again in the future.
  23. There you go with that big picture thingy again. You are getting into the Millenium Challenge Account, as I mentioned. Until you see reforms in the government, anything you send to Africa is wasted. You want to send vaccines to dying children. Too bad. The vaccines we send there are getting diverted away from those children. You want to send money to the starving children. Too bad. The money is being diverted away from those children. Billions and billions of dollars have been flushed down the toilet because people cannot see what is going on. People respond, "well, we just need to send more money to solve the problem." It makes everyone feel warm and fuzzy without actually accomplishing anything. Forgive debt? Yeah, sounds good and it makes people feel like they are doing something, but it still does not go after the root cause of the problem: the governments. Until you go after the root cause of the problem, you will not make a dent in the situation. So, how many times was that brought up during the concert? Oh wait...going after the root cause of the problem is hard. We need simple solutions. Just send more money and forgive debt. Why? Because it makes a good soundbyte and it will make people feel better about doing something that will not solve the problem.
  24. Red herrings aside, do you realize that since 2000, the U.S. has tripled their aid to Africa? Since 1980, the U.S. has send $300 billion to Africa, only to see it disappear into the blackhole that is corruption. You easily dismiss the possibility of the aid being diverted. Until you end the corruption, you can sign all the pieces of paper you want. It will not do a damn thing. Having concerts is great and it makes the tree-huggers feel better about themselves, but in the end it doesn't do squat. Before you say that Bush is not doing anything for Africa, read up on the Millennium Challenge Account. Aid is tied to proper governing. End the corruption, and you get aid. Money solves nothing unless it is properly applied. The tree-huggers do not understand that, and it is costing people their lives.
  25. If the staffer said "My boss said this," then Novak could use the "Senior Officials" moniker to make things sound more official and still be accurate according to his source. What sounds better in a story: 1) a senior official says this... 2) the staffer of a senior official said that the senior official said this... Honestly, I have not followed this story too closely, so I cannot express an opinion on any impressions I have received from the reporting. I am just commenting on a possibility. With the hard-on that the media and some Dems have for Rove, it is tough to imagine that he is the source and that people at Time, et. al are willing to hide it. Novak, possibly, but other media outlets I doubt.
