  1. I'm not saying McDermott can't get it done. But he hasn't yet with an elite quarterback. So you really believe the biggest difference in Andy Reid's career is that? Reid was the coach in KC for what 7 seasons before he won a championship? So your main reason that Andy got over the hump is it took about 20 years for the lightbulb to go on for him and the reason why he's successful now is because he's not the GM in KC, and not the main reason being Mahomes. Do you truly believe that?
  2. The point I am trying to prove here before we got down this rabbit hole is simple: Someone compared andy Reid to McDermott. The situation is completely different. Reid went from having a "good" QB to an elite QB. That elite QB helped him get over the edge and he now has 3 rings and counting. McDermott is not going from a "good" to elite QB. He has had an elite QB for the past 4 seasons but still hasn't gotten it done. if you disagree with that, I'm not sure what to really tell you. But all good either way and we can move on
  3. It was 100 percent time for a change for Andy in Philly, there's no doubt as he ran his course there. But Mcnabb was 33-34 years old when he left.. lol. That's not old At all as a QB I gave endless examples of guys who were still very good in their mid to late 30s in this post Rivers, Eli, Peyton manning, favre, Big Ben, brees, stafford, favre, Brady, Rodgers. Thats literally 10 at the top of my head. Mcnabbs last year in Philly to when he left was a night and day difference. You're telling me he aged that quickly in the span of what, 7 months? Want another example? Look at Alex smith's numbers with Andy compared to without him. (Outside his 2012 season with a stacked Jim Harbaugh team)
  4. Ok but the argument was about Mcnabb. I wasn't comparing them to Kelly or Marino era. Mcnabb basically played in the same era from all the guys I listed
  5. No im not a "Super Bowl is a quarterback stat kind of guy". But when Andy constantly gets to the nfl championship games and even a SB, but just couldn't get over the hump and then when he leaves and Mcnabb goes to complete s hit? And then andy wins 3 rings with an elite QB? I don't think it's that hard to put the pieces to the puzzle here. Like is Bill belichick a crap coach because he can't win a playoff game without an elite QB?
  6. Again, how can we possibly say he wasn't the reason? lol. Mcnabb fell off an absolute clip without Andy. And when Andy left he won 3 rings with Mahomes What more evidence do you really want? Team structure? Ok It's not like Andy inherited a superbowl team in KC. He inherited a 2-14 team lol. What a coincidence: He won 3 super bowls when his quarterback was way better . McDermott has an elite QB already and nothing has changed since 2020
  7. The roster he inherited was horrible in 2013. He completely changed that franchise around He also helped make Alex smith into a pro bowler lol Andy is also an all time great coach and will go down as one of the best to ever do it. He just needed a great QB to put him over the edge. (Like every other great coach. Bill belichick ain't winning 3 super bowls with Donovan Mcnabb)
  8. How could we not say it was because of QB though for Andy? These facts can't be disputed: 1. You can debate all you want about Mcnabb being a good QB. But he's not even in the same ball park as mahomes 2. When Mcnabb left and wasn't with Andy, he was garbage 3. when Andy left and got an elite QB, he has 3 rings and counting. So how can we possibly say that QB wasn't the issue holding Andy back in Philly?
  9. Ok. And when Andy left, Mcnabb was hot trash and Andy won 3 rings. Its pretty easy to put the pieces to the puzzle here to who the problem was with Andy not winning, with all due respect
  10. Based on what? He had a top 3 coach of all time with stacked weapons and he couldn't win. (Also had a good defence with Jim Johnson) Andy leaves Philly and has 3 rings now cause he has an elite QB
  11. Exactly what I'm trying to say. Mcnabb isn't close to the same league as Josh and Mahomes
  12. That's more than a couple people I listed lol. Eli manning is another. Drew brees. I can keep going. If you had a borderline hall of fame career, it's very rare that you fall off a cliff at 34 years of age. Mcnabb has elite stats , I'm not saying he didn't. My point was how much of that was Andy Reid as he's a QB whisperer. But back to the original point: Mahomes put Andy Reid over the top. McDermott already has a hall of fame QB and has won nothing with him.
