  1. Great, if that happens then have fun with your "where are the Haters" thread then. Not after one game.

We had a "where is everyone who said we'd miss Pat Williams" thread after one game against Houston's terrible offense in 2005. Then the Bucs in week 2 and every decent team thereafter ran down our throats the rest of the year while fat Pat & his Vikings stuffed every running game for the next five years.

This is just one example but there have been a lot of these pointless threads in the last 10 years. Just don't be that guy.

How many times do I have to say, I am not saying he's a world beater, I'm not saying anything earth shattering. All I'm saying is that Mario showed up and give him props for it. My goodness, why is this so hard to understand? Wow! I'm not trying to rub anything in any's face, I'm not trying to prove the "haters" wrong, I'm just trying to give credit where credit is due. Just give credit for the last game played. I am well aware there are many games left. Did I make any predictions? No, I'm merely trying to say, good job Mario, you had a good disruptive game. That's it and thats all. Can you understand or no?

  2. Like I said: And also the line was only +4.5 for the Bills. We just gave up 100 points in two games and the Cards were 4-1 and playing at home. I don't think I'm the only one who thought they were soft.

That's a pretty meek line for a team with an 8-game winning streak at home.

Would it be better if I didn't call the Arizona Cardinals inferior? Would that help this argument? Would it be better to just say we handed them the ball in field goal range in the dying seconds of the game and that they lost it for themselves? If he hits that 38-yarder, we're not having this discussion. We STOLE a game, let's stop pretending this was some type of quality show of power on our end.

Who in heck cares what Vegas says??!??!?! You are really grasping at straws here...

  3. Including the disclaimer doesn't mean we have to get past it or pretend like this thread is warranted.

This is not hindsight. Everyone from Aaron Schatz to John Clayton said we're in big trouble if we can't pressure that OL, the worst protection team in the league. It was basically Spurrier's Redskins from 2003. Or heck the Redskins game last year. We didn't need $100mill to pressure those teams. We need it for the Jets & Pats (oops).

How about the idea that teams can continue to get better throughout the year. Any thought to that? Teams get hot and rattle of W's in a row, but I supposed the Bils would NEVER be able to do that. Why can't this be a starting point?

I bet I know how you're going to respond. It'll be interesting to see if I'm right...

  4. When he plays bad we come at him like he stole money. When he plays well, well its not his fault...

I don't quite get what you're saying here. Are you saying we say "its not his fault" he stole the money, or its not his "fault" he had a good game, or am I completely missing the point. Either way, if you're trying to dig at me, I haven't talked about Mario on this board until this thread. My first thread on this board BTW. I think its gone pretty well. :flirt:

  5. Yep. Im not defending the horrible performances against the Pats and Jets, but I think the offseason had everyone expecting a 19-0 team that dominates in every game. That just isnt going to happen in the NFL. Heck the Pats lost to the Seahawks yesterday, and the Texans got blown out and self destructed in embarrassing fashion.

We just need a bit more consistency, and to get the fire back.

Agreed. There's so much parity in this league, the "Any Given Sunday" mantra takes on a new meaning...

  6. you are wrong sir.........Fitz was the problem this weekend. Just another putrid performance.

everyone else looked pretty good IMO. even Mario Millions chipped in with a little hustle

Thats right, just this weekend, he's not that futile all the time. People need to stop making it more than it is. He had a bad game, he can't be solely to blame here or in the other two blowouts.

  7. Sorry, we're Bills fans. We only complain. And declare players as busts 5 games into a 6 year contract...

Yeah, I'm starting to realize this is just like any other Bills message board. I didn't expect much, but was hoping for a little more postivitiy. That's what almost a decade and a half of futility will do though. I'm seeing the sliver lining but they're seeing all the gloom around it.

  8. Yes, the Cards O-Line is bad but I think Mario would have been that disruptive against anybody yesterday. He has the physical talent to do that every Sunday. The question is, will be motivated enough to play that way every Sunday? Whatever the Bills did to him during the week, they need to repeat that another 10 times yet this season.

When he plays that way, he gets accounted for with chips and double teams, which allows guys like Kelsay, Dareus, Williams and Moore to get favorable matchups and be disruptive. They still more depth on the D-line. If they don't get stops early in drives, they wear down and the lack of depth shows more.

I agree, good points all around.

  9. I would be more worried if he didnt dominate yesterday

Exactly, he didn't dominate against inferior talent in the first 5 games, but he's finally dominated, it doesnt matter who he's playing. Its progress...

Often times I was focusing on the DL and thinking 'man, Mario is on the right side and getting pressure every play!!!!!'

Then I realised it was a 54 and it was Kyle Moore! I thought he played great - better than Mario and Anderson have played - and earned a starting spot.

I agree, Moore looked really good.