  13. Plenty of QBs still elite at 34. Rivers, Big Ben, staffford still good, favre, manning, Rodgers Endless examples. Ok another example look at Alex smith: Andy Reid helped him get to pro bowls. Look at his career outside of the Andy Reid years
  14. Was Mcnabb really that good though or did Andy Reid get the best out of him? When Mcnabb left Philly, he was hot trash for the rest of his career. I get he was at the tail end of his career but he was 33-34 when he left. That's really not that old for a QB
  15. The issue with the Andy Reid comparison is Andy Reid didn't have Patrick Mahomes in Philly. Mahomes helped put him over the top in KC McDermott has Josh Allen and Josh Allen has excelled in the playoffs. It comes back to McDermotts defence not performing or major coaching gaffes in critical times. (13 seconds)
  16. It's also very possible that there was a lot of tension in their friendship/relationship the last year or so but also have mutual respect for each other. Just like in a breakup. When you breakup with someone, doesn't mean you're going to rip on the other person when it's done. There can be tension, but also mutual respect for each other at the same time, especially when that "relationship " is over. I definitely think there was something between them. Of course just speculating, but kind of reading between the lines
  17. For me it's simple: He's got 2 more years left. Let him play out his contract, and let him walk. Unless you're CMC, I'm personally not a fan of paying RBs a second contract
  18. Lawrence is still a good QB in my opinion. Needs to cut down on his turnovers for sure and just needs to take that next step this year
  19. Maybe it's not going to drop like crazy. But it already has kind of stabilized. Here are a few examples: 2019- Adam Humphries 4 years at 36 mil 2022- Jacobi Meyers- 3 years 33 2023- Gabe Davis- 3 years 39 With the cap sky rocketing, that's pretty much a lateral move. And Gabe/Meyers were more productive than Humphries. Compare that to I believe Julio who got 3 years 66 which was the highest in the game in 2019. Whats Jefferson gonna make, 35 per year? Top guys have exploded. Mid guys have already started to stabilize
  20. I understand that. But again, that goes for any position. WRs aren't the only position that bust in the draft lol. Every single position in every round have flops Lets put it this way: I much prefer what the bills did signing a vet in Samuel and drafting Coleman Opposed to paying Gabe all that money. Signing Samuel hedges your bet a bit
  21. Ok but we also can say that about any position. The draft is a crap shoot as we know. There have also been tons of massive success stories in the mid rounds. Higgins, Deebo, Kupp, Aj Brown, Metcalf. The list goes on and on. Can always pick a receiver in the 1st round as well if a team really values WR2, I was more just giving an example with 2nd round. To me I'm taking the risk of drafting a young guy and maybe doubling down with a cheap vet opposed to paying Gabe 12 mil per year . That just doesn't move the needle for me
  22. For sure and I agree with that. I'm def not putting WRs in the bucket of RBs as the top guys will continue to get insane contracts. I do think though at some point the middling guys will stabilize and it already kind of has. I'm just curious to see where the market will go in the next 5 years with those WRs that are 2nd or 3rd on the depth chart.
  23. Maybe. I'm not saying you're wrong. But the middling market for receivers have already kind of stabilized. We will see where it goes the next few years or so
  24. The top guys I 100 percent agree with you. For the middle guys it's 50/50 for me. Even right now- Would you rather someone like Gabe Davis at 12 mil (or whatever he's making) or draft a rookie in the 2nd round at a few million per year to hopefully be your number 2 WR for the next 4 years? I would choose option B, but those ^ are the decisions GMs will have to ask themselves going forward
  25. Agreed. Waddles contract doesn't kick in for another 2 years as well. In 2 years Hill will probably be gone. So if Waddle takes another step, 28.5 mil for WR1 will be looking good with all these crazy WR contracts .