  10. It's just the way this board is...

    The Bills won, BUT....

    Mario played well, BUT...

    Or whatever positive, BUT...

I can't say I blame most who do this, being a Bills fan for 30+ years will beat you down! BUT, I still Billieve...

I've been a Bills fan for 20+ years, not quite 30 but quite a long time. I still hold faith and still understand that a W is a W is a W. I'm trying to give props to a player for playing well and they all want to shoot it down.

  11. Solid win on the road...are you nuts? Did you actually SEE the game? The Bills received a W because the Cardinals lost the game. Coaching was abysmal, QB play was just that--play.

What are you talking about? The Bills played well enough to win. They manhandled that offense for most of the game. What game are you watching? Carrington got his hand on that last ball, they took this win.

  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe all of Mario's sacks came against rookie RTs. Not impressed by that. Do it against the Jets, Dolphins, and Pats that's why you were brought here.

Congrats, you're regurgitating what others are already saying. Welcome to the school of redundancy. Cmon people, I'm just saying he had a good game, nothing more and nothing less. I didn't proclaim him the greatest DE in history, acknowldege he had a good game, say good game, and move on.

  13. I would also like to point out Mario could very well have had 4 sacks when all was said and done, but he held up on one sack because it was going to be a horsecollar (smart play by him) and then there was an obvious intentional grounding call that the officials said was not. Regardless, good game, not calling him a world beater yet, just a pat on the back.

  14. Actually, I think Kelsay is a solid player.

Mario is supposed to be a GREAT player. Mario is playing like a solid starter right now, who looked great against a bad tackle. Kelsay, also looked great against a bad tackle.

I do enjoy the win, but I'm not going to get drunk on kool-aid.

There's no kool-aid drinking here, I'm just pointing out a solid game and I said I know its against a bad OL. Let me ask you this, how many of you thought he was going to manhandle that Jet's OL and he didnt? So he was supposed to but he didnt in that game, he was supposed to and was dominant in this game. I think that marks good progress...

  15. ... then you drank the Kool Aid.

Yes, the defensive line looks nasty on paper.

    However:

    - It's still the same coaching regime that fielded one of the worst defenses in the league last couple years.

    - The linebacking corps is arguably the worst in the NFL. A washed up Barnett is the best linebacker, and is surrounded by a bunch of middle to late round unproven young players.

    - The cornerback group is arguably the worst in the NFL. Gilmore has great potential, but Williams looks like a bust and McGee is way over the hill and McKelvin was never good.

Let's rewind the clock a few seasons and look back at what the Bills defense looked like in 2008, when they had a middling defensive unit:

DL - Schobel, Williams, Stroud, Kelsay, Denney

LB - Posluszney, Crowell, Ellison, Mitchell

DB - Whitner, McGee, Greer, McKelvin, Wendling, Simpson, Wilson, Scott

    DC - Perry Fewell

That DL was at least as good as this DL. That LB crew and DB crew were far superior to what we have today. Fewell was a good DC and currently is the Giants DC and seems to be doing well there.

If our defense a few years ago was in the middle of the pack, and even on paper before the season started was MUCH better than this year's defense, why on earth would anyone expect the great things from this year's defense?

The only way to immediately turn around a poor defense is to bring in an elite DC/HC, and the Bills have neither. There is good young defensive talent on this team but it is being wasted and their growth inhibited by this incompetent coaching staff.

Wow, I have preached on other message boards that the D is not what it was to begin the season, they are just not that bad. They'll become very good to top 5 if they can continue to grow. This is a relatively new defense with lots of new faces, they were going to have growing pains. We won last night, get over yourself.

  16. Kelsay had a better game than him.

    That should tell you something.

I disagree, but you can have your opinion. I say they were both very disruptive, but Kelsay is not getting double and triple teams. In the past few games maybe Mario was not getting double and tripled as much, but in this game he was.

Good game. I dont care how the other teams' o-line is. You still have to get the job done.

    My point exactly my man...

  17. I guess I just have a different definition of "elite" than most here. I feel like elite is someone who is dependable, consistent and most of all, demands attention at all times.

CJ has had a great 10 games or so over his 3 year career, but all the rest of his games he's been a relative non factor. He's definitely trending up right now, but until he puts together a full season of greatness (if not more), I'm just going to call him a good running back with great potential.

    I absolutely agree with this.

I'm pretty sure teams DO have to gameplan for CJ.

  18. His wrist must have miraculously healed against inferior talent....

His wrist is certainly wrapped up big time.

I put the disclaimer "albeit against a pourous line", so lets try and get past that and try and see his quality play. This could be a turn around game for him, but he was dominant. He was less than dominant against other back up OTs. This is a good sign.

On another note, I was digging that creep defense...a nice little wrinkle, much needed wrinkle.
